So the week kicks off exactly where to ended last week (yay!)...Sahir has just been busted by Arzoo as he sticks his fountain pen nib into his finger. She has thrown it away, grabbed his shoulders and told him she doesn't permit him to do this anymore. Sahir gets up...Arzoo is waiting for a response...but he isn't ready to talk about this just yet...and suggests they sleep. Very different from before, Arzoo reads her man and does a very sensible thing...she leaves it. This is one of the first times Arzoo has shown such understanding...she was shown as being a bit of a bull in a china shop, not seeing the others emotions and just pushing for answers. This has resulted in her pushing Sahir too far resulting in anger, ego and hurt. But not this time. She lets him go. This shows a new maturity in their relationship. Neither show ego. Once they are both in bed, Arzoo looks over at Sahir..I think she is thinking...there is so much more to this man than meets the eye. I have a lot to learn about him. Sahir then looks over and then changes his sleeping position to continue looking over. He's thinking..somebody finally loves me enough to care...
So next key scene is the shooting. We see Sahir late in the office. He is feeling restless and uneasy. He glances at Arzoo's desk. He is feeling something is amiss and heads out. As he descends the stairs he sees Arzoo sitting outside the outhouse, he asks what's wrong, she looks up, answers nothing, but he sees she looks afraid. He notices the red laser dot, spys the shooter and then leaps over the stairs, dashing towards his lady of Lucknow. He instinctively grabs her in his protective embrace so tightly...not ready to let her go..anywhere. The bullet is fired and Sahir is hit. Now between this point and Sahir collapsing, the sequence was beautiful. Sahirs eyes were fixed on Arzoo, that's all he wanted to look at in this moment. His hand slides along her arm, across that symbolic bracelet to the top of her fingers. And as he falls, eyes are still on Arzoo. Even after falling, when Arzoo holds his head, he still continues looking at her until the point he looses his consciousness. I am reminded of the line from an earlier episode - there may be many Sahir's, but in each one, there lives only one Arzoo. And we saw this in this scene. His life means nothing, his love means everything.
So then we came to Thursday episode, other than the advertising scenes, the story moved forward. Firstly we had Arzoo wondering how Alvira could leave for urgent work when her son was fighting death. Next we had Aarzoo's prayer scene. She starts by admitting that she didnt try and understand why God was pushing her towards him and kept fighting instead. She admits that now she is on the brink of losing him she realises how much he actually means to her. We then get 4 specific flashbacks. Arzoo's mind goes all the way back to the beginning to the jungle, then the rain scene and birthday dance. It dawns on her that the feelings were always there from a long time ago. Her face is that of someone kicking themselves for not realising earlier. How could she even believe this guy didn't love her? We also get the birthday scene. I think this shows that she realises that he loved her even then although he later said it was all fake. Finally she thinks of her qabool. I think this is shown in the context of Arzoo regretting her behaviour and refusing to see the signs. This was true self realisation by Arzoo. All clouds are lifted and she sees the situation for what it really is.
This is reinforced in the next scene where Arzoo is trying to wake Sahir post op. She repeatedly mentions you can lie to me but pls get up. This shows that she realises the lies were all just there to protect Sahirs vulnerabilities and she feels guilty about not realising this earlier. She repeats, I won't fight, I'll listen to all you say, u can lie to me, but pls wake up, I can't live without you. She also refers to herself as 'your Arzoo' when she's talking to him...again confirming she has no doubts in her mind now about how he feels about her.
Then when Sahir wakes, his eyes are yet again fixed on his beloved Arzoo. All he cares about is if Arzoo is ok. His next thoughts move onto getting back home. He will not let Arzoo be alone in that house, no matter what his health is like.
The other interesting thing of course is as Arzoo enters the room you see a vulnerable Sahir lying there, all alone, not a soul around him. I felt bad for Sahir at that point and felt his loneliness. And then Arzoo comes and sits beside him. This is a sign of things to come.
