Chace is also at a turning point in his career—Gossip Girl is going off the air, so he's looking for movie projects to work on. According to Fansshare, a recent Mr. Porter interview claims that Chace is under "serious consideration" for the role of Christian Grey. However, there's no mention of where this insider info about the 50 Shades of Grey movie casting came from, so it's possible that it's just more speculation.
Mr. Porter compares the 50 Shades film to American Psycho and speculates that whoever wins the role of Christian Grey could go on to have the kind of career that Christian Bale has. In fact, Fifty fans still haven't forgotten Bale's portrayal of a rich businessman with twisted sexual desires in American Psycho—The Dark Knight Rises star has actually won a few fan polls.
Chace Crawford said that he's a "huge fan" of American Psycho and that he's looking "to do something really shocking," so maybe he's dropping small hints that he's interested in 50 Shades. He does have experience playing a rich guy who looks great in suits, and his Gossip Girl character even got involved with an older woman. As Fifty fans know, a relationship with an older woman is part of the reason why Christian Grey becomes such a big BDSM fan.
