Talli tells Kesar that if he doesn't marry her she will kill herself, he asks is she mad, if he marries her it will be betrayal because he cannot love her, by forcing him she cannot achieve anything, he tells her that this is impossible. She says that is exactly what she is asking, she doesn't have the panchayat's support neither can she insist on not eating so this is the only way for her to marry and achieve his love. She says she is asking him his own question, by forcing Gulaal how can he get her love, if by Talli's insistence he cannot marry, how could he think that Gulaal would love him by force, will Gulaal think of him as her husband from her heart by his insisting. She tells him to see his behavior from Gulaal's perspective, he will realize what injustice he has done to her. Kesar realizes and leaves, while Talli weeps. Kesar walks away and flashbacks to his lodging a complaint against Gulaal, her returning and cold words about his forcing her, his insistence on not eating, Reva and Talli's words.
Gulaal lights an oil lamp in front of Vasant's photo. Kesar enters, the light in the lamp flickers and Gulaal's puts her palms around it to keep it alive and the lamp doesn't go out (I think this is significant, Kesar is trying to bring his love into Gulaal's heart displacing some of Vasant's but Gulaal wants to keep Vasant's love alive). Their eyes meet and Gulaal sees him all wet in the rain. He tells her he wants to say something, it is important, not for him but for her, she tries to butt in but he insists saying that it is not about him or this relationship. He walks towards her and asks her to forget everything that he said about loving her and acknowledging that the deeyarvattu happened. Gulaal avoids discussing and asks him to change his clothes else his fever will increase turning her eyes away, and goes to the closet to remove a new set of clothes. Kesar comes in her way and holds her hand stopping her from avoiding.
He has tears in his eyes and tells her that she cannot avoid him today, she is unable to meet his eyes, he says he will have his say today, whatever she is doing to herself is a crime, she looks at him shocked, he says yes crime, she has stolen a woman's laughter from her lips, she is living by burning a woman's happiness, and that woman is nobody but Gulaal. Gulaal looks shocked. He continues that despite living with the family she wants to hold onto loneliness close to her heart, Gulaal blinks and refuses to discuss and goes to leave when Kesar blocks her way and again holds her arm stopping her insisting that she listen.
He continues that it is not a cause for happiness to become a widow, and neither is living the life of a widow that of pride, she is betraying herself, Gulaal asks him to leave her hand and jerks it away but Kesar holds on strongly and insists, he says he will not stop today, he raises his voice slightly and asks what does she think of herself, she should look inside herself once, that there is a woman inside, who has some desires and dreams, some needs, who's wishes she is destroying. Gulaal looks at him with her eyes wide open shocked, refusing to realize yet he is reaching deep down inside and making some sense that she continues to try and curb. He says that the woman must also feel like laughing, she must be craving for some support, but she has made herself a stone. Gulaal is unable to listen and turns away adjacent to Vasant's photo. Kesar says that if she became a widow what is her fault, had she left the world instead of Vasant would he have spent his entire life with her photo like this, she yells for him to stop else, he says else what, she doesn't need to threaten, he said what he had to say, he will say the rest the next day in the panchayat, and leaves. Gulaal looks completely shocked.
Poonam gives Revji his turban, he grumbles about Kesar and asks what new drama is he going to create in the panchayat. Everyone is at the panchayat. Dushyant asks Kesar why he convened the panchayat. Kesar looks at Gulaal and says he called the panchayat because he wants to break the deeyarvattu with Gulaal. Gulaal looks at him shocked, Kesar looks hurt as if he had no choice and he is doing this for her, Poonam is horrified, everyone else is shocked.
Poonam goes to him and yells how can he do this, the panchayat asks her to calm down and listen to Kesar's side first, Poonam continues crying that he cannot do this, Revji calms her. Kesar continues that even though late he realizes that he was wrong, he was wrong because he tried to cement a relationship through force, he looks at Gulaal and says that a relationship that is rooted in force and walls are made of helplessness can never survive. Kesar says all this looking at Gulaal as if nobody else is there and he is just talking to her. Talli and Dushyant are happy, Gulaal is surprised. Kesar says that he realizes that a husband wife relationship cannot be legal till both are in agreement, and here this relationship is being forced on Gulaal without her agreement. Gulaal looks at him still shocked, as if she doesn't know if she was really being forced. He continues that this is why he wants to break this deeyarvattu. Gulaal is still pondering.
