Hey guys,

My first post here and probably not going to be many more. I am not a fan of the show because I have never watched much of it but I know the storyline. Recently watched an episode or two and can't help wonder if itv shows were always this messed up. I stopped watching serials a few years ago. Maybe it's the time but the show looks so messed up. The leads characters are themselves so confused. Virat who himself was married to someone else and had his kids around her has a problem with Sai letting her kids around her husband. He is so selfish and rude. Sai has every right to live a happy life without him but the man behaves like she cheated on him. This doesn't seem like jealousy due to love. This is pure spite. Not to mention the family that seems to change sides faster than a chameleon. Ek din Sai buri hai doori din devi.

Sai herself seems no better. If she is still stuck on Virat now that pakhi is gone she should just go back to him. Instead she is doing exactly what he did. She has got Satya involved in her mess. Why can't itv show a woman moving on? After everything unfair that Virat and his family why should she still have feelings for him? People do move on in life. Why can't they show Sai falling for a genuine man and Sai Virat as cordial co parents. What kind of message does this show send?

All itv shows did have seperation tracks and multiple shaadis. But are they getting worse? Or is it just me?

Haww so cruel you're to not see Savi ki happy family or you're too blinded by the hate for the namesake ML that's why you're against SaiRat ka reunion you don't know full story. SaiRat should reunite for the good times they had sadiyon purani forgetting the amount of toxicity DCP & his family hurled on Sai so what people shouldn't make a fuss out of whatever criminal DCP had with his jeeva ki widow. Shirf anniversary aur honeymoon hee toh manaya sexy dance kiya, tried making Savi forget her real mom & replace her with his Pakhi, shared same bed blanket, fed her so cutely, had multiple intimate moments, closed the doors on Sai's face insulted her at doorstep after Sai went to save his wife's life twice, hid Vinu's truth, established her place strongly in Vinu's life as his mom, she's yashoda & devki of Vinu, Sai is nothing for Vinu, threw Sai in the jail & etc.

Yeh sab itni trivial cheeze hai over Sai 20 feet away Rat (social distance) chemistry (non-existent) & their eternal (toxic) love 😘

I don't know whether its because now I am much older and have more critical views of the show, stories and characters but I do think the current female characters are even weaker than ekta periode. I have to clarify that I have never been a religious viewer of any show, but at least with ekta show the female charatcers used to take bolder steps. Male characters were humbled down once in a while. They were whitewashed but only after they have paid of their deeds....and usually it came with some changes in the relationship's dynamics.

Like here even Virat's misery has the sense of entitlement and smugness. He has norealization of what he has done or how much misery he has caused. Its all about what he has lost or even worse others have taken from him. 🤢

For a minute I thought you were serious. The couple might have a great chemistry but they have taken the ML character beyond redemption. And it looks like they want to do the same with FL. I am surprised the show has high trps. Do people actually like this? I think it is unfair to people who would have loved the lead pair.

You know how it’s 21st century and people realised that the good old Bahu formula is not going to work ? Because people will revolt. But, regressive thinking is very much alive. So ITVs solution is to give a working FL and an abusive a**hole ML so the saas bahu drama is hidden. Everyone’s too focused on their love story that no one sees the systemic damage that has been made to social progress.

The most ridiculous stuff I've read in this forum is one can't be lead as due to being lowly background or illegitimate child. It's not just displays mentality but I wonder did even watch anything else till date. In recent times itself Avni from Naamkaran & Atharv Sujata from JNNDSD is the prime example. Then again this forum states Ayesha's the best actress they've ever seen. Everytime I see twitter brutally trolling them & when I come to the forum I see them getting praise for the same I'm like they need to get outside Ghum verse for once! 😭

