The spot-on realisation, and the sheer magic of Sairat

What an episode. Actually, the past three episodes. I wish I could go back in time and watch these episodes again for the first time. Yk, it doesn’t matter whatever happens after this. Ghum has done what many shows ( and I’m not just talking about indian tv shows) fail to do. They hit the nail on the head with the love confession/realisation. See, the slow burn will they-wont they period ALWAYS works if the lead pair has chemistry. But the tricky part is the timing and setup of the love realisation. Too rushed, too sudden, and sometimes, everything is right, but you just don’t FEEL the confession. Honestly, when Virat decided to tell Sai his dil ki baat, I feared that it might feel rushed. But today when I saw these two, and Virat sorta confessed, nothing felt rushed. I guess the credit for this goes to Neil and Ayesha, there’s just something about them, they have this inexplicable natural intensity between them.

Add: Holi was the perfect festival for this to happen. It’s such a sensual festival, I can totally understand how Sai Virat broke their boundaries, even when not intoxicated. Is it just me or they’ve started looking at each other too intensely ever since Virat came back? Like their self control is hanging by a thread.

Sai and Virat have the classiness and the magic of an old Bollywood couple, but at the same time they are real and fresh like a new age couple. The rang barse dance sequence proved this. It was easily the best dance sequence I’ve seen in a show. The garden, the gulaal, and ofcourse the song gave such old school feels. But the spirit and sparks of the dance made it so cheery, and almost...teenage. Sai virat, their in sync movements, and even their surroundings were in love. It doesn’t matter if a certain someone dreams (I’ve thankfully stayed away from bts for months now) of Virat. Those dreams are as shallow (and unattainable) as Jagtap’s dreams of winning Sai. Yes, Patralekha is a an emotional gundi.

I am so grateful for these episodes, because even if Sai doesn’t know Virat loves her, atleast the audience hasn’t been left hanging in the air. Who knows what’s going to play out next week? Let’s just stay intoxicated with these episodes, just like the characters are.

[Btw one question: is Sai drunk anymore or not?]

Beautiful post. Loved reading the analysis and absolutely agree with everything you’ve said. I think Sai was conscious because she still remembered her mission Dev-Kit. I also think Virat was conscious when he professed his love for her. 🍒

Right? They seemed drunk otherwise, but while talking about real stuff, the slurring and the drowsiness vanished.

loved your post. i think sai is in her senses even if a little tipsy. but viru to pura talli hogaya. i think even while in her senses sai is unable to resist the pull towards virat. because she might be refusing to acknowledge the feelings she has for him but the festivity and the love around is not allowing her to guard her fort.

Loved your post and yes, I do agree with you. There was one scene which I really loved was the one where both were not intoxicated and Sunny asks Virat to take more gulaal and apply on Sayi. Then the chase begins and though initially it was simply a fun chase but later when he gets hold of her dupatta and then when both of them apply gulaal it becomes intense. From fun filled chase in a fraction of a second their expressions change in to an intense one. We can actually feel the intensity and it's all because of Neil and Ayesha.
