Also, I agree just the FL and ML can’t carry the whole show. Other characters matter too, but if the audience can’t connect with either lead, no side character can save it. Anupamaa works ‘cause of… well, Anupamaa. Take her out, and the show’s done. For any show to thrive, audiences must feel connected to at least one lead character. Without that connection, even the most compelling side characters with strong screen presence cannot compensate.

Either make the audience feel connected to the leads or give a strong storyline—simple. Look at Advocate Anjali show—the girl can’t act, her dialogues are cringe, and the rest of the cast ain’t winning any Oscars either. Production budget? On life support. Yet, it pulled used to pull more trp than Ghum leap (2.5). Why? 'Cause the story was actually strong.

Nd not to forget The success of Anupama undeniably revolves around anupama only. Shahi clearly understands this dynamic. Viewers primarily tune in for Anupama not for her daughter rahi or her lover prem the rest of the Kotaris are just background noise. He did tried pushing them, but the leads couldn’t pull trp. So now he’s back to what actually works—Anupama’s 200th new udaan. He always give more screen presence to anupama's character only. Kill her nd see if Anupama even work. Nobody gonna watch it for Rahi nd Wannabe kartik. I mean Prem.

i disagree with the anupamaa part. the main attractions of the show were vanraj and anuj that is why they could never keep vanraj out of the storyline and everything revolved back to the shah household. as soon as both of these characters were removed even anupamaa saw a decline. anupamaa even today is only working for its male characters thats why they introduced another character opposite anupamaa and even parag kothari is a viewer's attraction. as far as not killing anupamaa is concerned that is another ego massage that rupali ganguly gets.

also with concerns regarding trps every year the bar for trp keeps getting lower. in 2022 yrkkh and anupamaa got 3+ trps, now it is reduced to 2+. which means that every year the tv audience is reducing.

Ghum1 had reached top then from there around 3 years and if not of Satya shayad 1200 episodes tak le jaate constantly in top 5 from a new PH with not so big names and half time worked in covid....only Neil was popular once....

Can I write same for ghum 2, 3....it had legacy, Shakti type avg old actor aunties ka chahita , shows weren't at their prime like ma, rishta, bhagyas all lost their touch ...but if in around 1.5 years show get 2 big shots even after copying the concept of deal and vaade like Virat and yhm....toh in between few good weeks isn't appreciated....which actually even fell to 7th spot....when they tried their own....

Payment ka I don't know Neil was paid around 1.5 in the end....even other leads....

Serials and movies work in different fashion Khans, Akshay, Amitabh, Hrithik bring PPl to cinemas....but not actually bahus to tv....why I am saying this not an Anu aunty ka viewer but if Vanraj and Anuj wasn't there na show nhi chalta and they had a good story for establishing at top which they lost from years just legacy....same for ghum if not of Virat koi Sai ko nhi dekhta story too, whereas a cringe movie can get 100 crores because of just hype and stardom....

Say for example I changed the cast of this season and brought back 1st one....no one can argue kuch dino mein directly trp 2.5....but if I do the same with another show and Rupali ji toh nos nhi aayenge...Ayesha was famous because of ghum she got around 2 trp first week colors ka show whereas SP were struggling....then now in less than 50 ep 1.3...on the other hand TMD, UKA from same cockrow were at top....Neil's show completed 200+ ep with a decent 1.4-1.6 trp but he isn't bahu not show is that good....ykwim....

When the show started, it was about a middle-aged woman struggling after her husband cheated— not about the cheating husband’s life. Anuj’s character? He was supposed to be a cameo, but fans loved him with Anupamaa, so Shahi made them a couple. Simple. But at the core, it was still her story I'm not saying to Boost Rupali ganguli ego , she isn't my friend neither I like her. I mean, when Anupamaa got stabbed, people on Reddit and Instagram posted grandmas! were crying for upma. Did you see anyone crying like that over Anuj or Vanraj? Exactly.

After the leap, when Anuj "died," Shahi tried something new. He brought in the Khotaris and experimented with Rahi and Prem, hoping to recreate the magic of Naira and Kartik from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. But it flopped— leads flopped hard. Shahi realized the show still needed a strong family around Anupamaa to give kalesh, even if they faded into the background eventually.

Shahi has introduced over 150 new characters in Anupamaa, all just to keep Anupamaa in the spotlight. Even with the Khotaris, Anupamaa still takes up most of the screen time. After her, the only other character who gets some attention is Moti Baa, because they need to show the usual Anupamaa vs. Moti Baa drama and, of course, Anupamaa’s endless lectures.

The actual leads— nd Parag and the other Khotaris—are barely getting any importance. When the Khotaris first entered, Parag’s character had some focus, but now his screen time is shrinking fast. It’s the same pattern we saw with Manish Goenka in rishta—starting strong but fading into the background. And, the Khotaris are heading in the same direction.

And the drop in trp isn’t because Anuj or Vanraj left. It’s because the show has been dragged on for too long. Every ITV show is struggling because of stretched plots. Rishta should have ended ages ago. Ghum should have wrapped up with its original cast Ghum 1, Anupama should have ended too. People are just tired of watching the same recycled tropes— contract marriages, marriages of convenience, traingle plots— it’s all getting repetitive.

Watched today's episode, it was good and fast paced (but didn't look rushed) it was a purely tejneil episode and we saw the the tejneil banter which was there in the initial episodes. The chavans are really getting on my nerves of how they're treating vedant for such a piece of sweet. I'm glad that they have not turned aditi comical instead she is the only person with some mind in the entire household. Neil looked tooooo cute today (I'm biased for neil).

I thought teju will hurt neil unnecessary but she has her valid point to reject neil
