Sorry for the late update but as I said in the other story I was on a trip. I couldn't write during that trip nor the following week. But here it is. The chapter is about the coffee date and a few khulasa.
I really hope you will like Neil's reaction.

The main story will start from next or in two chapters, the part I love the most and the reason why I started to write this story.

« Everyone knows how generous my parents are. They always gave away without securing their future. That’s why I have an obligation to take care of them financially too. One part of my salary will go to them and I need a partner who will understand that and will accept it. », Saira started with her list of questions.
« Of course we will both contribute to our own household, the one we will make if we get married but the rest of the money you can use the way you want. I have no problem if you decide to give to your parents, save it or spend on your own. My parents don’t need me but even I have a few obligations towards them so I totally understand you. », he replied.

Neil has witnessed Saira getting worried many a time about her parents. He knew how her parents didn’t care about their future but always put their families back home before anything. Being a Muslim her father refused to buy a house taking a mortgage. They didn’t also save much as they distributed to the needy family members and strangers. Neil saw Saira being worried and they had many conversations on that. He liked the fact that the guy was genuinely fine with that. She needed an understanding partner.

« I am an introvert when it comes to meet with the Indian community. I don’t like desi parties. I don’t want to be forced to attend them to please people. I need my freedom. I want to live my life on my own terms. », she continued.
« Noted. I am not a party person either but I am a family person. I love the family gatherings. I hope that’s fine with you ? », he replied.
« Depends. If it’s not too imposing then I don’t mind it. You can also ask me if you have any question. », she said.
« Do you have any past that I should know ? I know it’s not easy to share in the first meeting that too being an Indian so I will start to make it easy for you. I dated a Moroccan girl when I was in college but our families didn’t agree as we were from different origins. We didn’t fight for our love which made us realize that we weren’t probably that much in love to sacrifice our everything to be together. », he confessed.

Neil commented « Interesting ! » while Naira rolled her eyes. She couldn’t understand his enthusiasm about Saira meeting that Samir Nasser. In the past even Neil’s girlfriends didn’t bother Saira. She wanted these two idiots to feel jealous with each other’s partners but nada.

« I appreciate your sincerity. I did not have any serious relationship. I was interested in a guy during my high school and later in a colleague but nothing came out seriously. », she told him.
« Good to know. », he replied with a smile.
« I have a few male friends. One of them is even my best friend. In fact we are three best friends. Me, Naira and Neil. We are inseparable and they mean a lot to me. A guy friend brings a lot of questions in people’s mind but I can’t imagine my life without him nor change my way of being with him. We are pretty close. I want a partner who would understand the kind of relationship we share without judging us. It’s only friendship nothing more. I really want you to think about it because I can’t take a jealous partner who would want to control me. », she wanted to clear the things before continuing.

Samir was impressed by her frankness. He always wanted a wife who would be bold enough to go against the norms. He had heard so much about her that he wasn’t surprised by her words. He was also relieved because his situation was the same as her.
From his hiding place, Neil smiled sipping his coffee. He was too happy to see Saira showing his importance to the person who was probably going to be the most important person of her life. He wanted to hug her but as she wasn’t available, he leaned forward and hugged Naira instead.

« Sorry, I needed to hug her for whatever she just said but she is too far away. », he explained to Naira.
« Why don’t you simply tell her then ? », Naira rolled her eyes.
« Tell her what ? », he asked trying to be an ignorant.
« I give up. », she sighed.

Neil smiled.

« Thank God, I didn’t know how to share it. My childhood best friend is a girl and we are pretty close. I need a person who can understand our friendship. I think as we are both in the same situation, we will handle the things better. It will be easier for us to trust each other. », he explained.
« That’s awesome. It’s easier to understand someone who lives the same life. », she said.
« Neil, right ? French ? », he asked curious.
« Indian. Christian. Naira is Algerian and Muslim like us. What’s your best friend’s name ? », she asked for the sake of conversation.
« Nassiha. Pakistani Muslim. », he replied. « What are your hobbies ? », he added.
« Traveling and writing. What about you ? », she asked.
« Playing guitar and reading. I am an avid reader. », he said.

Neil and Naira burst out laughing. He didn’t miss commenting « Wonderful ! She will write and he will read. Perfect. »

« Woow musician ! Interesting ! Now that we are talking about hobbies and passion, as I love traveling I want a partner that agrees to go on a trip with me twice a year. I will be traveling with my friends too. I won't have a problem either if my partner decides to go on a trip with his friends. », she confessed.
« Twice ? Not more not less ? », he joked. « I agree that we sometimes need a break with friends so I am fine with it. », he added.
« Less only if there is valid reason. More I don’t mind. », she smiled. « Oh haan, also as the entire community knows, my father is an awesome cook. He spoiled me and my mom so I can’t imagine having a man that can’t cook and can’t surprise me every other day. I hope you can cook ? », she asked.
« Not as good as your dad and I don’t often cook because that’s not something I like but I can cook and don’t mind cooking. », he replied with honesty.

« Ouch ! », Naira said knowing how important that part is in Saira’s life.

« My father is an impatient man. He is always in a rush. I have spent half of my life being stressed because of him. I can’t spend the other half with the same kind of man. I want a man that will walk side by side not someone who will walk without turning back and seeing if I am there. I am not a typical woman who spends hours on getting ready but if I take extra five minutes, I don’t want someone to ask me to hurry up. I know it sounds silly but believe me, there isn’t a day we have left the house without a fight because my dad is too punctual. », she said.

