One of the best Maha episodes EVER!!!

The entire episode was absolutely fantastic but I am sooo stuck in the Durgesh mode! I feel so sad that this track was not given a worthy ending..I mean, I know we did not want any more troubles in the Gul Kes relationship but as a character I feel that Durgesh should have been given a final farewell of some sorts...just like Dushyant maybe? As much as I love Dushy 😍 I was really really happy that we got an entire episode where he got to confess his crime and show off his brilliance...Sushant just shone in that final epi. I would have liked that for Durgesh as well...😭

Srushy, your caps pretty much say it all...I was stuck to my screen from the point Durgesh's eyes worriedly followed Vasant and MB...he knew he was done for and that Vasant would spill his beans but he was hopeful that Gulaal would accept him for who he was. I think that in a way Gulaal's nimmat became a problem for her because people started mistaking her for a goddess whereas in truth she was a regular girl with a gift. Even in Talsagara, the villages wanted Gulaal's blessings and that is where Durgesh's naivety stemmed from. His bhakti and devotion led him to believe that he was in fact getting married to a devi and that a devi would never turn down a huge devotee like him...after all...she would be above these mortal, human feelings right? I think, he took it as a blessing that his rishtaa had been fixed with maa herself...poor guy...he did not realize that Gulaal was such a regular girl and most of all that she had already given her heart to someone...

That entire scene where Gulaal meets Durgesh was so well played out. Till the point she refused him point blank, he was under the illusion that he was doing no wrong by expecting her to become his wife...but slowly frame by frame Gulaal shattered his illusions...I felt so sorry for him when he said - kyaa hum insaan nahi hote hai? It was amazing the way she stood her ground and the way she offered to take the fall for him...she was ready to let him smear her name just so that no one would find out his secret. It is true when they say that too many cooks spoil the broth because that is what happened ultimately. Vasant spoke to MB and Dushy, Revji spoke to Poonam, Revji confronted Duggus father, Dushy jumped in, Vasant laid the final blow by asking Duggu to take that kasam. Had Gullu and Duggu sorted this out amongst themselves...the situation would not have gotten so out of control. These Talsagara boys don't know how to deal with tense situations...Kesu spilled the secret Gullu had kept for 10 years in 10 seconds, Dushy could not keep his mouth shut in front of Duggu's father and finally Vasant pushed Duggu over the edge!! 😡

Oh well...so things ended well with Vasant and Gulaal but lots of destruction left in the wake of their love...I don't blame Dushy for being so angry...he pours his heart out to MB and MB goes and asks Revji for Gullu's hand for Vasant. MB should have said something to Dushy..clear the air instead of leaving him standing out in the cold😕 Of course the guy will be furious! Anywho, loved the entire epi...I loved Gullu's Blue chaniya choli...I don't remember her wearing that ever again. Actually I really like all her pre-marriage clothes..make her look so much younger...😊

fab post.the episode looks so beautiful and powerful and your comments make the pictures so lively.Durgesh was the star of the episode i guess.his confrontation scene with Gulaal was outstanding.and you put it so rightly Gulaal has the power to bring men to their knees.WOW.If only Vasant had talked it over with her but if he had the story would not have gone ahead as it did and maybe the beautiful Kesar Gulaal story would not have come into play😕.oh no I can't even think about it.so good all the tamasha took place.usually I don't enjoy all the confrontation scenes and all but Gulaal, the show does these scenes so beautifully.it's a beautiful combination of good actors, powerful dialogues and intense situations.lovely.so the flirting which had been temporarily put on hold has started again.and Dushyant's scene in the desert beautiful.the hug scene good.sorry can't elaborate cause I am more of a Kesar Gulaal fan😆.

and Gulaal did look very attractive in that scene.just wondering what would have happened to out Kesar if he had seen her like this😆😆
once again great post Srushti .enjoyed it thoroughly.

lovely comparisons, all three of them.the second was great.excellent timing.I like the rightwala hug in the third one because it was a perfect end to their push and pull chemistry.the expressions on both Kesar and Gulaal's face, the happiness of finally getting the love they both had been craving for.it was a sweet moment especially with the beautiful piyu maari music in the bg.

Oh wow - this now was truly ME deserving epic content!

