What will you do if your husband and his family abuse you everyday?

There are women who don't know about their rights because they are not educated enough to know that her husband or his family can't violate her rights, then there are social economic condition, which force many women to stay with their husband as they don't have means to go out

In real life, if someone is educated and knows her rights, as she is daughter of a policeman, Sai Joshi doesn't file reports for crimes committed by her husband's family

How is this character a feminism icon or an inspiration for women in real life?

When she comes back to the same family who abused her and loves the man, who threw her out of the house

How is she empowering women?

To conclude - I understand and sympathize with women who either don't know their rights or tolerate the abuse because she has no where to go, I admire women who break every barrier and get justice for themselves, but Sai Joshi is a character who is keeping a door open to return in the house, protecting criminals by hiding about their crimes

She is embodiment of what not only a woman but a responsible citizen of India should not do

If you want a real life example of an educated women not filing police complaint even after being a victim of domestic violence like literal violence of beatings then I have many examples and in one of the cases girl's father was dcp of the area.

A girl has to think many things before taking an action not that I am supporting their decision but it's their choice to make and sai did give back the chauvan's what they deserve just police complaint was not enough.

And feminism is not imprisoning someone it just means to stand up for yourself and treating yourself equal to any person in the society and I think which sai has done, she didn't take anyone's atrocities just like that she gave it back with interest.

I know many of us may think her decision was wrong but we have to accept that it is only victims decision to take.

I know of many girls who just didn't file any police complaint and also living with the same abusive in laws who has beaten them not because they were not educated or aware of their rights but because they were not financially independent which is more than important for every single person on this earth. And it takes a lot of guts to fight against the people whom we think as ours. It doesn't mean that girl is wrong.

To uphold — she has no one apart from Usha Maushi and is an orphan, her scholarship money most probably only covers her education and basic needs, why didn’t she go to the police and complain about the family that abused her? Because in spite of everything that Virat did, she still had the gratitude for all the good things he did for her. Theirs wasn’t a relationship out of love or respect. Virat gave her things out of responsibility towards her and she had to accept because he was the only one who looked after her few materialistic needs — that is after her father sacrificed his life for Virat.

Just goes on to show how Sai can never be compared to Virat. Even in extreme pain, she didn’t let go of the memories of the initial days of the relationship or forget how he gave her clothing, shelter and help towards education. She knows he didn’t do it out of love. It was a burden. She was an unwanted burden for him. She is grateful.

I have already addressed social and economic condition of women in my post

Sai's character is not bothered about it as she took one route of shaming them in front of everyone, why not take the legal route? What about actually punishing people who do wrong? Sai has no inhibitions in regards to her social economic condition

@Bold

I don't understand what do you mean by this, it wasn't enough is understandable but she didn't do it

Public shaming of Chauhan's would be the same in both case, I don't mind it but ultimately, I wanna see criminal in prison

This is one perspective then how is she inspiring women by not filing complaint against atrocities of her in laws? This is the question

She did shame him and accused Virat of EMA

I am sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to say and how is this relevant to my post

Okay ,don't take me seriously🤣

I am not into defence or offence, or I don't consider Sai an icon of feminism as you have suggested.

I just share my POV reagrding Sai and your questions.

See, my point is clear, look ,why should one be given special rights in society which preaches equality? Equality means when everything is balanced right. I believe a woman is not confined to kitchen and niether is a man confined to external matters. Both should have equal rights in everything. If a man is interested in staying at home and be at peace, he should be allowed as well to do what he wants, and so should a woman be given all rights, not permission,I hope you are getting it.

So, if a woman has to speak, why does she need rights? Why do I or anyone want a right given to them to speak or support that speech? For me,at that point, Sai comes out, she doesn't need permission or right to speak for herself, or in any matter which is wrong. That's it. Nothing special here.🤗

See as you itself suggested, many woman require rights to speak, and one shouldn't need that. A woman doesn't need her husband's, her in-laws permission to speak, she shouldn't require permission to speak, that is what Sai does, she fights against authority, that's what stands out to me atleast . Freedom of speech should be followed, none of here need special rights to do this.

And reagrding your question,if she returns, i have even saw a male accept his wife doing crimes, that's just thier decision here, their individual life, we all are seeing Sai, but that Sai has an individual life. And she has took her decision , and why should anyone, Sai or Virat ,fear what the society says or what message do they give in an individual decision. And individual thought without manipulation for me is also somewhere or the ogjer empowerment. Cuz,Sai has took her decision, she was nit made to.This is another problem ,biggest one-" sabse bada rog, kya kehte hai log".

So,this is what I feel regarding your topic.🤗❤

@bold

There is a reason why "fundamental" rights are specified and protected by court, if rights were obtained easily or they were sacrosanct in nature, we wouldn't need to protect them.

Sai as an individual can take any decision, that's upto her and none should care about it. But hiding a crime is a crime so no an individual can't take this decision, they have to be responsible to their state and people around them.

She is — by raising voice, not just for herself, she has done it for her mother in law too, and holding her head high, leaving. In spite of having no family to return to, her home in GC being unsafe, the neighbourhood drama was to protect Devyani (again, sisters before misters).

It will inspire women to raise their voices, to not be silent or cry outside and wait for their husbands to come around. Filing a complain is her individual decision — another woman seeing her may be inspired and go to the extent of doing it.

As for why she will come back later, this hasn’t happened yet so no discussion on this. Living in the moment, at present, she still represents a fierce woman breaking free from the shackles of patriarchy.

Hiding crime why pati ko khush rehne ka haq hai ,kyu , kyunki usne meri liye bahut kiya hai isiliye mera farz hai chup rehna , bullshit theory.

Lord Krishna said injustice karne wale se jyada bada galat injustice sehne wala hota hain ,

yaha pe sai ne khud crime ko chupaya kyu kyunki unke or unke mahan guru ke according virat sach tolerate nhi kar paye vo mar jayenge agar sach bahar aa gaya , vaise neighbours drama ke baad to khushi se phoola nhi sama raha hoga.

Jo khud crime ko hide kar raha vo konse crime ke liye chilla raha meri samajh ke bahar hain.

Jo strong women hoti vo adha adhura sach nhi bolti jisse unhe sympathy mile . Sai ne utna hi sach bola jisse unhe sympathy mile

Abhi neighbours tamasha isliye kiya coz revenge lena tha coz justice ke liye ladai nhi thi.

If virat would had not thrown her out then she would be ok with it .