Dushyant asks Gulaal if she is in agreement with Kesar's words, she is lost in thought and doesn't reply, Dushyant repeats his question, Gulaal says yes but her yes is hesitating as if she has to do this rather than in full agreement, Kesar looks at her hurt when she says yes. Gulaal continues that it is right that she will never be able to think of Kesar as her husband so its best that this deeyarvattu be broken, Kesar feels really hurt, Poonam is very upset and cries, Kesar wipes his tears. For Gulaal its more about her not being able to see Kesar as her husband rather than her loving him or associating an emotion with it. She makes the statement so logical like since I cannot do this so this should be the result.
The panchayat discusses and announces that the community holds on strongly to the ritual of deeyarvattu and they need to uphold and understand its importance, but Kesar and Gulaal have not understood its importance, some time back Gulaal wanted to break the deeyarvattu and called the panchayat, then Kesar called the panchayat to bring Gulaal back home, at this Gulaal glares at Kesar, Dushyant continues that again today both of them want to break the deeyarvattu in front of the panchayat. This is not only an insult of the panchayat but also of a critical ritual of deeyarvattu. If the panchayat obeys their request then deeyarvattu will become a common thing among married couples, marriages will start breaking off due to small matters, and it will not take long for the community to scatter. The panchayat has decided that this deeyarvattu cannot break in this matter. Gulaal is shocked. Kesar says but if both do not want to keep the relationship going, Dushyant holds up his hand to stop and continues that if both can convince the panchayat that their decision is unchangeable then this deeyarvattu can be broken. Kesar says but if both are saying, Dushyant again stops him saying that the panchayat can be convinced only if both stay together for 3 months. Everyone is shocked. Dushyant says Gulaal and Kesar will have to live together for 3 months, and if after that both want to break this deeyarvattu then panchayat will agree, in these 3 months both will have time to think about their decision, think about both, so later on they don't need to regret this decision. He tells both that they need to understand that this is not a small step, this one step will change both their and their families' lives forever. Kesar looks at Gulaal with tears in his eyes knowing that she will never agree, and she looks at him still the stone maiden.
The phone rings at Mota Bha's house, he picks it up seeing nobody around and is shocked to hear something. Everyone returns home and sees him in the living room. Kesar and Gulaal run to him and ask if he is okay, Gulaal asks what happened he looks worried, is he feeling well, he says so you both decided to break the deeyarvattu, Gulaal stands up taking a defensive stance. Jamna butts in and says after all Kesar had to give in to Gulaal's stubbornness. Kesar hears this and looks at Gulaal. Sudha asks if he had to do this drama why didn't he break the deeyarvattu before. Jamna continues that there is no respect for elders in this house, before taking such a big decision Kesar didn't even feel the need to consult the elders, without thinking or telling anyone he called the panchayat. Jamna and Sudha are so annoying, before a talk has the time to sink in both are ready to sink their claws in further, everything needs time to sink in, no wonder this family is so messed up, there is no open communication either. Its either Jamna and Sudha who over-communicate or the rest who under-communicate.
Dushyant says he agrees that it is wrong of Kesar to do this without telling anyone, but his decision to break the deeyarvattu is not wrong, for how long will both get crushed under this unwanted relationship. Raman responds that he is saying this as if they all forced Gulaal to do deeyarvattu with Kesar, Gulaal made this decision herself, neither did she ask them then nor now, she should have at least thought of Mota Bha. Hearing all this Mota Bha is feeling frustrated and leaves from there. Gulaal and Kesar try to stop him, he says stop and leaves. Kesar looks at Gulaal with tears, hurt and crying, so vulnerable at causing Mota Bha pain. Gulaal looks like she blames him or something - its so difficult to tell her expressions since her ice maiden stance.
Precap: Talli tells Kesar that whatever decision he took could not have been better, by freeing Gulaal he has opened the way to bring her back. Kesar looks shocked at hearing this, because he thinks he has lost Gulaal forever. He looks into Talli's eyes as if they have a ray of hope that he desperately needs.
Wow, so much went on in today's episode. I am so eager to see what will happen next.