Neil spilled out his coffee as he couldn’t control his chuckle. Was she trying to scare him away ? She was weirdly cute.

« I am a lazy person. I will come on time but not before time. About walking side by side, what’s the point to have a beautiful wife when I can’t even walk shoulder to shoulder and enjoy the moment. », he replied.
« Hmmm ! », she lowered her eyes.
« My family is broadminded compared to many Indian families. If we have a future together they will accept you as a daughter and I want you to take them as your own family not just as your in-laws. I am a very family person. If there is something you don’t like or don’t agree with, I want you to tell me instead of keeping things to yourself as silence brings bitterness and misunderstandings in relationships. I will talk to them and make them understand your point of view or else I will try to find a middle ground. », he said.

Saira liked his way of thinking and tried to read his face to know if he was honest for faking it. She always wanted to enter a family that would accept her the way she was and a supportive partner.
They shared a few more things about the kind of partner they were looking for and also shared the kind of people they were. After they were comfortable with each other she threw the awaited bomb at him. She had to to carry on further.

« How many kids do you want ? », she asked.
« Never thought about it. I am happy with whatever Allah has planned for me. », he replied.
« If you aren’t blessed with kids, what will you do ? Stay childless, adopt or get married to someone else. I am asking this because I have seen a few cases like this where the man gets married to someone else or leaves the first wife. », she asked.
« That’s a deep thought. », he was taken aback.
« I know but if I am saying it it’s because… », she took a deep breath and then continued, « My family members have difficulties to conceive. Two of my maternal aunts are childless and my mom herself had me after six years of marriage and two miscarriages. Some of my paternal cousins conceived after years of marriage. Most of them have only one child or twins at once. I can’t guaranty you that I can carry a child even though according to my medical reports there is no issue. But I have to share it with you so that you can think about it. It’s a huge decision to take. », she confessed.
« I understand your worries and I appreciate your honesty. I believe everything happens for a reason. If I can’t become a father I will take it as my fate. I don’t know if I will adopt a child it will depend on that moment but I know that I am not going to leave my wife or betray her. », he replied.
« Still I want you to think about it. », she said.
« I will. », he replied.
« Ok I think that's enough for today. We have shared a lot about each other. Now let's think about it and decide what to do next. », she suggested.
« Yeah let's do that. », he signed the waiter to bring the bill. « It was nice meeting you. », he added.
« Same here. », she replied. « By the way it's on me. », she added taking out her credit card.
« Excuse me ? », he asked puzzled.
« That's also something you should know about me. I like to pay the bill rather than getting paid. Believe me Neil was also amused the first time I insisted on paying our first breakfast. », she explained.
« That's indeed amusing. », he smiled. « But I feel awkward. », he added.
« If there is a next time, I will let you pay. », she promised.

Neil smiled remembering their first trip. The first time she blew his mind when she insisted on paying. Samir liked her honesty, pride and the independent girl she was.
They bid each other goodbye and left the place. Soon after Neil and Naira also left. Walking with arms intertwined, Neil broke the silence.

« Did you know about it ? », he asked without precising the topic he was talking about.
« Yup. A few years ago her mom insisted for a full check-up. The reports came out normal and there was nothing to worry. I don’t know why she brought that topic again. », she replied knowing exactly what he was asking.
« I understand her. She is afraid. She wants things to start with honesty. It’s better if the guy decides to leave her now than later. », he replied.

Neil called Saira when she was already half way back home and asked her to take an u-turn and join them at the café that was not too far from where she had her coffee date. It didn’t take Neil too much efforts to convince her and she showed up half an hour later. While ordering their drinks, Neil remarked that two cups of coffee won’t do good to him. If one could make him jump like a monkey then two will turn him into a spiderman. Saira frowned unable to understand anything.

« So how was your date ? Did you scare him away already? », he asked.
« It wasn't a date. », Saira corrected him.
« It was. An arranged one but still a date. », he explained. « So how did you like your Mr. Avid Reader? Will you give him a second chance ? », he asked.
« Wait how do you know that ? », she looked at both her friends.
« Because we were there, duh. », Naira rolled her eyes.
« Why would you do something like this ? », Saira asked.
« We wanted to judge the guy by ourselves. We can’t give you away to the wrong guy, someone who doesn’t deserve you. », he replied.
« So what’s your verdict ? », Saira asked.
« A nice guy. Quite honest and broadminded. Someone who will understand you. Quite good looking too so you won’t be standing next to an ugly chimpanzee in your wedding picture. The first impression is good but you will have to meet him a few times before knowing the real him. », he replied.

While they got served, Saira stared into space. She never talked about it since her reports came out five years ago but deep down she always feared about being childless. If she rejected all the proposals in the past it wasn’t only because she didn’t want to have an arranged marriage but also because of this fear. She was a little ashamed too that Neil came to know about her fears in such a way. And the fact that he didn’t brought up that topic back again, she knew he was not trying to make her feel bad but he was sad for her. Neil wasn’t feeling pity for her but he was worried. He knew she was too selfless. She would stay forever alone but make a man stay with her if she can’t bear a child. Now he understood why she rejected so many proposals and why she herself wasn’t keen on finding a guy.

As soon as Samir entered the house, the entire family was too curious to know about his date. His mother and sisters wanted to know if he liked Saira. He told them how he liked her personality. She was the type of woman he always dreamed of. At last he smiled and told them that she was weird in a very cute way which was really attractive. The three women of his life were stunned to hear that he being the gentleman accepted to walk out of the café without paying the bill.

Saira and Samir thought about their conversation and their sincerity and good vibes made them want to give a chance to each other.