Then we shift back to NH and the lovely bedroom scene. You really see sparks flying in this scene! A mesmerised Sahir just gazes at Arzoo with her wet hair. This doesn't go unnoticed by Arzoo and as she lays him back on the bed, purposely dangling her wet strands of hair on his face. There is a powerful eye lock between the two..neither trying too hard to mask their desires..phew! We then get a cute convo between the two followed by yet another bold action from Arzoo, placing her finger on Sahirs lips. The man has hit the jackpot today! His eyes show strong emotions for his wife. Arzoo seductively runs her finger down his lips driving him even more crazy! Arzoo is certainly no less when it comes to foreplay, and as we know Sahir just loves it when Arzoo gets all dominant ;-)
Sahir then pays Arzoo a huge compliment but also reveals a sad truth about his life...he tells her u are the first person to show 'haq' over me. Arzoo rather maturely just smiles and asks him to sleep. Sahir responds with an adorable shake of the head and Arzoo then gently brushes her hand over his eyes ( which he enjoys thoroughly!) and he sleeps. We then see a self talk where Arzoo says, 'why shouldnt I show haq, you belong to me'...this is a pretty interesting statement for Arzoo to make considering she has yet to find out much about Sahir and Zeenat. Again it reenforces the realisation. There is absolutely no doubt in her mind about the way Sahir feels about her. Zeenat or no Zeenat, this is her man. Period.
And then we move onto Friday's scene which centred around Arzoo discovering that Sahir is in fact an orphan and Zeenat is Alvira's daughter. Arzoo's talk to herself after KA left her was truly emotional. ( Good job Shivya). You felt her pain and also her regret at not knowing this earlier. This man who she thought was so heartless appears to have the biggest heart of them all. Also rolling back to the scene after Anam leaves, the way she strokes his face and asks what kind of family he has and they all just see him as a money machine. You can see that her heart is brimming with love for Sahir. Then we come to the poison scene. Excellent excellent acting by both here. Harshad was particularly convincing. Hats off guys. And the final sleeping position was muuuwah!
Now let's talk about the story progression. So we still don't know who dunnit, but we do know there is something very fishy going on with Alvira. Although she has always been a little distant with Sahir she has supported SaAz and bad mouthed Zeenat. I mean, this is the woman who told KA, she wants Zeenat to wake up, see SaAz and realise what she has lost! Is that all a charade? We will see as the story unfolds. Again, as Alvira got a text saying her sons life is at risk, does that mean Alvira isn't doing this? And Zaki? He is awfully quiet. Yes, he saved SaAz and I certainly wouldn't like him to be a bad guy, but I'm just not sure. I think there are still many secrets to unfold which I think will be shown through the next few weeks. They seem to be unveiling one major secret a week!
Special mentions:
Shivya for some fantastic acting this week. Between her and Harshad she has had the bulk of the scenes this week and she did a mighty fine job. Loved the scene today in Alviras room as she sits on the bed and talks..it was really heartfelt. And of course the prayer scene as well as pre shooting when she is walking around the outhouse. And in terms of Arzoo, the light bulb is well and truly switched on now and burning brightly! My 'Arzoo' to see a smart, mature, thinking, unconditionally loving, empathetic Arzoo has been duly fulfilled. Thank you CVs!
Alvira for again keeping us really confused on whether she is good or bad. Who knows man, I think I'll just eat a vada pav...
ACP Rathod - we need to see more of him at the right time...he keeps coming after the event...I also want to see him moving the investigation forward. Arzoo seems to be doing a better job at unearthing secrets!
Zaki - what's his story in all of this? He's been awfully quiet. Does he know something? Where do his loyalties lye? Does he really love his bhai? He also has mentioned how Zeenat has broken Sahirs heart.
Next week will be interesting. Hopefully we will find out Sahirs version of his past. I am intrigued to know why Zeenat had wanted to marry Sahir, was it that he was infatuated with her and she enjoyed playing with his heart (like Estelle from Great Expectations) or was he orphaned but rich...but she wanted more? Them all having the same name is very strange. KA specifically said Sahirs relation to this family is via Zeenat. So then how did Alvira and Zaki become Chaudary's? Or did Sahir take Alviras name? But then isn't Zeenat like a sister to him?? I hope they don't do something stupid like coincidentally the surnames are the same, or worse still skim over this!
Much to discover! The next few weeks will be interesting! But more then anything I am so happy to see Sahir finally get love from someone. The week before the nikaah, as he sat alone talking to Asharfi, my heart went out to this lonely, lonely soul. He was yearning for someone to call him their own. And now Arzoo does. I really want to see this relationship continue to blossom and looking forward to the heart to hearts next week. And in terms of showing affection, forget near kiss, these guys need to kiss! I don't know exactly what it is with SaAz characterisation, but their relationship just looks so natural. When they touch, eye lock, speak...it's like a real couple...and that's why I think, it is only natural that they have the urge to kiss...especially since there is so much built up emotions for each other...there needs to be an outlet!
