While the1st episode introduced the 'Behrahampur' village as a character in itself with introductions of the 2 male leads, the 2nd episode gave us a deeper look into the relationship dynamics of the 2. The Ghulam who can bring the opposition down on their knees is however a docile, loyal pet to his Malik. The Malik who claims that he has given the status of a brother to his ghulam & therefore wants to own his soul itself.
The most heartbreaking scenes were the one where Veer feeds his own chocolate to Rangeela after literally strangling him & coercing him into giving up his God & the flashback of their younger times where we clearly see how Rangeela has been treated all his life as less than a human. But still he feels loyalty towards the ruling family & especially Veer, his owner. We may find it impossible to believe but this is the way in which he has been conditioned from childhood. Imagine a child who is a slave but still gets less harsher treatment than his other counterparts. He surely would feel that he is luckier than others to have obtained a benevolent owner. So it would be interesting to see how the fates of these 2 intrinsically bonded characters reveals itself as the plot thickens.
Today we got introduced to the 3rd protaganist whose life is going to get entangled with the 2 other protagonists. Shivani, the soft spoken, never-seen- the-outer-world, who cries @ the drop of a hat ooops sorry kulfi matkas. She who is terrified & shivering at just the thought of crossing the traffic filled road in Delhi. Who has come all the way to the city for her family members treatment even though they can't afford a single hotel room & have to stay on footpath. This is so realistic to me as I, staying in Mumbai & working in hospital environment, have seen the same scenario outside the government hospitals. Her characters look & behaviour shown so far is believable. Shivani is just a normal looking, hard working girl belonging to a poor family & the characters styling showcases the same.
The interaction between Rangeela & Shivani pleasantly surprised me. I had expected that Rangeela would be more hard hearted & intimidating to Shivani but he was just such a sweetheart to her. He really helped her not just by using brawn but also using his brain. Their encounter thankfully didn't have any look-look hawa-hawa, slow motion, infinite closeups or God forbid revolutions around them. It was just a simple interaction in a daily hubub of life with not even a special bg score. Yet! Therefore I liked it. Also it was really cute how he made fun of her crying. It was not mean & insulting. Also loved his nickname for her. Ms. Rondu indeed!!
Another important thing noticed by me is that Veer is the youngest son. I had thought that he would be the eldest with the sheer ruthlessness & cunning displayed by him.The elder bro has not been introduced yet & the middle bro has been already shown to be a useless drug addict. So it would be interesting to see how the story heats up with regards to the fight for the rulers throne that would surely ensue based on Veer's characterisation which has shown him to be the one who thrives on power. So the role Rangeela will definitely play in this would also evolve their owner- slave relationship.
Also much has been speculated regarding thr changes Shivani would bring in Rangeela's life but how she will affect Veer is really an ace card if used cleverly in the show. Through his ruthless tortures to Rashmi who was supposed to be his wife ,his belief in the line that women are to be treated as pao ki jooti has been established but will he do the same in case of Shivani or will he change the rule for her. If shown cleverly, Shivani's influence on Veer can cause a rippling effect in the still, dark, poisonous waters of 'Behrahampur'.
So after this I am really intrigued by how this girl will get entangled between the 2 male protagonists. Will this fragile flower survive in this barren ruthless land or become the steel strength for the Ghulam to overthrow the shackles of slavery? Or will she become the one redeeming factor of the ferocious Veer. Oh how these characters are unaware of the sparks that will emerge when their fates collide.
PS: Sorry for the long rambling😃 😆