So much ground work laid for the future track right here - I bet everyone has undergone this emotion some 5353673487374598450958645 times over, but I shall never get enough of crediting the writers for the credibility they grant to the craziest, most unimaginable inexplicable of twists! The entire bunch of episodes I sat watching last 2-3 hours or so, have been tremendous, in pace, but all the more so in credibility of content. Until I saw that FB of how Gulaal was named Gulaal, and espcially how she came to be uniquely gifted - I'd always thought that even the writers of this show had relented to something obscure in the plot - but no, they settled that, even if only with a reason that can be termed divinely unusual and not 'logically satisfied' - it was such a powerful ground work to explain Gulaal's neyamat. And now for all my rant on how unfair Duggu had been in even accepting to marry a girl - whoever she may be - the writers come forth with such a strong script to explain that angle. No, it doesn't justify Duggu for a second, and my grudge remains - but I feel so proud of this script we love so much, for 'addressing' the matter with such thorough approach! As has always been the case for every kind of grey character in this show - minus Raman who we conveniently ignore - the CVs show what brings any human to their decisions, they show the reasons and groundwork, and convictions which underplay any decision or circumstance - right or wrong, it is dealt with. So the fact that Duggu never consented to marriage until now, actually condones him of some blame, and when he explains to Gulaal why he jumped at this proposal, empathy or not, you are forced to accept his reason as genuine. Gulaal's repulsion is just, her cross retorts are fair and square, and Duggu falling guilty to them just had to happen! Kudos to the dialogue where Gulaal tells him his intention had been for her to learn the truth only after - yes! That exactly, is where the 'temptation' took over Duggu and made him make this very wrong call to marry - the temptation of this full and final seal of a normal life, in addition to being granted a special blessing from 'Ma' in the form of someone gifted like that! Cursed or not, Duggu is human, and this is his first, and maybe only in the show, unassuming human error, giving in to a wrong temptation. Hereafter, its all evil play, the grey becomes charcoal black. Anyway - for now, the scene between Gulaal and Duggu played out so amazingly well - it should have been nominated for and been awarded for being one of the most incredibly unusual and excellently well executed scene on TV! Such a sensitive topic, such brilliant script and acting and no melodrama, even here! 👏 No credit is enough. Kudos to the actor playing Duggu, his portrayal of an eunuch is 10/10! His smile when he first entered the house towards the in-laws-to-never-be has such a strong hint of his true form! And his open shielding with the dupatta in Gulaal's room is so well done! 👏

btw - on a side note, the MD guy reminds me horrible of Kareena's fiance in 3 Idiots! *rolls eyes* some jerks never learn a lesson jeez! 😡

As for the ground work laid for future - I love again, how careful the CVs are to keep the hints in tact! There are so many ways Duggu's secret could have come out, or even be kept hushed forever - but how does it come out? Dushyant and Vasant play instruments - and boy, do they pay for it with their lives! Vasant, literally, and Dushyant, even worse, in the figurative sense. The fact that Dushyant prompts the first call on bringing out this disgraceful fact to the fore - makes him in an odd twisted way almost entirely responsible for Vasant's death - not just in completing the task by throwing him over, as we see countless times in FBs later, but in seeding the inception of it all, right here! And Vasant striving to end the matter once and for all by putting Duggu on a spot - it reminds me of this quote from Mahabharta (a translated essence of it, since I know nothing of sanskrit) which implies how when end draws near, the one to die works on the means of his death all by himself, without knowing... how the one to die, first loses his 'vivek' or ability to reason/logic! Interestingly, the last person in the room one would expect to make a public spectacle of such a dark secret would be a righteous man like Vasant - his kind of people, like his father MB, would sooner keep the matter within the 4 walls and resolve it like that, and not produce Ma pictures and force a Duggu to pledge his honesty! What compels Vasant to such an extreme uncharacteristic measure?! Well, the fact that this is going to pave the way to his not so far from end! He's literally laying down one foundation brick in the grand scheme of things that will lead to his murder...

And Gulaal's horror at it all?! Evident all over her face. I have to add how much in awe and respect of her character I was, when she greeted Duggu in her room with the tilak, and told him, he/she was still that bhakt from the temple to her. To someone like her whose being so wronged, coming out clean and just in such an objective manner - her character just rose several notches there - the golden heart shinning. And if that wasn't enough, she actually offers Duggu the option of 'tarnishing' her image, putting at stake the 'izzat' of her entire family, only to save him grace, to save him the loss of his 'make believe' world and its love and respect. Imagine the extent of Gulaal's benignity here, which gives this person who was going to cheat her out of her future, a clean escape by taking it on herself... Yes, she knows Vasant will still accept her - but its a large heart that can do something hence! In a way, unknown to her, if her plan had worked, she would have actually saved Vasant's life. Or well, at least this attempt to murder him in the future, even if he'd have to die one way or the other courtesy her 'fate to marry two'. Instead, fate takes a U-turn, and Duggu who would have died if Gulaal married him, as the first husband, lives long and in fact becomes responsible for designing her widowhood!

Anyway - I find it really really well woven, the facts that Dushyant and Vasant in knowing or unknowing ways are the ones who earn all of Duggu's wrath, and fare the worst of it. That Gulaal suffers on their account is only a temporary arrangement - because hello, there will come along a saffron boy to save her day for good ☺️ And that Dushyant suffers more than Vasant - by living his penance than dying for it - is because his intention was evil, while Vasant was purely settling the matter, OTT perhaps in his suddenly awakened hope to have Gulaal in his life after all! Sigh!...

---

Okay, yet to watch the second half of this episode... off to do that!

Continuing from above...

