Happy 42nd birthday to J.K. Rowling!

J.K. Rowling, who was born on July 31, 1965, is 42 years old today. J.K. Rowling was born in Yate, near Bristol, a few miles south of a town called Dursley. She dreamt up Harry Potter while stuck on a train delayed for four hours between Manchester and London in 1990. It took her six years to write the first book.

Happy 60th birthday to Richard Griffiths!

Richard Griffiths, who was born in Thornaby-on-Tees, England on July 31, 1947, is 60 years old today. Richard Griffiths plays Harry's nasty uncle Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter movies. He's also appeared in Guarding Tess, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan and Superman II, and won a Tony for his performance in History Boys.
