Lajjo marriage gets broken when she stands up against dowry the groom's family is demanding. Lajjo foot gets stuck while crossing river at high tide. She wants to go to city to study further and stand on her own feet. Nikhil saves Lajjo. They have to spend night there till the water subsides. Since Lajjo has sprained her ankle Nikhil carries her home in his arms. The villagers gets furious seeing this. Nikhil tries to explain them but in vain. Dadaji asks Nikhil to marry Lajjo to save her reputation. Nikhil denies initially and later agrees to marry Lajjo.
