So, I was sitting with women in my family and I asked them if they have solved problems like ITV female leads, we had a long chat about the issue

After that I came to my room and I thought what all has my Bhabhi done for me? I love her like I love my brother then I realized why all relationships made by Sai or any other FLs are flimsy in nature

I am not sure if makers do it deliberately but if you notice bonds made by all FLs are on the basis of what they have done for that person, there's no real bond in Sai's life that's why they turn against her the moment she doesn't do what they want her to do

When relationships are based on her giving and only giving to this family, the family starts to take her for granted

You see the different treatment of two characters by this family

1) Pakhi - Pakhi has been her worst in CN, She has never been kind to anyone in the family but when she was sent to jail for a crime committed against their other DIL, they couldn't live without her for a day, they wanted her back in the house

2) Sai - We can make a long list of things she has done for everyone in the family but when she was leaving, Bhavani said she can leave if she wants to but she can't take their Chirag away from them

When I see this, I feel makers are doing a disservice to women because you keep showing her as this giving person all the time, you show that a woman can be doctor but even as a doctor she has to treat everything, she is a single mother who spends a lot of her time pushing her daughter around in their cycle, you show that she gets enough time to be a teacher and then enough to be a leader of the village

I am glad men don't watch ITV because I can barely get my as$ out of my bed in the morning to go to work and I am so tired when I come back that I don't even feel like cooking or doing anything else

I don't have such expectations from people in my family as well, I don't expect them to be good at everything

Why are ITV FLs shown as these Goddess who can do everything but still none loves them?

Life of an ITV FL -

1) Difficulty in her house

2) Get married and husband is not good

3) Family member's day job is to torture her

4) She wins heart by doing everything she can do for these good for nothing people and they turn against her the moment she is less than perfect in their eyes

5) Falls for husband and has to tolerate husband's girlfriends

6) Husband and wife consummate, she gets pregnant followed by a miscarriage

7) She gives birth to her child alone, away from family and husband sometimes can't make ends meet as she doesn't have a job

8) Husband and wife meet and the leap separation continues for 20 years

9) She dies a tragic death in an accident with her husband and her daughter is new lead

The only way they have a happy ending is when TRP audience decides that they don't want to watch the show

Perfectly said. Very good post. ❤️

All ITV FLs are golden-hearted who do good to people who are mean to them and also forgive them. I mean, who in real life can be like that? Sai is much better than other FLs but she is still too unnaturally white to be relatable.

Brilliant point about FLs being worth only as do-gooders to other characters - and therefore dispensable. Any real relationship is based on mutual respect & concern. If you keep doing things for others you will only end up being frustrated & resentful.

I can understand the regressive setup of ITV - it is close to what most Indian women live in. But why all ITV FLs are made mahaan, almost without exception is beyond me. She can be a realistically good person right? I agree it is a disservice to women - propagating an expectation that women should be goddesses - which is a narrative already being used in society to curb the natural, human aspects of a woman.

Another common trope found in ITV is the revered matriarch/mother/MIL figure. She is allowed to do any nonsense, even crimes, be a pretentitious, selfish mother to her children, harass her DIL and yet she will be hailed as a mamta ki moorthi. Maybe it's done to stoke the ego of real life MILs who may be watching the show - they are TRP customers after all. Maybe it reflects such hypocrisy & insincerity that is the foundation of Indian society.

This is perfect! This is just life of any and every itv bahu and not just recent. It has been since like 20 years now. Extremely well put

You have put this so well ..

itv Fl are put through unrealistic goals

And they become a barometer .. where audience starts judging the people around each other

They could have shown Sai practicing in a Govt hospital in a district with her fantastic scores it was nothing unexpected..

But they have to show her like a neem hakeem making outments plus doing delivery like a midwife . Plus also teaching village ladies and chugging around in a cycle . thankfully she has a nice home and dressed well with her kid

I agree with this.

Sai got popular because she wasn’t this mahaan in initial months of marriage. Eventhough Virat married her she never lost her perspective. It was post ousting that she started to degrade n I was shocked that after Kaku n mandali’s crimes came out she went for mata kumata nahi ho sakti nonsense.

Unfortunately with every track there is enough buildup to see return of old Sai but since Shruti track she is worst than others.

She literally regressed from strong independent to submissive abuse endearing bahu.

The leap is successful so far because they have shown Sai taking stand finally and leaving that hell whole n is now independent. If they go Shruti track route, n she blames herself n begs for forgiveness then no hopes she will be worst than other FLs.
