Fans have turned anti - rishi
: Not really. They are against this new Rishi whom they do not recognize at all. The change in his character is that drastic.

Story Arc: Hope atleast something is achieved by this on - off marriage thing. till now they have ruined rishi, indira, inshi (atleast for me) & mocked the whole institution of marriage. God alone knows where they are heading wid this stuff. About the IPLs & ManShi, neither should have come as a surprise. IPLs were planned well in advance + the CVs knew the popularity of Inshi (which is the same as the audiences not liking indu & rishi being paired wid anybody else)...so y experiment in a crucial phase like the IPLs? is dis adventurous, insensitive or plain foolish?

Rishis growth
: I accept the story is all about Indira, but then if Rishi is supposed to be her partner, then well his character too should get some importance if not as much as hers. And this importance is not in terms of screen space but in terms of well defined character growth. STOP using Rishi as a filler. You make him do comedy, make him fight sometimes, beat him up at will, he shows a bit of self respect, then suddenly he is a loser, one moment he is delivering killer one liners, after a few months he utters lines which make even his die hard fans cringe! WTH! will the real Rishi please stand up! This is an important character in the show...whether anybody likes it or not, admits it or not. He is an asset, use him properly. He can make or break your show. CVs recognize this & give him his due!

Writers finding their feet: i have already written about ManShi above. This could have been avoided had they not experimented with Rishis character as & how they wished. The makers promised us something different. Was the plot of ManShi different? Why even head for something which is so old & so boring?

The worst part for me that this 'no -twist' (the twist being Rishi leaving SN for good after the case) has brought is that Rishi completely lost his self respect. And self respect once lost can never be regained. Never esteem anything as of advantage to you dat will make u lose your self respect.,...is all i will like to say to Rishi.

All points you have made are well made and I cannot counter them. The worst episodes for me were the dream episodes.

The point you are making about IPL and Manshi are also well made. About CVs not able to forsee what was obvious to all is that sometimes we get too caught up in our own creations and develop huge blindspots. Forget about serials, it brings huge, giant corporations down.

Illa obviously became too focussed on Indira alaya sacrificing and never being happy. She forgot that the characters she created took hold of the audience and developed a traction of their own. So no matter what she had initially planned on paper, her characters were live one with a deep connection to audience, and the audience wanted hope and love. If her interview had not come about, who knows what disaster may have happened. With her interview and her tipping her hand, we all came to know about the rigidity of the plot and rebelled. Result is for all of us to see

So hang in there, but don't mince words on character/plot critique

cheers

first they rushed everything!!
main leads are Rati and sumit but from 2 months, CV's are constantly focusing on mandira's character. Don't know, what they are doing to our sweet HD...they are simply ruining it!!!

I Totally agree with mithsi about marriage track.. marriage was not AT ALL needed.. there were sooo many thing for indira could smile. but marriage wasn't only a solution.

i think this all started with mrunal's entry. agar yeh show mein enter na hota, toh sab acha rehna tha.(SOrry if i hurt mrunal's fan) Cv's shouldn't have taken this horrible decision for entering him in the show.

I HATE YOU Illa BEDI FOR RUINING HD!! AND I MEAN IT!😡

thanks for this post, J. i agree! im just hoping that HD's story will improve and they will try to redeem Insh's characterization. they have to show them strong, intelligent, and with self respect like they used to have earlier on in the show, & make up for the rapid pace and blunders they made.

