The unit of Ghar Ek Spana had a miraculous escape while shooting on Thursday at Jaipan Studio in Goregaon, when a fire broke out suddenly in the studio. Though shooting equipment worth a few lakhs of riupees were reduced to ashes, fortunately the cast and crew were rescued.

The ground floor of Jaipan studio is used for storage purposes and the first floor is used for shooting. At around 3.30 pm some crew members noticed smoke emanating from the ground floor. They ignored it initially and continued shooting since their was no episode bank. But minutes later the ground floor was gutted and people started feeling suffocated and there was pandemonium. Soon all the actors and the crew members were evacuated. Though the fire brigade was summoned immediately, it took more than an hour to control the fire.

Ajay Sinha, the producer of the show said, "Thankfully, our assistant director Prabhat, Dressman Tansingh and executive producer Nilesh Inamdar helped a great deal evacuating the unit. There are no casualties, thankfully. The shooting has been stalled and we will start it once things get normal."

According to executive producer Nilesh Inamdar since the team did not have an episode bank they were shooting non-stop. He says, "We were shooting a crucial scene when we noticed smoke coming out from the ground floor. We ignored it and continued shooting as it was very urgent. But, a few minutes later, we noticed that the exit door was gutted with smoke. We just stopped shooting immediately and everyone rushed out."

Not everyone came out because they were scared. Adds Inamdar, "Our assistant director Prabhat, Dressman Tansingh and I helped everyone to come out. One thing we made sure that we shut the lights off before leaving. Prabhat and Tansingh were so busy rescuing equipments that everyone thought they were stuck inside. I also went inside to get a box which had Rs one lakh. Thankfully, everyone was evacuated unhurt since the fire brigade and the police arrived on the spot very soon. We are yet to start shooting. The unit is yet to recover from the shock."
