4Lions has gotten the formula down pat. So down pat that watching their shows now feels like a patchwork quilt of discarded concepts, unrealized ideas and wasted stories being sewn together with the hopes that the eventual product would look better than sum of its parts.
Mr Jahil ChowDownInAHurry is all set to demolish the single CarKhana that feeds the entire east end of Lucknow. Miss ErrZoo is hell bent on saving jobs. Armed with a truckload of responsibilities, she feels fully equipped to face off against a mega millionaire astute business man by plastering herself on the floor of the CarKhana.
The hapless workers of the cottage industry cannot begin to support themselves without the deft assistance and intervention of ErrZoo. She has earned her battle scars because her dad, like any other dad of three daughters, has ditched the family in search of a male heir. For ErrZoo and her sisters' sake I hope the dad's progeny are all girls. ErrZoo has knotted her duppatta from this end to the other, leaving hardly any duppatta to cover her. Each knot stands for a wish. At this rate she'd have to begin knotting her pajama and kurtha too - Jahil ChowDownInaHurry is going to stir a maelstrom of wishes and desires in her soon. Allah knows this is true.
If cliches were sold in stores, 4Lions has bought them on wholesale. The message is clear, if we dont succeed on Star or Zee try try again on every other channel. A few questions rankle me though. How convenient that ChowDownInaHurry happens to be Muslim too because an inter-caste love affair would not make any sense? Why does Muslim father of three girls invariably invoke his rights to marry again in ALL shows? Gul Khan should know that Sharia law holds no legality in India, and no priest would approve abandoning your current family.
Whats with the extra "s"? Hums ko samajhs nahis ayaas.
Good luck to the new venture, even if the premise is cliched and the hero arrives without a barber. the girl is quite pretty and a decent actor. the male lead has proven his acting chops in the past - so they should be a treat to watch. Lets just hope poor scripting does not bury the two under its weight.
