Chapter 7

Akshat was sitting on the sofa when his family was back home. They all sat together.

Aarti: kya bhai aap aaj office nai gaye (with a naughty smile).

Akshat: nai aaj office main zyada kaam nai tha

Angad: bhaiya please haan ab bahane mat banao

Akshat: ab main apne he office jaane k liye bahane banaunga

Nimisha comes from the kitchen.

Nimi: maa fridge main itna saara khana hai. Aap rakh k gaye thay.

Maa: nai to. Kya hai fridge main.

Nimi: bhindi, matar, paneer.

Maa: ye to sab lalla ki pasand ka hai. Guddan ne banaya hoga kal. Wo aayegi to pooch lenge.

Nimi: par ye to bilkul fresh lag raha hai jaise kisi ne khaya he nai. Khair di aayegi to pooch lenge.

Akshat heard this and thought she was waiting for him to have dinner and he outrightly refused and then she too didn't have her dinner. His thought process was broken by his mother.

Maa: aur lalla tu kyun chid raha hai aur inhe daant raha hai Ye to bas teri tang kheench rahe hain.

Akshat: kis baat pe maa. Kal se sab ko kuch na kuch ho rakha hai (frustrated)

Maa: ab kal teri pehli annive...

Before she could complete

Akshat: maa kya sabne kal se yahi ratt laga rakhi hai. Mujhe yaad nai tha ki kal meri anniversary thi.

Maa stood up from the sofa and aarti held her by the shoulders.

Aarti: maa relax aap baithiye. Bhai to mazak kar rahe hain.

Akshat: aaru main koi mazak nai kar raha. Na he mujhe yaad tha aur na guddan ko.

Everybody was shocked. His mother stood up.

Maa: bas kar. Kis baat ki akad hai tujh main- paise ki ya apne naam ki ya apni izzat ki.

Akshat: maa aap aise kyun bol rahi ho.

Maa: main meri bahu k khilaaf kuch nai sunugi. Samjha tu. Aur kisne kaha tujhe ki use yaad nai tha. Guddan ne kaha aisa. Nahi na, to bas phir.

Akshat: maa aap neeche baith jao aaram se.

Maa: mujhe kisi se koi baat nai krni. Meri bahu aayegi main tabhi neeche aaungi. Aur haan lalla use yaad tha kyunki usne mujhe khud bola tha. Ye jo tu bahu k saath kar raha haina bilkul galat hai. Tujhe lagta hai mujhe kuch nai dikhta. Sab samjhti hun main. Ye to guddan he pagal hai jo har baar mujhe rok deti hai tujhse baat karne k liye ye keh ki maa sab sahi hojayega. Aap tension mat lo.

Something pinched akshat in the heart when he heard she knew it.

Just then maa sees guddan from the door and ends the discussion so she doesn't hear anything and sits down.
