I can't stand these type of women, who enable domestic violence and such terrible attitudes. She is as much at fault as her sasur for propagating such ill-conceived and backward views. Aur Nikhil jaise nikamma pati bhagwaan kisi ko na den.

I can't believe just to prove a point to each other, Jhanvi and thakur are ruining that little girl's life. I've had enough of this crap!! This is why I never watch this show and just read the updates. Makes my blood boil to watch it. 😡

Yes she is!

She wants Thakur to be progressive, so she ends up "rebelling", but then, she succumbs back to Thakur's orthodoxic ways. It's like she wants a middle ground when there is none!
Thakur barks at the wrong house. Ruining Bhavna's life and making her illiterate, is not just. Why was he elected mukhiya in the first place? He should throw away the dhoti, kurta, pagh, and tika because they don't serve him a purpose. He can still be the jailer without those niceties and extra show pieces.
This show has some drugged characters!

U put it very very aptly . She is as much at fault for propogating such backward views . The most horrid thing about this show is they show women pampering the men and enjoying the domestic violence by giving it big big names like patni dharma or suhagan dharma or bahu dharma . For instance , this abusive Thakur clearly needs an FIR lodged against him , a shaking by the police , a night in the cell , and warnings from his bahus to behave himself if he doesnt want a case registered against him . But he is shown getting hot meals , his feet touched , and the utmost respect there is .
Jhanvi's behaviour of succumbing to his punishments is so unbelievable that I wonder if her prostitution days have anything to do with this kind of gleeful acceptance of punishment . It sounds crude and corny but really , there is no other explanation for this gluttony for pain inflicted by a man except perhaps for the excuse that once upon a time she had training as a prostitute . And maybe , just maybe she finds her sasur more manly than her lallu husband . Forgive me guys for saying thus but this show , as u said , makes my blood boil and i too only read the updates .

I think that she's trying to "live" the same life she led in the bazaar. Men there trampled over her. Thakur is doing the same thing albeit in a different way.
As a psychology major, I think that it has become a psychological problem. She came into the G house and refused to change. Then, she changed and upon that change, came a new set of rules--a new way of living, completely unknown to her before--that didn't make her submissive to men. In the G House, no one treated her like she was being treated back at the bazaar. And now, after marriage, she has returned back to a bazaar-style realm, where she's treated like litter by Thakur. Therefore, she has started to like it, because it has brought her back to the life before G House was introduced. It has brought her back to when she didn't know anything else that was different. It has brought her back to live like she had for some 20ish years of her life in the bazaar.
Submissiveness to men has been inbred into her soul and onto her body like a second skin. She can't stay away from it. She loves it!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣

lol, I think that explanation makes total sense. It does have to do with her prostitution days.

Or another theory is that she feels so guilty and "soiled" that she was a prostitute that she now wants to whole-heartedly accept the "suhagan dharma" which according to her F-i-L is these insane medieval type of rules and regulations. Maybe she considers this an extension of some kind of pati vrata woman, and it makes her feel more accepted as a "proper" woman and "purifies" her. The whole thing is revolting! But the sad truth is that she was probably better off as a prostitute than this nonsense. At least she would have been in control of her finances and would not have to live under the insane rules of a psychotic man.

The thakur acts like he has the brain of a 5 year old child combined with a sociopath. He gets pleasure out of tormenting the women of the household including that little girl. How sick.

That's true, her husband is SO useless I would be surprised if any woman would find that kind of man attractive. Seriously, he has even stopped giving facial expressions. Come on now!

I think you guys are giving the writers too much credit! There is no psychology here: Jhanvi is just as foolish and submissive as her sisters, who were not raised in a brothel (though they were raised under the thumb of their misogynist father...but still...the writers believe these pipsqueak women are emotionally and mentally strong and capable...).

I will repeat what I said before: Jhanvi has a rebellious spirit but fails to seize upon it when it really matters. She will rebel and do as she please when no one is watching, but once she is caught she covers her face, looks down submissively, and apologizes. It's all good until she gets caught. If Thakurji had never found her anklet, she would never have thought she did anything wrong. Only because he found out and scolded her did she consider it a "mistake." If ultimately she is going to let him control her and what she considers right and wrong, why rebel in the first place? If she thought letting Bhavna dance was the right thing to do, or if she thought releasing Bhavna from the fountain was right...why does she apologize for it later? She is a big fat wuss and now poor Bhavna is paying for it.

She says they must do what is right, and not accept injustice. Then she says they must obey her beloved pittaji. She does not seem to recognize that there is an inherent contradition there. Not for any psychological reason, but because she is a moron.

If she really had any guts and any sense of justice, she would have phoned the police the second she saw hiim tying Bhavna to the fountain. But the writers wouldn't have any of that. It would be considered disrespect towards elders, or some crap like that. This show never portrays the women as outright rebelling or standing up for themselves. They go about everything in such a roundabout way and when things finally work out, it isn't because of their strength or courage but simply luck or some nonsense BS drama (like Saraswati's murder trial).

Nikhil needs to get off his wussy duff and walk out on Jhanvi. He knows he is right and she is wrong. If he leaves, maybe she will finally get the message. She will have to choose--is my place with my husband or my sasur?

Unfortunately he will tolerate anything to have sex with Jhavni...I mean sorry if that is TMI but it's certainly true.

Okay, the horse (this show) has been beaten to death. I don't think any of us have the energy and/or the interest to say anything more. I'm just glad that people in the real world are very unlike these GKLB characters. Thank god for that!

Aha , but I have more . I want to stop here and second Rainabow's assumption that Nikhil will tolerate any nonsense from his wife just to have sex with her . I apologize too , but everything in the serial points to this alone . This serial not only insults women but even men . Look at all the men in this serial...........Shitij , Yuvraj , Nikhil , Hasmukh[ controlled by their wives ] .........useless , vacant headed wusses . Then is another breed ..........Surya , Thakurjee etc , dominant , arrogant and abusive . Some r like Rasik , Balwant Chabda , Akash etc ........... utter sleazeballs . Is there a single nice , normal man in this serial ? A man who is not dominating but no wuss , who is capable of deep love but does not abdicate his own sense of judgement or reasoning power , who would never hurt his wife but would not hesitate to pull her up without mincing words when she is totally wrong , and most importantly , isnt egoistic but not without his self respect ? We women on this forum wud love to see such a man . Anyone out there who has the guts to carve out such a character ?

The women hog all the limelight and the men are strayed. I think it's the same in every show. Maybe if writers and producers focused to equalized each character so that he or she received the same footage as the next character, things would be different. Friends was like that. All six characters were shown in equal bits and it was a hit. Quality cinema has been long overthrown and taken over by these careless loafers.
