Continuing from the 'Aur Tu' scene, we go on to the puja which involved Gulaal, Kesar and our very very loved Talli.

On one side you have this oozing tension between Kesar and Gulaal, on the other you have this smiling moron in the form of Talli who seems to have a hanger in her mouth even when Kesar is so obviously not in the mood. How can someone be so ignorant?! Anyway, back to our phavourite couple! 😍

They are made to sit together reluctantly and it was so interesting to see the Gulaal who was caressing Kesar so easily few moments ago, hesitated before she put her hand on his arm and rightly so because Kesar was far from happy (actually mann mein toh ladoo phut rahe hoge). The fire was symbolic of Kesar's raging emotions and I remember how often that flashback was repeated over and over again. It haunted him THAT much!! Kesar and Gulaal never had to anything OTT to portray that tension-filled chemistry, it was just there! So much so that you really could cut it with a knife...

While the barbie doll continues to live in her own world with the Ken who was never hers, Gulaal senses the ripples in Kesar. Eventually Kesar looks glares down and nudges his arms away :( I felt the silent sadness in Gulaal. She has no idea why she is being treated like this by her Kesar! Little does she know, this was just the beginning of a dorment volcano awakening.

Big thanks to Jzee for providing us with the HQ videos! Here's the moment when Kesar walks down wearing the red kurta:

At first I thought Galool was admiring him because she still had that faint smile on her face but it soon turned in to a frown. Loved the double meaning in the dialogues!
G: Why didn't you wear the clothes I chose for you?
Translation: Why don't you approve of Talli whom I chose for you?
K: I didn't like them.
Translation: I don't like your Jhalli Talli.
G: You didn't like them? But you always wore clothes of my choice.
Translation: You don't like Talli? But you always did what I told you to do.
K: That was years ago. Now I choose my likes and dislikes. After staying at boarding school for so many years, I have learnt how to take my own decisions.
Translation: My like is you...my dislike is Talli!!!

Jzee, I just realised the part where Kesar walks down the stairs iss video mein nahi hai :(

@ bold bits - word. While the first scene, and then the aur tu scene show Gulaal pushing away her ebbing awareness of undercurrents - once Kesar walks down those stairs - not having bid her choice - and telling her times and things and choices have changed... Gulaal begins to lose her 'ground'. When she sits in the puja, she's had her first blunt - if not rough of roughest - snub from Kesar, and the hesitance is natural. Kesar's death glare in return doesn't help.

I think what's really awesome in this bit is how double edged the sword of Kesar's reaction is! One edge is reserved to cut her - and the other one simultaneously works on him. This is not even a point where he's softening for her - not for a momentary lapse even - but paining her shall ever be the greatest pain he can cause himself. We all talk about how long Gulaal took to realize that being a one man army was not always the right solution - whatever the intention. We talked about how - when the DV finally broke - if she hadn't learned her lesson from being in error with her mass good intentions even now, when would she?! But we rarely talk about how long Kesar took to realize that hurting her would never ebb his pain. That what he was looking for was not revenge, but redemption. Ten years of 'punishing' her, was like living inside a flame - does he gather his lesson? Not really. He takes his own sweet time, comes back and unleashes his wrath on her further still! Only causing his own self all the more agony. Interestingly, he never sits and contemplates how the moments when he relents and actually becomes Kesar for Gulaal are the only moments of peace in his period of turmoil. In his fiery FBs of feeling betrayed more than ever, he remembers the happy quick moments and begrudges them, but he doesn't wonder how easy it is to ease this pain. Not until he's borne his share of brunt from its backfiring anyway!

As you said Reemz - little did she know this was only the beginning. And the extent he goes to, with each advancing injury inflicted on her by him - never ceases to shock her! Its like he hits an all time low, with each new turn! Its hard to blame Gulaal for not understanding his love initially - apart from her own mental block, she does live through an uncharacteristic and unbelievable Kesar bad phase to come to terms so fast! Yes we all rejoiced when Kesar told her - kam ya zada, tere tarazu mein hu main humesha galat - but really, she's had reason for that bias, hasn't she?! Like come on, she was this naive believer in her Kesar's word - who when he told her he'd agreed to marry Talli because baat teri jo thi - she believes him. Just to his word. Despite the mad crazy pondside showdown which precedes this decision minutes ago!