---
So the truth is out, and boy, look at that high and mighty on his own horse MD rushing out, bad mouthing Gulaal to save himself grace - no he doesn't give 2 hoots about his son's grace, he's too selfish a man to think of anyone before himself, even his own son... or well, whatever.

Honestly, when MB later on consoles Revji, tells him not to blame himself for a fault that is not his to bear - I though MB was too much a gentleman to say only simple things like that - I would have had a few things of my own to add, like you have any idea what this man walked out and said about your daughter? Like are you seriously still not aware of how much effort he put into showing you down every chance he could?! The only damn reason he was even there in Rashipur with the rishta made years ago - was not to complete the damn vow, my foot! It was the only rishta his dear good old perfect son gave his nod to - and yes, we all now know the reason for that! I can spend a post bad mouthing this man - and how didn't deserve that darn heart attack - because that was almost going too easily for the kind of jerk he was! 😡 Not to mention it led to lots of vengeance and havoc courtesy his good old bhakt half son.

But I'll move on to better things. So when MB and Dushy had that talk, I asked myself why, oh why, did MB not tell Dushyant his intention was to ask for the rishta but in Vasant's name?! Why did he let Dushy assume he was not the one! And then it occurred to me eventually, that in MB's mind, he wasn't betraying Dushyant. No. He had no idea about 'Dushyant's obsession' with Gulaal. To him, Dushy's offer to take Gulaal for a wife may have been merely a noble gesture to save her grace because of how much she has done for them. And I suppose because he may have perceived Dushyant's proposal only as one as harmless as that - a saving grace gesture - he didn't deem to clarify. Its hard to work out what exactly went in his mind to not correct Dushy - but it was certainly not double crossing... he knew GV were meant to be, and it had been so obvious to anyone - basically he had no idea how far the consequences of this unintentional betrayal would go!

Btw - talking of Dushyant, this episode showed the first time Dushyant actually rejoiced Gulaal's misery. The way he looked at her, sitting somewhat devastated by the events, even if she was going to be all peppy shortly from now, lol, the way he had that hint of lurking happiness about her rishta breaking, was like a predecessor of the time he would rejoice, yet again, in her misery, when she turned a widow. How he would, in her loss, seek his own gain then - was visible in its making right here. Because on the other hand was Vasant - who instead of jumping for joy at path clearance, was sitting there so sad about how nasty things had turned for Gulaal and her family. Even if the obvious luck and fate of their alliance stared right in his face, here he was just upset for the disgrace Gulaal faced for no fault of her own! How different and in contrast with the chance par dance brother Dushyant 😆 Wo alag baat hai, that Gulaal herself was soon enough rejoicing her own broken rishta 😆 She and Dushy could have done a dance number khushi mein, together here 😆 And Vasant the dimwit in love would have sat watching... 😆

As for the proposal scene, MB asking for Gulaal's hand - I was so distracted looking at PooBaa using her ghoonghat - it reminded me of countless other times later when Gulaal would use this ghoonghat defense for herself 😆 All the drama in the genes!

Yogesh and Vasant hugging - yet again I was thinking of how mean this brother in law was to Kesar [oh I detest the new Yogesh!]

Btw - who was reminded of DDLJ scene where Kajol shares her European love escapade with her mother and angry old father walks in and hears it - when Gullu was excitedly telling PooBaa how she would now hook up with Vasant, and Revji walked in on a smiling Gulaal in the face of a broken rishta 😆 I almost thought he was going to tell her off for it,l but she made timely escape! 😎

Final scene - love love love the portrayal of Dushyant trying desperately and in anguish to gather firm holds in sand - something that is always synonymous with relationships and how they cannot be held in a closed fist! Excellent symbolism there - and all the proof, that his greatest sin in committing murder was far more driven by this competitive revenge and sense of betrayal than the obsession for Gulaal herself!

Duggu - getting a FB of Vasant as the one to have wronged him, like I said, in his uncharacteristic haste to bring the curtains down, Vasant truly did lay down one significant foundation brick to pave way for his own end...

And finally - GV reveling in a future, of dreams, of everyone's happiness, after bringing the curtains down on two formidable foes... yeh right you lovebirds - wait and watch 😆 jitna ishq ladana tha, wo flirting shirting mein beet gaya - ab to tail end to pass, and then blood and gore and action! But just in this scene, I love how the female and male version of Piyu Maari merges for their hug ☺️

Btw - PooBaa giving motherly approval to Vasant in marking the 'alliance' - I was like, yeh this woman always had her eyes on this guy for her daughter. Always. She for one never stopped Gulaal from being such an open blatant flirt - even though she knew all along about Gullu's bachpan ka rishta! 😉 But then even that justifies in a way. The whole Gulaal never knew about it deal - it justifies, because I think the rishta talk only came up all over again, when Gulaal became famous with her gifted self, and then Duggu gave his consent to the first ever rishta - else, that so called sworn rishta was never coming from the proud and mighty MD to the oh so lowly humble Revji's house!

phew - one tremendous ME! So much happening *wipes a brow* Kudos to every segment executed! 👏
