Yesterday's episode was so disgusting that it seemed a pointless waste of time to watch it and even more worthless to try and make sense of it. But then, something occurred to me this morning (bang in the midst of a day choked with deadlines) and I wanted to put it out here to find out what you guys think.
If we suspend our disgust at the events of the last two episodes and think of everything that has happened in them as part of Indira's 'dream' (which has gone on pretty long), a few things start making sense. Such as Rishi's unseemly haste in wanting to marry Indira just after getting two of his closest family arrested.
Those who are in tune with Rishi's character would be able to identify the dissonance in his behaviour over the last two episodes. He is out of character. I'm sure many Rishi fans would have said "This is not the Rishi we know!" The Rishi we know would not send his family to prison and immediately get down to planning his wedding. My guess is that this dissonance is because we are seeing Rishi in the way Indira has visualized him. In her defence, she does not really know another side of him to be able to think of him differently. All through, she has taken his presence in her life for granted. And this is something Rishi has been constantly reinforcing. He has been openly telling her that he will never leave her side.
The other events in the episode, such as her married life, kids, and so on, are perhaps to indicate that she now knows that Rishi is the one for her. She has shed the last vestiges of doubt and distrust and is willing to accept his hand. Earlier too, when she realized that she loved Rishi, that acknowledgement also came through in her dream. I think she makes up for her lack of active introspection by searching her subconscious mind for answers. She seeks answers to the big questions in life in her dreams, which she knows and understands as instruments to bring hidden truths to the fore. She yearns to be married and live a normal life. She wants a husband and kids.
In the 'film' that she sees with Rishi, not a single member of her family is present. Not even her laadla Ishaan. It's as though she has no other responsibilities. But in her 'dream', which I think comprises the remaining events of the two episodes, they are all there exhibiting their normal behaviour. They will serve as reality checks and jolt her out of her dream. They are reminders of her responsibilities. Which she is now willing to share with Rishi.
Coming to the Mandira accusation in the precap, it is perhaps Indira's guilt surfacing. She perhaps thinks that she has no right to be happy when her sister is so unhappy and going through so much.
I think she will wake up into a reality in which Rishi is no longer around her. He is probably somewhere else dealing with his own demons. That's when the universe will swing into action and bring the couple together. Amen to that!
I'm finally done. Over to you guys. Please feel free to concur/ poke holes in this theory...as you think fit.