And I ended up deviating tons from the scene of discussion - but my point was, Kesar's reaction to Gulaal's touch, and especially his consequent pulling away from her, is entirely a double edged sword! It cuts in parallel swift strokes, as much of him, as of her!

Reemz - sorry I missed gime 10, its uploading now... you can add the written bit for it to your main post though, in the meanwhile?!

And I'll upload my comments right after giving you the additional link. Yes, that was not a minute to miss at all. A lot of significant 'figurative' talking through the 'literal' words.

***

Here's the initial part of the video everyone - between the aur tu scene, and the puja scene, when Kesar comes down. Sorry to miss it before:

Reemz is offline atm, so I'm posting it here, but she'll come put it into the main post when she's online again.

haha love the title, Reemz!😆

Sorry for the delay in caps today...had to run out in the evening:

Anyways, here we go...

I liked the way this shot was framed...this was right after Talli the FOOL asks him about the burnt kurta in his room :P...interesting as always how Vasant's portrait is in the bg

And the pooja begins...patni ji taking her rightful spot albeit reluctantly :P

Kesar ka dhyaan in one direction only as always :P

I thought this moment was very subtly executed but impactful at the same time in showing both their emotions so clearly

Ignoring the fool grinning in the bg :P...Kesar's reactions and the way he looks up at Gulaal is quite interesting

Gulaal has an inkling of something being majorly off and she can't help but glance at Kesar in a worried, unsettled manner

I liked these shots

Especially the look Kesar turned to give to Talli as she continued to grin stupidly at him for no reason...as if he too couldn't believe anyone can be THIS vapid and stupid :P

I loved how subtly they showed Kesar pulling away here as well...no sudden jerk of the arm or anything...he just pulls back and moves his arm out of her reach...a subtle but powerful sign of rejecting her touch...and Gulaal is quite disturbed

And that's about all I have for today...I couldn't manage to get the initial bits with Kesar walking down the stairs in a different colored kurta and Gulaal being thrown off.

All in all, I'd say that in this epi, the first scene and aur tu was the highlight...from here on, for a few scenes, Kesar is going to be MEGA rude to poor Galool :((

My favorites - and vishesh tippani 😆
...but before that, anyone notice how Kesar's angry expression has continued to be, from the second of his first FB at the sight of Dushyant receiving him? However - unlike that scene itself, where his 'angry' look is plain angry, with no undertones and nuances, with Gulaal, it acquires so much more content. There are all those variations to it, the subtle, the sarcastic, the hurt, the fiery, the sardonic... and of course, the cold mirth. With Dushyant, there was just one simple plain bad ass angry look - in a way, although it may well have been Neil still figuring the strings, its almost befitting that his stored in angst is projected in so many shades with Gulaal, and is nearly only dismissively mega-pissed at Dushy. He really was never the focus of Kesar's anger - but interestingly, neither was Kesar's sense of his brother being betrayed even his last justice. In a very in-character streak of selfishness, Kesar's greatest issue was always going to be Gulaal betraying him. Her Kesar. Baaki sab paase hato! 😆 Very, very Heathcliff in that. How complex but human is it, that his greatest selflessness is born from this deep rooted selfish streak?! His love is probably the most divine, yet most human all at once! Like I always say, his sacrifice in love in time to come, is not with the ideal of sacrifice - Gulaal truly leaves him no other option. If there was a way for him to be happy in owning her love, even if it pained her - he would have done it. But his own pain, in her pain, is manifold greater. And although consciously, he is saving her grace and pain by setting her free - really, he is just getting rid of one thorn of the vital few that exist in his love for her.

