Ashwini Kalsekar seems to have quite the penchant for playing the baddie on screen. The actress who was last seen playing the role of Hirabai on Jhansi Ki Rani will now be seen entering Hitler Didi as Rani Bhatia a sharp tongued, scheming lawyer who fights the impending rape case. With a ruthless, mercenary approach, Ashwini's character will leave Indira's side as soon as she is offered more money by the opposition.
"I think the audience has accepted me as a baddie since they enjoyed my evil expressions and scheming demeanor across previous roles in shows like Kasamh Se and films like Phoonk and Rakht Charitra. So I typically get offered roles of either steely women or outright baddies. But no complaints whatsoever as I enjoy playing the villain. Where's the fun in playing Miss goody two shoes? (laughs) In Hitler Didi, I will be playing the role of a lawyer to the Diwan family where Sameer has been accused of rape. My character is that of a powerful, successful woman who has found fame and wealth through her prowess as a successful lawyer. As Rishi's ex-professor, though I agree to fight the case for Indira, I will switch my loyalties to the side that offers more money. With each character that I have played, be it Hirabai or Jigyaasa or the current role of Rani, if there's one thing in common, it is the fact that each of them is intelligent and strong."
Given Ashwini's penchant for playing strong, aggressive sharp-tongued women like Hirabai of Jhansi Ki Rani and Jigyaasa of Kasamh Se, she should pull this one off with ease.
Hitler Didi airs Monday to Friday at 8 PM on Zee TV.
