1. Man abuses wife/gf ; the harder she resists cowing down, harder should be the punishment

2. The wife/gf ....sorry 'thing' threatens to leave (obligatory)

3. Man apologizes with tears and folded hands

4. Man gives reasons for abuse - care, fikr, feeling bad etc.

5. Guilt trips the thing that maybe she started it

6. Tell the thing that he loves it/it means a lot to him (This is the most potent weapon)

7. Ask "Doesn't he deserve forgiveness?"

8. Promises profusely that it will never happen again

9. Thing melts like a butter

10. Buy the thing some candy floss

Spoiler alert : It will happen again

Episode left a bad feeling in the mouth. Virat's 'remorse' was shallow. My hope was that Sai will give such a fight back that Virat will not get it easy. And boundaries of basic human respect will be established. But Sai turned out to be a puddle of mush.

Well, a gentle reminder-

That's how it works in real life.

Not from man's side but from woman's side also.

If anyone has committed mistake then he/she will say sorry and will put out his/her points in defense that why they did the particular thing and that they deserve forgiveness. And its the universal truth that ek couple mein galti kabhi kabhi ek tarfa nahi hoti. Kisi ek ki jyada ho sakti hai kisi ki kam but hoti dono ki hai.

And it doesn't depend on third person to decide for a couple. Its between them only to believe each other or not., To forgive or not. Many women even forgive extra marital affairs of their husbands and many husbands even let go the fact that their wife tried to forge a false abuse or dowry case against them. And this is not assumption. This is statistics and facts from the dispute in family courts.

Anyways, virat did mistake and he said sorry and also felt it. He promised he wont repeat it again. So he deserves forgiveness. And its upto sai to accept apology or not and she accepted it because she believed in his sorry, in his genuine feelings

@blue True. But when the mistake crosses a threshold (severe breach of trust), it leads to a diatnce too difficult to navigate

@red I agree that what you are referring to does happen in real life. There are 100 reasons why someone may want to stay in a marriage. The point is that even if the person decides to forgive his/her spouse (for egregious acts like abuse, infidelity etc), lives together again, the emotional distance caused by the wrong will remain. The path to true reconciliation is a long one. What they have shown here seems shallow.

Even in his apology, he seemed so...I don’t know, conniving? Maybe I’m thinking too much about this but the way Virat spoke, it sounded like Sai’s forgiveness is something he is ‘entitled’ to rather than something he has to earn. Even his apology was all about him being the victim, him wanting to spend time with her, him wanting to take her out to lunch, how she meant a lot to him. There was no real remorse. I wish Sai had held her ground and left that hellhole Chavan Niwas and I wish Virad had to work hard to gain her forgiveness but nope, a few tears and mushy words and voila, all is forgotten. Now, I am not blaming Sai. I have seen educated, independent and more ‘mature’ girls succumb to the emotional oscillations of men and Sai is but a 18-19 year old. The man in front of her is charming, good looking and has been there for her ever since she lost her world, her father. But the whole glossing over and romanticising this almost joke of an apology is really irking me. What else can we expect from Star Plus? I am just disappointed.

I agree .... first hand experience with abuse victims this is just how it keeps going inflict the damage apologise and then go for more brutal until you go for jugular in the final blow .... thats how the real life shapes up

atleast in fiction one can hope to see something different bcos it is all entertainment supposed to be a little different than in real life may be yes may be not but the creative writers of the showbiz do excel in writing who can do worse 🤷‍♀️ But whatever people romanticize all kinds of things .... different people different pov different perceptions but sadly abuse stays nothing changes especially in ITV they promote it with unsurpassed glee on a golden platter with very innovative tag lines

I am by no means judging any couple who forgive and move on. I'm judging the show for portraying the whole process in a rushed, shallow way and ending it with candy floss. I'm sure no couple in their position will be in less than sombre mood. They need to do a lot of work in their relationship. To me, the way they showed the whole thing felt like an abuser apologizing to stop the wife from leaving (without much communication or introspection) - with a very scary possibility it will happen again. Hence the post. Just my POV.