LOL! Okay, this is totally off the topic, but anyone know about that little narrative from Mahabharata where Krishna tells this bad guy ShishuPaal that his 'sau paap will be maaf' before he is punished? Basically this Shishupaal guy (I've forgotten how he comes to be related to Krishna in this sequence, but I just remember the scene from the show as such) is like bad mouthing Krishna in front of a darbar full of dignitaries and Krishna tells him he can do/say what he likes, but the moment he crosses his 100th mistake limit, he will be punished, and Shishupaal, the bad guy with no brain that he is - prototype for all Kekta evil guys 😆 - ignores the warning, so when he's done with the 100th mistake, Krishna kills him with that infamous sudarshan chakra of his.

My point is - Vasant standing in judgment over all the phamily diraama reminds me of that dialog so very much! Its like he's watching it all with a smile, waiting for the 'sau paap' limit to be crossed before he can strike 😆 And he gets them one by one doesn't he?! Remember Dushyant's scene talking to Vasant's picture when he's beaten and thrown to the floor by MB?!

In Gulaal's case I think it is a reverse case of 'sau sacrifice maaf hain' 🤣 sau ke baad saakshaat bhoot prakat to fix missy Galool 😆

Kesar being Kesuda ko sab maaf hai! 😆

I know this was SO random - but everytime they focus on Vasant's portrait looking over scenes, I think of him being the guy in judgment! Kaise kaise namune chod kar gaya hai peeche! 🤣

And the pooja begins...patni ji taking her rightful spot albeit reluctantly :P

^^ Okay this once, I think her reluctance was less from being called on as wife - and more from A) hurting the FOOL and B) far more from not knowing what to expect standing in Kesar's firing line 😆 Waise na, its all karma coming back. Dude, this girl has been brat enough for a good two decades of her life. Someone had to give her all the attitude back - and obviously Vasant was never going to manage that feat 😆

Kesar ka dhyaan in one direction only as always :P

^^ 🤣 He's got Arjun ki nazar - hilti nahi hai nishaane se, no matter what! 😆 [and okay, I'm on Mahabharat high today - for no reason I can guess 🤔 ] Reminds one of the time his eyes would not stop throwing death glares at Dushyant even when the Gulaal herself tried every coy tactic in the book!

I thought this moment was very subtly executed but impactful at the same time in showing both their emotions so clearly

these two below - amazing expressions and shots from both NB and MP!!! We need Srushti to blob out THE PHOOLWA 🥱 But how subtle and striking was this scene, both, when she touches his arm - the stiffening of it in accord with the stealing of his eyes, and then when he so subtly withdraws away from her touch - OMG, this latter bit was spectacular! You're so right Nur - how far away from cliche is this! He's on live fire, but he doesn't jerk it, or show 'violence' - he sends across his message straight and hitting to Gulaal, the only one who needs to know what he's implying! Kesar is dangerously cold and calculative in that move! The anti-hero at his frigid best!

Especially the look Kesar turned to give to Talli as she continued to grin stupidly at him for no reason...as if he too couldn't believe anyone can be THIS vapid and stupid :P

^^ *head desk* && *facepalm* - she might as well dress in Barbie pink and color her hair blonde next! Fine she's giggly and silly and dreams those *gag* dreams - but seriously, is she blind to that look in his eyes, moments after he 'manhandled' her?! She has a sparrow's brain! 😵

And oh wow at this shot! It's like Gulaal can read his mind for the foreboding ! She was actually even pulling off a smile a couple shots ago, but here she looks to Kesar, and this is when he's having the FB - I suppose she can tell the slightest tensing of his nerves under her next to feather touch over his arm... she actually gets her 'alarm' seconds before he pulls away from her! Fantastic nuances by the actors, and the editing team of course! 👏

Can't help but compare - ek Gullu hai, ek Talli hai *shakes head* look at her gr-eee-ning?! 😕

another lovely shot - they aren't staring at each other, this is the most fleeting of eye-conversation-pieces - but they have one here too!

