I absolutely do not think Sai is real. But she has been characterized as a first-year student who has gone through sexual abuse for more than half of her teenage. Her actions make sense even when they are stupid.

Virat on the other hand was characterized as an understanding, righteous police officer. And his character has been butchered . His actions don't go hand-in-hand with his characterisation.
