Hey fellow Rishisians, Sumitians. Rickians

I know most of us have been truly disappointed with the curveball the story threw post the rape trial. Most of us were very happy to see the growth both physically as well as mentally in Rishi's charcater as he tackled taking on his family and getting justice for Mandira. Most of us had extremely high hopes when Rishi did the famous walk down the courtsteps. The story could have gone in so many interesting directions such as both Rishi and Indira growing, Indira coming to terms with his feelings, Rishi gaining a bit of perspective from being perpetually hostage to either guilt stemming from Vidith accident or love for his Indira. To see him doing something other than taking care of Sharma family would have been a treat. But really, most of all we needed to see both leads take some time off each other to come to terms with themselves - their real selves.

But our hopes got dashed and Rishi is back to being a slave to Sharma family, and loosing all the gravitas, not to mention good set of clothes as well as an adorable stubble😳

Matters were not helped by the fact that the storyline is back to the "marriage track" where the marriage happens, does not happen etcetra, etcetra, etcetra!

This has made some of the die-hard Rishi fans get extremely disappointed and a few have really turned anti-Rishi and anti-HD.

My plea is please come back

Perhaps we need to also gain some perspective and speculate at the many reasons this might be so.

  1. story arc.
There could be something that the writers want to achieve with the upcoming marriage. We can all now read between the lines and gather this past hastily put together Rishi-Indira marriage was due to IPL trp effects as well as huge rejection to the Rishi-Mandira marriage. Thus the purpose of this wedding was a few good Inshi scenes, Indira laughing etc...provide a positive interlude before something major happens

  2. Rishi's growth, or lack thereof
One part is his taking on his family. Perhaps the PH does not have resources yet, or it is too early to move the story from SN to Diwan family and show Rishi taking on his family. There is also the issue of he alone cannot be shown dealing with his family. The show is HD. So Indira has to be with him, or somehow leading the charge. So the story has to follow this trajectory

  3. Writers finding their feet with the recent turnaround
I stated somewhere that I really feel that someone set the PANIC button off when the rating took the hit with IPL and everybody rejected the big twist of Manshi. This must have created a huge gaping hole in the storyline that the writers now are trying to fill with another twist of that magnitude that can carry the show for at least 3 months or so. So we have to be patient

Please guys, lets come out of our rut of thinking of Rishi in a derogatory manner. It would be no different than people who quit HD because Sumit was not to their liking or did not accept him as Indira's lover.

HD is at a tenous moment right now as it is trying to regain its footing. Please have patience. Afterall this is the PH that brought us HD with its wonderful characters as well as took risk of casting SV, and staying true to that decision despite the continuous push to have him thrown out. Least we can do is lend our support while they find their bearings.

i mean u remember the golden days of hd

i couldnt stop my praises for rishi and sumit

the smart hero
how amazing his character was then
i used to wait when rishi was gonna light up the screen with his masti antics 😆

but its like this sharma nivas vaastu has finally got to him
the depressing slave like devotion for that family
i agree he loves indira and so does indira but still theres just something not right with his character now

i hope things get back to normal with him
because i really really loved rishi kumar diwan the smart kirayeedar😳

You have put it down very well...I always thought someone or some people were repeatedly trying to influence the script of HD...and pressuring it unnecessarily...This did affect their original storyline and now they are baffled...

They are trying to draw a balance of what viewers want and what they can show...So...let us give them their required time...even they are human beings after all

If not the grown up Rishi, I will take the smart Kirayedaar anyday.
But adiya, my plea is we have to be patient. Since the trial ended a week from last Thursday, we have had 7 episodes in which they had to show the wooing by Rishi, the unforseen marriage as well as some cute Inshi moments. There was no space for showing the old, streetsmart Rishi.

The roman tic scenes by default center around the heroine's reactions to her lover's amorous advances. This is what we have been seeing. So Rishi had no space to show anything other than his loving self.

Now if it continues month after month, then it will be a problem. But I think 7 episodes is not that much of time.

