Heyy everyone, sorry I haven't been able to update this FF. Life has gotten a bit hectic but I really appreciate you being patient.
Anyway, here's the next chapter. It's a bit short BUT it's almost 3am so I'm sure you can forgive me seeing I made sure I wrote something for you guys before I head off to bed! 😛
P.S: I can't stand the whole 'burnt toast' thing so I just made it so that Sahir doesn't have breakfast at all! :L
P.P.S : I'm PM'ing everyone who 'liked' the First Chapter as it's easier for me. So do let me know if you don't want the PM :)
Thank you for reading, truly love reading all your comments. Gives me that sense of motivation to fit some time in & write more! <3
Chapter Five.
Sahir awoke early the next morning, as was his routine. He got himself ready for work then made his way downstairs. He stopped and looked up when someone called out to him. "Sahir Sir?"
He turned to see his assistant, Joe. "What is it?"
"Do you want me to ask someone to get you some breakfast?" He asked and Sahir sighed, exasperated.
"Joe, you've been around me a long time. Have you ever seen me stop to have breakfast?"
"No Sir. No, I haven't. I just thought..."
"I don't pay you to think. Let's go. We've got plenty to do"
"Sahir?" a voice called and he turned to see his mother at the breakfast table and that girl stood next to her, with a file in hand.
"Yes Ammi?"
"You're going to the office, aren't you?"
"Yes. Do you need something?"
"No. Just take Aarzoo with you" she asked him "It's her first day. I don't want her to be late" She told her son and he simply nodded obediently in reply before glancing at the girl briefly.
"I'll be leaving in 2 minutes" He told her firmly and made his way out to the car, being briefed by Joe about the meetings along the way.
"Go on. Sahir won't like it if you're late" Alvira told Aarzoo.
"Does he never eat breakfast?" She asked and Alvira shook her head, forlorn.
"He doesn't look after himself properly. I don't think I've seen him enjoying a meal for a long time. It's like he's just going through the motions" she said, lost in her own thoughts, before coming back to reality and realising Aarzoo was still standing there. "You'd better go. You don't want to get late on your first day" she smiled faintly and Aarzoo nodded before leaving.
As she began to leave she came face to face with Sahir, who she realised was standing there listening to their conversation. She averted her eyes. "Go to the car. I have to get something" he ordered and she left him to it.
Sahir stood there for a moment and saw his mother leaving the breakfast table, having finished eating. Hearing his mother speak about him. Care about him. It felt a relief. But he was too far gone to be saved. He didn't want to be saved. And why was the girl asking about him eating breakfast? What business was it of hers? She didn't even know him.
Sahir shook his head of his thoughts and went to grab a file from his office before making his way back downstairs to the car.
Joe was already in the front passenger seat and Aarzoo was sat at the back. Sahir sighed before getting into the car.
"Shall we go Sir?" The driver asked and Sahir gave him a small nod and they left to make their way to the office.
He stared out into the window and wondered what the day would have in store for him.