@Surma
What a point you have made Surma...
On the contrary, look at INdu despite she gets 100s of taunt per day from her mother, she loves her unconditionally and Rishi on the other hand is totally submerged in love, he forgot his mother completely. If you compare Kutumb with Simi, Simi is better than kutumb by a big margin but still Rishi doesn't have that love that Indu has for her ungrateful mother.
In my opinion, CVs have sabotaged Rishi character in 2 counts:
Lack of Self Respect:
1) He is shown as someone who has absolutely no self respect. In the past too, they were times when Indu behaved rudely or was harsh, he took it like a school boy listening to taunts from his teacher.
2) Rishi calling Vidit bhaiya was not digestable for me.
3) Rishi got mericelessly bashed by Munna, yet he had no hard feelings over him, even a naukar at home wouldn't take that. It doesn't mean in love you can take any insult on you.
4) Kutumb always treated him like a garbage, but still he is nice and soft to her while his own mother when taunts him, he rebels her and back answers her, but not with Kutumb why ?
5) The whole family doesn't have gratitude towards Rishi for his various contributions and the biggest being Mandira rape case where he won the case fighting his own blood, i.e., brother and mother, which is the toughest thing for anyone, yet the whole family didn't utter a word of thanks... I expected at least Indu to say thank you Rishi in person to him than on podium, but didn't happen.
Failed Son
1) Rishi shown disrepecting his mom.
2) When Rishi can stand up unconditionally for the sharmas and support them in every cause, then why did he turn his face off when his mother was sent to jail ? Sameer was the culprit and he nailed him, but Simi was of fault, so it was a son's duty to do everything to bring his mom out. It showed that this is how Ricky Diwan was that he never cared for family and reckless in his act, so the family hated him.
3) Ricky being emotionless and least bothered about his family and only concerned about Sharmas. It reminds me of the scene in Dabaang where Salman khan punishes his brother for being wrong in public, but at the end the brother in him wakes up and tears roll out to see his brother condition after being hit. Rishi has been very ignorant about his family.
4) Ricky takes finanical help from diwans but never has the gratitude for that nor wants to be a son who could fulfill their parent dreams.

Awesomely Said Mahesh.

You just nailed it. Exactly these are the reasons Rishi's character has been sabotaged.

Mahesh 👏

Wonderful analysis. My 2 cents in response

Lack of Self-respect:
All the points you have raised are valid. But I think the lens you are looking with is limited. He put up with a lot of BS till now, not primarily because of his love for Indira, but because of guilt for paralyzing Vidith and in doing so, taking away a "presumed" source of income as well as emotional succor for the family. this accident was life changing for Vidith and he is still captive to the guilt and will remain captive until Vidith stands on his own two feet. But I think some form of guilt will continue the rest of his life.

that is what puzzles me. If Sharmas were smart they would have Indira wed Rishi ASAP and then guilt trip him into making nice with his father and getting back into the business fold.

Failed son:
I violently agree with you. One minute rishi is taking blessing from the ground where his mum stood and the next, he forgets that she is in jail and is busy romancing his MMji. this was so disgusting, it is unbelievable. I did not watch HD with any enthusiasm last week and all the cute Inshi scens from last week are tainted for me.

How could the CVs commit such a blunder? TheWhat was the rush to show the romance. It could have waited one episode. Friday's episode could have been about Rishi taking care of Simi and Indira realizing how deep her feelings for Rishi were. One episode separation would have been good for them.

I also think that Rishi's childhood was way worse than Indira's. Childhood trauma defines us and makes us who we are as adults.

Indira's childhood was filled with her father's love. She herself says that she used to baost about her father. Her mother during those days appears to be harmless mother who is completely besotted with her husband. For Indira, tragedy happened when she was 16/17. Thats is when Indier became captive to Jhumpa and Indira's world fell apart. But even then she had total love and support from Vidith.

For Rishi, he had the most horrible and traumatic childhood. We have seen scenes of a little 5/6 yr old boy being abused by his father. Even from Sameer we gather that he use to go to bed crying for his mum. His mum most likely was caught up in an alcoholic whirl of society parties. We also know his mum lavished love on Sameer and abused Rishi.

Rishi got abused since the first days of his life. We fully do not know why Simi behaved the way she did. But that level of trauma distorts adult personality a lot. It is amazing that still Rishi has turned out the "good" person he is. It is credit to his own internal moral compass.

But it created a desperate, intense need for love in him that he is trying to fill with Indira.

very nice post and valid points raised by other members😛 but actually i think cvs love to do experiment with every character and isske chakkar me they destroyed the charm of our street smart hero 😕 ok now back to the post..

after the court case we all r expecting ki rishi should have leave SN for sometime but what we got to see that dream seQuence 😲 (personally i dint lyk that much)...and i was thinking that it is dream of indu and she is in so much in rishi so she is lyk lost in all his thoughts..

and i hate cvs for the reason they compromising with rishi's self-respect😡 why??
and why the well always marriage track i mean marriage track can wait for some time(although i love inshi and dun problem wid marriage) and first let him settle in his life..make him strong financially ...make him serious for his career..after the rape case i was thinking now we get to see lawyer rishi..but nahi 😡..

But still we love rishi so much and no matter what we always support him..and i think we might get to see ricky diwan 😳 😆
