Awdesh sat beside the bed with Arpitha's hand in his. He looked worried and let his fingers caress her forehead gently while she was fast asleep resting. The bandage on her hand disturbed her. She cuddled in her bed. Awdesh watched her and helped her rest comfortably. He watched her silently. Flashes of the past came straight in front of him.
It was a year ago. Arpitha was preparing for her term exams seriously in her college garden. Awdesh came that way to meet his friend. He walked past her and something wanted him to turn around. But he ignored that feeling and continued towards his friend. Arpitha looked at him carefully from behind and she was struck by something unusual.
Arpitha (to Awdesh)—"Excuse me"
Awdesh turned around. He could see only her pretty face in front of him. Arpitha spoke to him. But everything seemed to be in mute for him. He was just completely lost in her innocent face. Her flying hair was adding to her beauty. She looked amazing in short kurtha with a pencil in her hand. Arpitha's attire was so cute that he felt like kissing her on her cheek. He smiled at his silly thought. Since Awdesh was lost in his own thought s and didn't respond to her, arpitha became annoyed.
Arpitha (Waving her hand in front of his face)—"Hello…I am talking to you. Are you listening to me?"
Awdesh coming out of his trance identified the world around him and looks back at her.
Awdesh —"yeah. What do you want?"
Arpitha (surprised)—"what you mean by that, I am shouting from the past 10 minutes to step away from my bag. You are standing on my bag."
Awdesh looks down and steps back. He picks up her bag, dusts it and hands it over to her. Arpitha holds it and waits for him to leave it from the other end. Awdesh holds it and is not in the mood to leave it. Arpitha looks back at him questioning why he is not leaving her bag. He smiles and leaves the bag free. Arpitha puts her pencil in her bag and starts to move away from him. Awdesh is still watching her and desperately wanted her to look back. Arpitha hurries without looking back. He takes a deep breath and exits from there.
After his meeting is over with his friend, he comes back to the very same place of the garden where he saw arpitha in the morning. He sits there in some blind hope that she may come down to meet him. He waits till its dark and finally retires to go back. He was about to leave when he heard the sweet noise made by the bangles of some girl. He quickly hides behind the tree. Arpitha silently comes towards the spot and sits down with her bag. Seeing that no one is around, she pulls out her dairy and starts to write seriously. Awdesh watched her silently. He didn't want to disturb her. She would smile sometimes and blush the other.
A girl—"Arpithaaa. Come dear, we are getting late"
Arpitha closes herd dairy in haste and in a hurry drops her book behind and leaves the garden. Awdesh watches this and goes behind her with the book. But she is already gone. Awdesh searches for her and gives up. He looks down at the dairy in his hands. He looks around if anyone is watching him. He goes towards a bench and settles down. He places it on the bench beside him and closes his eyes in rest. Memories of the morning come in front of him. Her sweet little face disturbs him continuously. Air adds to his desperateness by blowing harder. His hair flies in all directions and irritates him. He opens his eyes and finds the book open and it's fortunately the same page that arpitha wrote earlier.
Awdesh hesitates initially but somehow tells his heart that he is not wrong and starts reading the dairy.
"Dear dairy. Today went on very well I gave my final exam. I am happy that finally my term exams are over. Apart from all this, something unusual happened today. I met a person*this bought a slight smile on Awdesh's face*. He is very manly. He teased me a bit. I liked it but didn't let him know that. He is good. I don't know why, but somehow I know he is a nice person. All my tension on giving the exam vanished with his smile.
Must tell you dairy he has a very sweet smile. Wish I could meet him again. I think I am thinking more about him. I must not, but the next moment he is again in my thought dairy, I don't know what to do. Help me out of this feeling dairy. What might he be thinking at this point of time? Does he remember me at least?
Dairy, am I falling for him????????????????????
No…no…Arpitha no….He is a stranger and let him be so.
Ok cya….bye dairy…Luv you loads and loads…miss me luv….byeee
LUV,
Arpitha"
Awdesh's happiness knew no bounds. He understood that arpitha was equally disturbed after their meeting that morning. He desperately waited for the next morning to meet her in person and tell her that he felt the same. He loved her too.