So true...there is just too much in the way he looks at her...too many emotions to even begin to categorize I feel sometimes...I get lost in the process😆

With Dushyant, there was just one simple plain bad ass angry look LMAO so true...that's like openly badass...his CONTEMPT towards him is obvious in his eyes, his body language. -

In a very in-character streak of selfishness, Kesar's greatest issue was always going to be Gulaal betraying him. Her Kesar. Baaki sab paase hato! 😆 LMAO love the random punjabi phrase😆...sacchi so true in Kesar's case...saari duniya, saare paase hato as far as he is concerned...sir Gulaal naal matlab hai :P

Very, very Heathcliff in that. How complex but human is it, that his greatest selflessness is born from this deep rooted selfish streak?! His love is probably the most divine, yet most human all at once! Beautifully said, Jzee...and that's a major reason that makes this story so unique too...very very rarely do we see a love that is so human...it's very much larger than life, divine as you said...from another realm of epicness and yet it is so piercingly human...it's got all the shades of grey you can imagine too...

Very very true! I also always got that sense as if he was this overarching figure standing in judgement over the entire family cuz he was always given some sort of prominence in the bg in literally every scene involving the family in the main hall and in Gulaal and Kesar's rooms as well...he is just always hovering in the bg...as if quietly watching this entire story, this entire journey, taking it all in...and yes, so true about how in a sense he watches over each "paap" or each truth coming to light...Dushyant revelation was a brilliant example.

In Gulaal's case I think it is a reverse case of 'sau sacrifice maaf hain' 🤣 sau ke baad saakshaat bhoot prakat to fix missy Galool 😆

Kesar being Kesuda ko sab maaf hai! 😆 LMAO@ these bits in bold...perfect🤣

Someone had to give her all the attitude back - and obviously Vasant was never going to manage that feat 😆 WORD! It's SO Karma! She was like a MEGA BRAT for so long...and honestly Vasant could never really TAME the brat either...she didn't mellow much even after she married him...Vasant was too much of a saint for that😆...Gulaal needed someone to give her all that attitude back as you said...see how it feels to be on the receiving end😛😆...and Kesar was the only one who gave as good as he got if not more...ESPECIALLY in her case😆...Kesar toh phir Kesar hi hai as we always say...no one could set her on edge like he could...and for good reason...you never know what's coming in his case😆

OMG, this latter bit was spectacular!
Exactly...the fact that he did it so coldly and deliberately despite being a subtle movement is what makes it all the more ominous and powerful...definitely to Gulaal...there's the danger that she can sense in him but still can't quite figure out.

👏 Totally! The details are all there in the subtleties...

another lovely shot - they aren't staring at each other, this is the most fleeting of eye-conversation-pieces - but they have one here too! Yeah it wasn't a proper stare or look but you can sense the glance they shared subtly...subtle but still meaningful and full of conversation in the silences as always.

Excellent observations as always.
Yes their silent glances always had 10X impact than dialogues, it could convey their most complex inner thoughts which mere words couldnt ever do and the most important part is both of them knew each other than themselves, but yet were unaware of the actual reason and their dilemmas were so conveyed through their subtle reactions. Even the looks that Kesar gave at Gulaal on the pooja were not of just anger, even that portrayed his multi layered characteristic.

^^^Even this one look echoed several questions at her, one can read so much from this, even regarding the pooja, and her seat...

and the further look Kesar gives at thalli, lightens the whole air a bit, It was like "yahan mere dil mein aag jal raha hein and how dare you laugh at me and thalli poor soul😆

Oh puh-leez spare me Vasant... his Jimmy avatar is 10 X more grating that his bhoot version in the ME, if that was even possible! And that Nirali girl with him *cringe cringe cringe* She could give Talli a run for her money - can you imagine?! 😲

But yeh I started doing stalk rounds of the forum, and IMV seems like a character to begin pursuing for kicks. Nothing to match up the overall Gulaal brilliance... the cinematography and the sheer bland actors surrounding the few leads, is epic fail. But I discovered I can't even hover around BALH/IPKKND/Navya/DABH blah blah forums without wanting to ram my head into virtual walls! So guess the combination I picked up?! MB is not the only show 😆 You're going to throw something from your side of the screen at me, when you find out the other show I'm watching 🤣 In my defense, everyone needs entertainment, and I can't afford to lose meri bachi khuchi sanity with the likes of forbidden no-no shows mentioned above 😆 Time passing my dear, time passing! The screen just became this impossible to shun part of my routine... ab aadat jaate time to lagega 😆
