The way Virat’s character has been presented by the writers, average viewers will have to understand him as either ek number ka Idiot who has no brains(dont ask how he became IPS) or itna shaathir dimaag ka chaalaak insaan who is a first class manipulator . It is one of the two , there is no in between. The flaw is in the writing. Maybe they intended to make him a grey character but due to their really bad writing, ye nateeja hua. No wonder there is always Virat vs Sai fights on Twitter
They had the opportunity but they blew it. Its now next to impossible to tie his greyness back to the story. Thats why as a viewer- Even though I understand all this, I still want Sai to walk out of his life with her head held high. Thats how bad they have slaughtered Virat and Ghum . Thank god Sai is still not that badly damaged. But fingers crossed! U never know what these writers can do
It is really sad at the way they have butchered Virats character. He could have very well addressed Sruthi as Bhabhi and helped her. I don't know what is stopping him from using the word Vahini for Pakhi and Sruthi. This hesitation only gives ideas to the other two ladies and as you said Virat doing so much for his friend with whom he had no contact for many years and who is also an outlaw is ridiculous.
Virat is mixing emotions with his profession which is entirely wrong and he is not fit to be an IPS officer. An IPS officer cannot be so emotional.
I am wondering how will they show confession now. What will make Sai to confess after all this?
In my opinion, what Virat is having with Shruthi as of now is not an emotional affair.
I agree that emotional affair can be unintentional - you need not intend to cheat your spouse, need not intend to have an emotional affair with someone, need to even be aware that you're crossing the line. But there is certainly a conscious/sub-conscious emotional motivation behind seeking someone other than the spouse. The motivation may be either some sort of validation, emotional fulfillment, companionship or emotional support. In this particular track - none of these checks Virat's motivations. Whether one agrees with him or not - he is acting out of his guilt and not that he is seeking her for anything else.
His relationship with Pakhi - that's a whole new debate, so I'll stick with Shruthi for now.
There are issues in his behaviour with Shruthi - namely posing himself as her husband, and acting too familiar with her (not addressing her as he should and holding her hand etc). For the first, they have given some unconvincing explanation of hiding her identity. For the second, the kind of impression that Virat gives to the audience may be totally unintentional - in that case, all I can say is that anyone who is responsible for this kind of creativity needs to be fired (just a figure of speech, not meant literally).
I've cribbed and ranted using these details long enough - and realised that it has no meaning in ghum. The makers have absolutely zero sense or care about how the execution of certain scenes creates an impression about a character - it doesn't matter what vision they have in their mind.
I myself do not think he is having an emotional affair with Shruthi - because I choose to set aside their stupid ass writing and creativity. I'm going purely by Virat's motivations.
Him calling shruti his bhabi infront of sada and calling her as shruti and specially tum will definitely make his character and his intentions questionable. I was actually surprised how easily he is calling her tum as if he knows her from long time. Isn't she stranger to him and elder to him in relationship (friend wife= bhabi he himself addressed) suddenly bhabi turned into shruti, tum as soon as he saw her. What writers wanna prove by making him flip from bhabi to shruti. What is the need to give him bhabi dialogue at first place if they want to show him calling her bhabi. And him holding her hands for no reason is annoying. Another thing is he was about to sit next to her in hospital when she was sleeping until nurse asked him to go out. What was he planning to do by sitting their in that room? Okay he feels shruti and her baby need him so he wants to be available to them but can't he do it by staying outside the room that too when she is sleeping. Shouldn't he sit outside the room as a gentleman. He literally has zero limit conscious. This makes me wonder his behaviour with pakhi also not because he loved her once it's because he behaves with every woman like this. And pakhi tho gives him enough attention that's why he acted like that not because of first love feelings.Originally posted by: nethraa_99

Therefore clearly a disconnect between how they perceive certain actions and how the audience perceive it. The infamous harassment issue at the hospital after he was shot. He actually justified it saying I don't know how it came across on screen but it just showed Pakhi's concern and can't be called harassment. There was an uproar in SM. And it waa pointed out that Virat's dialogue at that time and what it meant to us.

I'm pretty sure that two different people write Sai and Virat. Sai's characterization never suffers from such inconsistencies or ludicrousness. What was the need to bring this creativity if it was not in the original? If the idea is to show Virat as being overly emotional - then I don't know whether to laugh or cry at their idiocy. Not just in this track - since ousting episodes, Virat is repeatedly given ridiculous dialogues too.
Virat's behaviour with Pakhi certainly raises eyebrows - and writers have only themselves to blame. Audience cannot be blamed for either assuming that Virat was having an emotional affair with Pakhi (albeit unintentionally) or choosing to ignore those transgressions as creative liberty - he has been made totally open to interpretation and the writers/creatives have only themselves to blame.

Exactly my point.
That was harassment whether the actors agree or not. Can't say sexual harrasment but it was mental harassment. Going behind the man despite him saying I don't love you is harassment. Here the problem is virat behaviour with woman. How casually he crosses his limits with other woman be it pakhi or shruti. What actors or director thinking before enacting script is beyond understanding. Till now I was thinking his behaviour(crossing limits) with pakhi is because of the past they shared. But after seeing his behaviour with shruti. I am confused. How can he be so causual with the woman whom he hardly knows.Originally posted by: scarlett22

The narrative that virat being overly emotional also won't suit here. You know a douchebag like rono addressed shruti as only aap and always maintained physical boundaries with her. What ghum writers want to prove by adding creative scenes for virat shruti. Same with virat pakhi, rono never crossed his physical boundaries with rk. Here they showed virat casually holding pakhi hand just to stop her from revealing birthday surprise to sai. I mean how the hell a morally right man can be like that .Originally posted by: nethraa_99

And had the nurse didn't came virat would have sit beside shruti the whole day when she was sleeping. What was the need to stay in hospital room. Can't he sit outside the room that too when she is sleeping. Then what is the difference between his treatment towards his wife, friend's wife and brother's wife. All women are same for him ?
