i dunno, this question never occured to me, because it is true, they sort according to wat u can do and are capable of, and some certain traits, so obviously snape was placed there because of some certain properties about him.

but the ques that does bother me is, well voldie was halfblood, the freakin decendant of slytherin was a half blood, but most slyhterins are biased ot that. i mean malfoy even mocked hermione fo rthat, soo, why? his fathers master, one of the most powerful wizards is haflblood, why make fun of osmeone who is the same??

Ahan..this is one interesting question ruks!
I think that not all of Voldemort's followers are pure-blood too and all of them are from Slytherin
It probably depends on the qualities you have, and not on the basis of pure and half blood. Harry had Voldemort's qualities like parselmouth, but then that waswhat the head of SLYTHERIN could do, so maybe, it all depends of what qualities flow in your blood, and not the type of "blood" you are..

Hope your questions are cleared.

Aaah I disagree here....I don't think that the Sorting Hat considers blood before sorting you. There're are many Slytherins who are half-blood (I'm slightly doubtful about muggle-borns) and I think that they hide the fact that they're half-blood. Just like Snape did and also Voldemort...

Ofcourse all in Slytherin house are not evil! The thing about Slytherins is that, most of them come from old pure-blood families which practice their old, ancient customs....Customs which are frowned at by modern wizarding society. And old pure-blood families are also biased and very much prejudiced against muggle-borns. So the chldren who are raised in pureblood families also grow up on the same values.

And while all this stuff about pure-bloods is definitely not great...it was how it was in the ancient days..so they feel as if they're doing nothing wrong. And even though they're def. bigoted fools who feel they're superior...they don't go around having mass killings like Dark wizards like Grindelwald and Voldemort do....
Anyways...JKR has shown there are good slytherins also...like slughorn..even though they are few in number😉😆

so.. that means that if a muggle-born has dark intension's with the world.. dark things to do.. they can be put in slytherin.. rite??

snape's mum must have had that kind of a family which is related to dark items and so snape's mum told him the same thing.. and he got himself in the dark things and so he was put in slytherin..???

so didn't the people in slytherin made life hell for snape because he was a half-blood...??

loads of my doubts are cleared.. thanks to all who helped

ummm...loadz of people in other houses are pure-blood too...how come they're not in Slytherin.
Well the best answer can be given to us by JKR...but to console OUR queries, we can just say that the sorting hat expects more qualities than just being a pure-blood...we can c that Sirius, James and I suppose Lupin were pure bloods, but they were all in Gryffindor...then Seamus was also one...and he wasn't even brave! and neither was Neville, (a pure blood) but they were in Gryffindor...so I s'pose u cant just u know like stick to one thing, there are always more qualities that u look for...
