I don’t know if this has been done before as I’m relatively new to this show and this forum .. I wanted to analyse the timeline Acc to the show so the current track can be put in some perspective ..

So when the show started Sai had just finished her class 12th and topped the board and Virat was a new recruit IPS and Pakhi’s age was mentioned by her father so :

Sai : 17/18

Virat : 26/27

Pakhi : 26 years (as her father had mentioned)

As the story progressed we saw marriage , Sai passing medicine etc and then joining internship which usually takes 5 years. So by this their ages would be :

Sai : 23

Virat : 33

Pakhi: 32

Then the pregnancy track was played, Sai’s miscarriage, Pakhi’s pregnancy etc so add another year to all this.

Sai : 24

Virat : 34

Pakhi: 33

Then Sai left with 15 day old Vinu, and she was already pregnant when she left .. here we can draw two assumptions as after the leap they just said a few years later without mentioning a number … looking at two scenarios :

Scenario 1;

assuming the show took a 5-7 year old leap:

Sai : 29-31

Virat : 39-41

Pakhi : 33-40

In this case Sai and Virat’s marriage is still valid, so the makers can easily bring up the angle where they declare his marriage with Pakhi invalid- and the story goes on from there ..

However in scenario 2 : where the time period is more than 7 years

Sai and Virat’s marriage is no longer valid as Sai was presumed to be dead for more than 7 years Virat has been calling Sai his ex wife , he will have to divorce Pakhi and then move on with Sai ..

What do you think will happen ? Which one would be the correct scenario considering makers have never committed to an timeline or number ?

This is just a fun post , open for discussion and speculation. Kindly share your views pls !

Acc to the Indian Law “According to Section 13(1)(vii), a marriage may be dissolved by a decree of divorce on the ground that either spouse has not been heard alive for a period more than seven years by those who would have normally heard of him. One must wonder then whether seven years was an appropriate period of absence to presume a person to be dead. The answer to that has been explained by various authorities as to when this law was first formalized because the means of communication were rudimentary then, as compared to today[8]. The burden of proof, as discussed earlier lies on the person affirming it.”

Exactly, the marriage isn't void. It still needs a decree of divorce. Virat and Sai can get a divorce in the sense, that now any one of them can divorce the other without needing their consent. You know, like, how usually both spouses divorce on mutual consent, but here any one of them can divorce the other without needing the consent of the other.

But nothing is automatic in Indian Law. Virat still has to divorce Sai. Their marriage isn't void because of this.

The only void marriage here is Virat and Pakhi because Virat and Sai are still married and according to hindu laws of marriage, any marriage that takes place prior to the dissolution of the first is null and void. There is no need for divorce or annulment. The marriage didn't even take place as far as the law is concerned.

So, Sai is Virat's wife, and his marriage to Pakhi is void regardless of how much time has passed.

When V P got married it was less than 7 years since Sai was presumed dead. So they would have to get married after 7 years. Next time when they took phere they knew Sai being alive. So either of VP marriages are illegal or void

Sai was definitely 18 when Sairat got married because they can't show an IPS officer marrying a minor. I think Virat and Pakhi are now in their 40s and Sai in 30s.

With regards to whose marriage is valid and void this show never focused on the law aspect. Instead it focused on what the mind and heart of the 3 individuals has accepted.

Sai left the house with Vinu. She didn't remove her mangalsutra then. When Virat was searching for Sai in the accident site he was asking everyone if they have seen his wife.

Then the leap happened and during these years Sai had mentally accepted she's not Virat's wife anymore. After Virat met Sai he kept on stressing on the fact that Pakhi is his wife and not Sai. Even though Virat and Sai are officially not divorced but mentally they have accepted their marriage is over that's why the writers are not showing the legal aspect. They had got a good opportunity to show the legal aspect when Sai filed the custody case but they didn't. It's only us fans who still believe Sairat are still married to each other but as per the show's storyline they are not.

What prompted you to watch this show now???

It is ridiculous and stupid to say the least.... None of the characters behave the way, they were Initially portrayed...

The family is toxic and has major behavioral issues and unhealthy obsession for affairs in almost all generation....

i totally forgot about the fact that they got married a few years later, so that still makes SV marriage valid in the eyes of law even now

Your reply is filled with such innocence it broke my heart. Don't hold to any thread, my dear...the makers are a sadistic bunch💔

I actually don't mind with Sai being his ex wife because that'd mean they'll show them having to get married once again which is good their kids would witness it.. and so far they've not had a marriage where it happened with good vibes or happiness in remarriage Sai wasn't happy. This time it should happen without any shackles anything. Also, Virat has given wife status to Pakhi everywhere so it's ok if Sai's ex wife.