Plus we also have to take into consideration that we admire his steadfast love. Rishi cannot exist without his love. Secondly we all want growth in the characters. So Rishi cannot be that loveable kiraayedaar of first couple of months. Presently he is in his "love-sick" phase. Hope we get to see other aspects of his personality and growth soon

So, please hang in there. Lets provide our critique so that people are aware of what his going wrong and that we are not blindly accepting all the cr*p that they throw at us. But in teh meantime, we too should not hug our disappointments too close, lest they overwhelm us

first of thank you for this post..i was so disheartened that i was completely inactive last week..i logged in just to comment here..
ok, you convincingly tried to throw a light on what might be the reasons for all this which is happening in the show for now..but still i am not convinced..
for the first point about the story, i really hope there would be something that the writers want to achieve with the installment marriage and all they have shown last week, but if not i will be even more disappointed..and about Manshi, they already knew audience would never accept it, then why to even think of it and affect further story for it..were they testing fans to see if we really love InShi or not..i think by thinking of Manshi only they lost many things and had to rush for InShi..and was marriage really needed? indira could have laughed for many other sensible things..was marriage the only solution? her life could have changed with love only..

about second point about PH not having sources, i don't agree but yes it may have been early to shift from SN to diwans but they could have shown growth in Rishi's character for sure..like, finding job, trying to get a separate house to live as, if he wanted to marry indira it was needed to settle first, that would have been appropriate with his character.. indira could have been with him..pyar me bhi log sath dete hai yaar..aisa nahi hai ke sirf shaadi ke baad dete hai..

about third point i agree but about Manshi i stated above only..

So, i cannot show sympathy for CVs..unhone apnehi pairope kulhadi maar li hai long back for many things..let's see if they can really get back to original HD and original characters..

mitsi

I too did not post much during last week. I could not even be bothered to go to their profiles and comment.

My disappointment at the turn of the serial post rape trial is acute. There is an american movie called the "Ground hog day" where the same day gets repeated again and again. I think HD is presently stuck in that cycle and is looking desperately for a way to come out of the marriage cycle.

I am all for getting a job and then worry about marriage. Pre March job was not a problem for Rishi as he appeared to be getting money from Diwans or his past work in US. Then he was shown to ahve given all his savings to Sharmas so that they agree to his marriage. Now he has no money and no job, yet he appears to be flush with money, paying the doctor's bills, his expenses, Radhe's expenses etc. Where is he getting this money from?

They have really dumbed Rishi down to a point where he is nothing but a love-sick appendage of HD. But I still say, hang in there. He was focussed on his "lawyering" till seven episodes ago. So give him some time and he will be doing something, if nothing but adopting another profession to suit the demands of the script😉😆

for now, the CVs appear to be focusing on the marriage and teh twist they want to have come about. Hope it is a big one that propels the story forward.

I mentioned in another thread that the story needs to slow down to show some introspection in characters, why they do an about face etc. Why did Inder change so suddenly? It is a big mystery to me. It is these kind of holes that are leaving the viewers dis-oriented. I wish the CVs would pay attention to logical progression of characters. There is some suspension of disbelief, but this much gives the audience a whiplash

I have refrained from posting anything analytical since 13th April (the day the stupid dream sequence started) because frankly speaking I think I do not understand Rishi any longer. Trying this post just for u Jem😊 dont know how it will turn out! As always i will go point wise:

Fans have turned anti - rishi
: Not really. They are against this new Rishi whom they do not recognize at all. The change in his character is that drastic.

Story Arc: Hope atleast something is achieved by this on - off marriage thing. till now they have ruined rishi, indira, inshi (atleast for me) & mocked the whole institution of marriage. God alone knows where they are heading wid this stuff. About the IPLs & ManShi, neither should have come as a surprise. IPLs were planned well in advance + the CVs knew the popularity of Inshi (which is the same as the audiences not liking indu & rishi being paired wid anybody else)...so y experiment in a crucial phase like the IPLs? is dis adventurous, insensitive or plain foolish?

Rishis growth
: I accept the story is all about Indira, but then if Rishi is supposed to be her partner, then well his character too should get some importance if not as much as hers. And this importance is not in terms of screen space but in terms of well defined character growth. STOP using Rishi as a filler. You make him do comedy, make him fight sometimes, beat him up at will, he shows a bit of self respect, then suddenly he is a loser, one moment he is delivering killer one liners, after a few months he utters lines which make even his die hard fans cringe! WTH! will the real Rishi please stand up! This is an important character in the show...whether anybody likes it or not, admits it or not. He is an asset, use him properly. He can make or break your show. CVs recognize this & give him his due!

Writers finding their feet: i have already written about ManShi above. This could have been avoided had they not experimented with Rishis character as & how they wished. The makers promised us something different. Was the plot of ManShi different? Why even head for something which is so old & so boring?

The worst part for me that this 'no -twist' (the twist being Rishi leaving SN for good after the case) has brought is that Rishi completely lost his self respect. And self respect once lost can never be regained. Never esteem anything as of advantage to you dat will make u lose your self respect.,...is all i will like to say to Rishi.

ur post is good and i agree with the point of the CVs losing track soemtimes in between but theres just one thing about rishi that i havent liked- and thats the not feeling bad about his family post the court scenes otherwise i havent found him to be treated derogatory at all.

overall im happy with rishi though not with the serials pace
