The Symbolism of the Precap

We saw that in the precap, Kaku is asking Sai to do the ritual where she has to change her name, probably surname. And I'm really not going to talk about whether Bhavani is doing this to get back at Sai or something like that.

I feel that the precap, along with Bhavani's way of getting back at Sai, is also showing that she's in a way, accepting Sai into the family. She can't expect Sai to change name and become a Chavan bahu, without her accepting Sai.

Even if it's not a wholehearted acceptance yet, it means that she is coming to terms with the fact that Sai is Virat's wife, and hence, whether she likes it or not, a part of the family.

I'm really looking forward to the episode tomorrow. And I'm quite sure that Virat will also be insistent to keep it as Sai Joshi.

I don't think she's anywhere close to accepting Sai yet. This is just her way of trying to humiliate her further and reinforce the "badtameez junglee mungli" thing. She knows Sai will never accept this. It's a battle of wits between Mast Mast and Sai now.

Subtle but true. Bhavani seems to have accepted on some level that Virat is not gonna leave Sai because of her whims and fancies, hence she is now trying to make her a proper Chavan kulvadhu and hide any traces of where Sai comes from aka her last name - Joshi (for the sake of family dignity..maybe?).

IMO she is just trying to get back at Sai.

She knows Sai won’t change her name and thus rebel against her with which TMK is trying to prove she is not a suitable Bahu as she doesn’t listen to her elders.

But luckily Virat has to do the rasam and I’m sure he won’t change her name. Her name is the only remembrance of her Aaba. 💔