@looseseal the EDT got locked. I wrote so much to reply to you about the misogyny, NBs unprofessionalism, ASB being professional in the aspect with Yogi, nja1 account covered everything yesterday. The BS is spoken on a daily basis about him getting hate for marrying the antagonist, not giving BTs, promotions or reel. When everyone knows why he's called unprofessional. It's not bashing or hate. 99% of those who were neutral towards NB turned against him, there must be a reason people aren't fools. I can cite scenes by scenes to draw parallels. Check his inhibitions in the dance with Sai in Shruti track to the anniversary dance or the proximity when he holds Sai with arms to Pakhi on-screen. ATP it's blind defence know the truth deep down. I was about to reply to that other account too but thread got locked & wanted to add more but you replied to the bhabhi lover part nicely. The hateful vibes towards HA is evident as it's out if inferiority complex. Khudke favorite ki unprofessionalism aur ubhar ke bahar aa raha hai ever since HA joined. It's same as when they went hateful towards ASB that she's making Pakhi look lustful towards Vinu & they're talking about hating their professional ML unfairly. First look at yourself.

NK/ AvNeil Fan? ❤️ That show was criminally underrated actually. SP overlooked the show so much. But I don't get this nonsense saying lead can't be of lowly background. Do those people even watch itv, because in almost every other show the female lead is ridiculed and humiliated just for being middle-class.🤣 And fab shows like naamkarann have touched upon the lead facing abandonment issues etc due to being an illegitimate child.

Its one thing to defend your favorite. Its another to fabricate disgusting stories about others. When we criticize a character its always based on the show and what the charatcer has actrually said (can't base it acting or story because nor the story has head or tail in this show or is the acting nuanced enough to be worthy of analysis).

You can't ignore whats is literally happening on the screen just because you want to see the female charatcer and her daughter be molested and suffer without the hero and come crying back to him .... that is a step too low. Beyond being regressive.

As far as off screen dynamics are concerned I dont care. Even if the actors were unprofesional ph/ directors/ channels should have made them do their job properly. There are plenty of actors in india and none of the leads are that supremely talented not do they have crazy fan following that they can't be replaced....

Again this is not insult to the actors. they are just fine. Not bad that they need to fired but nor are they that talented that ph/director/dan have to keep up with all their nakhras

I won't say they are getting worse. In fact I feel like ITV is improving in this scenario...it is just that the improvement is really really really slow. A snail would look like a Ferrari in front of this.

Ghum is an exception even now. It is way too dramatic and way too toxic. I am fairly certain it is even quite famous for it's excessive drama. However, when we look at other serials, it is quite obvious that serial makers don't necessary believe in the forever shipping of the main leads. Moreover, they do keep the public's demands in mind while writing the story.

As for drama, ITV serials have always been dramatic. It has always been up to the FL to save everyone's asses even after getting her own kicked by the very same people. So, Ghum or any other show is not that different.

But you are also right. Ghum's tracks do feel worse than others, even though they actually aren't. And the reason for that is

1. Ghum's reluctance to show the villain as the villain. Pakhi was obviously meant to be the villain of the show (like Roopkotha), but for some reasons unknown (or perfectly known to majority) the makers of the show refused to show Pakhi as a bad character. They always went with the term gray. This created a feeling of frustration. Earlier shows were very fixated on making sure the public knows who the villain is. So much that it was ridiculous. They made sure there is no way that the public can ever sympathize or side with the villain. This felt very satisfying as a viewer, cause we had a character we can blatantly hate, a character on which we can take all our frustration out. Ghum had no such character, and thus it all felt very suffocating.

2. Ghum had a very realistic feel to it. I am not talking about recent episodes, but earlier episodes, the one that got most of us hooked on this show, had a very realistic tinge to them. Other ITV serials were a lot OTT, so much that at every point we knew that this is just a show, and there is no way that something like this could ever happen in real life. And that brought a sense of freedom and relief. Who cares if the female lead is always getting scolded? Who cares if the vamp secretly poisoned someone? It isn't as if someone in real life is getting hurt. But Ghum was not like that. Even till the very end, while still slightly ridiculous and unbelievable, Ghum's characters and tracks were very realistic. This created another level of intimacy between the viewers and the characters. And thus making everything feel all that much impactful.

So, basically, my answer would be that Ghum is not worse than previous ITV serials. It is just that the way the story is being shown makes it feel much more toxic.
