Sai Joshi is truly a beautiful character.
I think today's performance by Ayesha is VERY special
Today was the Sai Joshi special.
Honestly the dialogues written for her standup act arent like amazing but her delivery is so sharp and on-point. She is nailing it because we know as audience that she is essentially talking about her own life, her pain but she cant cry and say the reality, and she has to make it funny so she is doing so. But the way she chokes up, eyes welled up but smiles and drops punchlines - its amazing. And actually the dialogues not being too amazing makes it genuinely come across as an impromptu act as they are portraying in the scene.
She had some jewels in there- about how the current wife is wearing 3D glasses of shak but she doesnt realize that how can there be love now between a couple when they couldnt have love when they were actually together.
The wasy she refers to V as Mr Oops - its SO snarky and true. He literally does that. Anything he is accused of, he makes himself mr bechaara, mr self-pity, mr I'm so innocent, everyone takes me for a ride when the reality is the stark opposite.
I love how she talks about her azaadi from the shackles of marriage. She cant talk about the harrasment so she humorizes her struggles as just being chik-chik and too many questions asked of her- but Sai and us the viewers know that it was much much more.
Ayesha has carried the entire episode beautifully on her shoulders. She can probably even try standup in future. She definitely has a stage presence. she is a writer. She is funny and quirky in her real life so I can definitely see her shine if she were to give standup a go!
Her recent IVs show that she can drop one-liners too. Like I remember in the "this or that" segment someone asked her would you rather no one come ti your wedding or funeral and she immediately says- what do you mean no-one in wedding- dulha toh aaayega na! So spontaneous ! It was lovely.
Ayesha Singh- I love you more everyday!
Good luck, godspeed to you. Wish you more power, success, fame, health and wealth but that you stay as rooted and real as you are now.
