Is Virat's redemption complete?

Both the times Virat crossed the line with Sai (PD lunch & DevKit wedding), Virat has not been shown reflecting on his reactions. In PD lunch episode, Virat is seen justifying his actions even after Ashwini tells him that he behaved like Ninad. It is only when Ashwini points out Sai is so pure-hearted that she did not question Virakhi's morals during the Ladakh trip that finally his conscience is awakened. During DevKit wedding, it is only after discovering that Sai was right about Pulkit that he starts repenting. Doesn't it seem like Virat feels guilty because his abusive reaction was not deserved rather than a realisation that his behaviour was wrong no matter what?

From what I've heard in the forum, GHKKPM's Virat is very different from KD's Rono. Virat is shown to be a gentleman - sensitive, sweet and emotional. It is understandable that Virat's aggressive behaviour during emotional upheaval is stemming from subconsciously imbibed patriarchy and toxicity. He acts that way when he is blind with rage and doesn't know what he is doing.

But it is still not relatable that someone as sensitive as Virat would not be questioning his reactions as well. Especially when is compared to Ninad either by Ashwini or by Ninad himself. I have felt a lot of times that the writers are not invested enough in Virat. This aspect seems to be a case of copy paste - where they have blindly copied Rono's mindset onto Virat's.

Or am I missing the point?

The writers go super lazy when it comes to Virat. Neil elevates scenes but there is only so much an actor can do. Both he & Ayesha had expressed inability to connect with the hand holding sequence. While Virat is better characterised for sure. The unnecessary copy paste is an headache. I don't know what else to say :(

I really resonate with what you wrote.

Makers need to show Virat realize that no matter what Sai does- he cannot hold her hand, deny her food and kick her out of the house. He was the guy that did not endorse use of force against an actual criminal like jagtap coz he was only accused and not convicted. That guy, that adarshwaadi, insaaf pasand police officer cannot lose control to such an extent that he treats his wife this way. Its a problem of blind copy paste. The makers really write very emotional and touching apology scenes but they either should have tweaked the scenes so its true to virat's personality or atleast show that he is not guilty over his actions only because Sai was right but also because his act was inappropriate even if Sai were to be wrong.

On the contrary with Sai, makers show her often reflect on her mistakes only to never address that with virat. When she had the argument where virat stormed off after she dragged pp into it, she realized her mistake but never said sorry for it even though its obvious how mad she felt at herself. Similarly with devkit, she was so guilty , so torn and upset about hiding things from Virat, she missed him terribly that she teared up as doon as she saw his face on video call- but she never addressed what happened in that time, what prompted her to act the way she did....

Even if we dont get Virat reflecting or Sai apologizing scenes it doesn't mean that Virat didnt understand that his action was wrong irrespective of circumstances and Sai didnt realize her mistake. They did. but we the audience didnt get to see it. We are just inferring it from body language, subtext. If we actually got these scenes it'd really elevate the show and Sairat relationship and Ayesha/neil would make those scenes amazing.

Why cant the makers create some nice original scenes that actually add value to original story.they should deviate a little and give a better version of the story rather than copying the ridiculous parts and omitting the good scenes. In KD, the Rono Imon scene in hospital and sar dabaana were nice and long and had lots more elements and very beautifully done. It was a turning point in the relationship. But they cut that down significantly in ghkpm sadly :(

Yes, Virat being a sensible person and responsible police officer, whatever he has done to Sai contradicts his character.

When it comes to Sai, be it possessiveness or concern, he loses his emotional balance and end up doing things out of his character.. he has done such irrelevant stuff only to Sai, till now! this is what I have told myself so that I don't lose the connection to the character 😃

The writers hate Virat 😒. Always been the case. Sai's character on the other hand is written with such love and care that you automatically root for her. Neil is such a fantastic actor. If not for him, we would not have been able to relate to Virat all. I can imagine what a fabulous job he would have done with a good script. I hate the makers for that. 😡

@red I can now see that even though Sai has not apologized for going behind Virat's back, there are indications that she has realised her mistake and will not repeat it (fingers crossed). For example, her wanting to tell Virat everything when he is in Amaravati, her feeling guilty that she was hiding this from him and hoping he will understand, to wanting to explain her stand when confronted after DevKit wedding.

Finding the same kind of subtext in Virat's case is more difficult. Only one I can think of is him telling Sai (in GC) that his actions are his alone and do not reflect his mother's upbringing. True, his body language is very convincing - he was even shown being traumatized by memories of the hand holding incident. But then he ended up repeating the offence with even more severity - and utterly immune to Ashwini's voice of reason. So I don't know how to interpret his thoughts or his body language. May be my vision is narrow. Will love to hear a contradictory opinion.

I agree with you.. But he was quite different in the Anniversary track..Even after Sai's rejection he was so worried for her when she was lost..

Though I failed to connect with him during ousting track. He was too engrossed with his own feelings. For once he didn't think about her safety.. Not even uttered a word what danger mat fall upon her because of his stupid action.

I don't think writers are going to close the missing dots 👎🏼

No for me it never was..He asks for forgiveness, Sai gives it...keep feeling bad for it for days and gets back to the same thing...He denied to even talk about the whole ousting thing because he was feeling bad..
