I don't think I would be comfortable letting those stupid girls touch my business with a ten foot pole!

I actually think this is an ongoing fault of the show, and not just a recent problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the girls are basically uneducated right? They have only received a very basic education? That is my impression.

I would like to see them use their inheritance towards something meaningful, like a proper education, so they would be better posed to at least partially control the business.

Kajri and Rasili were the most boring rich people ever. All they did with their money was buy expensive saris and jewelry. Nothing of substance. That would be a good way to highlight the difference between them and the betiyaan.

Not holding my breath though. It's a rare treat to see these goofy sisters even leave the house, especially now that they're all having children.

The education of the Betiyaan is a mystery as it has never been mentioned in this serial inspite of 400 episodes ..........all we know is Yuvraj actually went to Oxford .
I dont think they r uneducated . I think it wud be safe to presume they had at least a Gujrathi medium education and r graduates or undergraduates if not highly qualified .
As it happens , the Gujrathi community r really excellent businessmen , and back in rural Gujrat i dont think their degrees will matter much in the taking over of business ............infact Gujrathis and Marwaris r known for their enterpreneurial skills , educated or not .
Frankly this show is a blot on the Gujju community , which is excellent in pragmatic wisdom , business and r extremely hardworking . Women , even more so especially .

I can say the same - my business entirely. 😃 Besides why not focus on the topic at hand...if serials made any sense, no body would watch them. As illogical or irrational as they are at times - they are still very addictive.

^Dear, if you are not interested in this post... you don't have to reply. But please don't discourage healthy discussion and instead try to contribute in discussions yourself too, even if you disagree with the topic. We'd like to hear all sorts of views, without trying to attack members. Thanks :)

Very true post koolsadhu... the latest episodes have been so horribly horrifying that I have too much to say about them. Forget leaving behind their business for this little vacation to naandgaon, whatever did they do to their children while they were away? Does Durga's sasural even care where she is? Time to vent it all out...

And Jhanvi simply left the school like that, despite the villagers specially requesting her to teach their children? If she cared so much about the school, did she even care to appoint a replacement teacher if she planned to leave? Now who is teaching those children, Radhaji?

I dont even want to get started on the rain scene yesterday when Jhanvi agreed to marry Nikhil. One word that is for sure NOT in the betiyaan's dictionary is PRIVACY. The whole time, all the sisters are watching on with Radhaji by their side. Really, the entire scene was just hard to digest... the sisters nodding in approval before Jhanvi saying yes. They are just so in-your-face that its beyond annoying.

Kshitij it seems is the new Hasmukh of the generation, just standing around with the women... guess it won't be soon till we see him saying 'Maine kuch bola?'

Then Gauri today was really strangely obvious in her sadness. Right in Jhanvi's face, she cries and wipes her tears... as if just searching for someone to notice her. Agreed, she's sad about not getting married yet, but to show it on her sister's face so directly instead of atleast pretending happy? She should be more upset at her parents... it doesnt even seem as if they've been trying at all to get her married!

Well, thats all I've got for now... but seriously, when I start about betiyaan, its hard to stop. Interesting post!

Oh gosh, I agree with all of you. Very very unreal show.
The girls have no brains and they repeat their mistakes over and over and over again.
If this is what the show portrays the women of India, it is a real shame. You don't need much education to run a business, but these girls are lacking big time common sense. I guess the common sense is not common any more.....

I'm not attacking anyone. I have a right to my opinions just as you do to yours. I merely responded back to a post asking me a question and even then I never "attacked" anyone nor did I say anything wrong. So please choose your words accordingly. I have engaged in many healthy discussons thank you very much. So don't let me discourage you or anyone else from disussing away at the "latest stupidity of the daughters" thread. Besides, this is a public forum where all opinions are welcomed whether someone likes it or not. 😉

P.S. I'm editing my post to "engage" in this discussion...so yeah, the daughters somehow feel that their brother-in-law can handle all the business on his own while they go and travel to support their sister. But it would make sense if some of them - especially his wife - would've stayed behind to go to the office and help out. But that would be like asking them to use their minds for once! 😆

Thanks Kruthi .
All the loopholes that u pointed out Kruthi , i wonder why the scriptwriters dont see them , they r such obvious ones . Of all the scriptwriting teams i have seen , the Betiyaan team do the most shoddy scriptwriting . It is absolutely apalling and careless . Sometimes i wonder if they even remember the earlier episodes .
For instance ..........do they remember that they married Durga off ? Or Laxmi ? Why do the husbands disappear after marraige ? In Betiyaan only two options r there ........become gharjamais or disappear .
Since Betiyaan always showed a very primitive and crude kind of Indian society { the crowd at functions that spoke like robots on personal issues ].................why is it not shown that ths same crowd taunts Durga and Laxmi for staying so long , without rhyme or reason at their parents place ? Frankly in these two womens cases , one wud actually applaud the robot crowd for hooting them . They have no earthly reason to go on living at their maayka ............they obviously have no interest in an institution called marraige . why then , did they get married ?
Horribly apalling fact , Durga , after her family crisis i s over has not rushed back to her in laws place but coolly gone off to Nandgaon instead . Which traditional in laws ever will welcome her back ? And how come traditional Savitri who is so well versed in Indian culture doesnt even bother to tell her daughter that its hi time u go back to ur home or ur in laws will be offended ?
Question remains ..........wud Jhanvi have said yes if sisters didnt approve ? Poor Nikhil ! Whats this ? Why is it shown that Saras is the team leader and the other four r robots and no one ever has a mind of her own ? No individual personality , life , interests ?
Laxmi had a baby ..........it can be assumed that Savitri looked after kiran , but Lami's baby was too small to be left behind . Where was it left ?
Why did Jhanvi take so much interest in a school that since it wasnt even set up , cudnt even pay her ? And then after no payment , she gave the set up school to that old lady and went away ? When her purpose in leaving Garodia Niwas was becoming financially stable , it i proved that she didnt get a penny for so many months ...........school wasnt even set up or running ! So what was point f leaving home , staying at Nandgaon and hugging Radhaji ?
Just like Sp wallahs ignored a lovely story of color discrimination and focussed only on BV , Betiyaan team has been very lazy and careless about a serial that had great potential . Betiyaan was lovely till they showed the unfairness in the Garodia household , Savitri's suppresion , Laxmi's attempts at rebellion , the joint family atmosphere where Baa openly favored Menaka..........it first started getting ridiculous when Saras went back to Bhavishya , pretending to be Preeti and beame pregnant . The later plots started losing more and more common sense till they have reached a point where they have become devoid of it now .

Such interesting and lively discussion. Aside from totally agreeing that the story of Betiyaan is so poorly plotted and loopholes are becoming more than what we can remember...I am particularly annoyed yet amazed at how strong their relationship are towards one another. So strong that everything they do have to be done TOGETHER!

@ koolsadhu1000: I agree with your points. In fact, I often read your posts, as they make a lot of sense :-)
Well there was a point where I actually felt that the show had potential and would promote women in a positive light, showing what they are truly capable of. Sadly, that never happened and I doubt it will. The betiyaan constantly make the same mistakes and are so easily fooled, it's becoming a comedy show.
And as you rightly menitoned, there are far more pressing issues that the betiyaan should be focusing on, yet they are too busy dancing around and trying to get Jhanvi married off ( can't that wait?!) I'm surprsied that nothing practical has been done yet.
As most serials are over the top, I can understand why Betiyaan is no different. But if the makers of the show want it to make a positive impact on viewers, they need to do some soul-searching. Betiyaan at this point in time, does not portray the women in a good light and simply shows them as weak.
