so Geet is an introvert and has only one friend... Annie

she hates strangers and keeps everything to herself

of cos she is deemed to be arrogant

seems like Maan knows her well and understands her

Geet is scared of Maan.... and hates Maan as he is the omnipresent intruder

at least he respects her privacy

Geet is reserved person she only friendly with Annie she always avoid talking to ppl her family knows her very well but others thing about her egoist or arrogant Maan too thought same but after seeing her friendship with Annie he understand her well but he getting attract to her with time he respects her privacy and stalk her from distance

Nice prologue. Geet in this ff is very different from other stories. She is introvert. Maan likes her and wants to talk to her. But she is always scared of him.

So this is a different take , geet is introverted & kind of allergic to people 😆...... unlike most stories where she is bubbly & befriends everyone.

Maan is patient with Geet

as he knows she is an introvert and gets scared with people around her

Geet's family needs to get Geet out of this otherwise as she grows older it would

Part – 1

Geet is this lucky girl to have born in the prestigious Handa family, specially as Maninder’s daughter….

Maninder was so happy after the birth of his princess… he didn’t just call her his princess for namesake… she was actually his princess…

After Geet turned out to be a girl, the relatives wanted Ranno to go for a boy…

Ranno too wanted to have another child, it’s not like she wanted a boy, but she wanted a sibling for Geet… she knew that Geet needed one…

But Maninder was adamant, Ranno conceived when they first came to Delhi …. .

Maninder had made his mind that Geet is his world and he is working hard for her happiness…

He would do anything to keep her happy… he didn’t like the idea of sharing his love with anyone else except his beloved daughter…

That time the trend was, one family one child…

Maan was a single child, so was Annie….

Kiran did want another child,, but she was blessed with only one by nature…

Moreover Maninder had pledged every bit of his land for his business, it’s not so easy to move from a place like Hoshiarpur and settle in a huge city like Delhi… .

It’s a lifetime risk and Maninder is determined to succeed for his daughter… which he did for the love of his daughter…

When Ranno told about her pregnancy, Maninder convinced her that Geet is their world and they can’t have another child somehow and made her drop that child…

Maninder gave Geet everything she needed and also everything she wanted..

A separate room, all for herself… a music system, a separate TV in her room… it’s not common to have a separate TV in every room in those days… specially at Hoshiarpur…

But here in Delhi, they can afford it… even Maan and Annie didn’t have that luxury…

Being a joint family, they were staying with their parents till they were much older…

Then only Maan got his separate room… that too without TV… Annie shared Dadi’s room ….

Maan fought with Sheetal and got a portable TV for his room to watch his matches… Annie came to watch her favourite series at his room… they have fought a lot for the remote…

Geet found that funny, for she didn’t have a sibling to fight with….

Annie used Geet to tackle her brother, she knew that Maan is fond of Geet… actually Annie and Dadi are the ones who knew about Maan’s liking for Geet….

Annie thought that it was just infatuation, only from her brother’s side…

Geet never showed any interest in her brother, or any boy, girl for that matter…

Now they have got their lappy itself….

Maninder had rented an apartment in Delhi… .

But then he got a strong hold in his business and started making a sizeable profit…

Madan insisted that he got himself a flat in one of their upcoming projects…

That was specifically made for their choice…

Geet was not much worried about how her dwelling looked as far as she got a separate room… her wish was fulfilled when she has her own space….

They had a small house warming ceremony…

Darji too came for that and he was so proud of his son…

Geet was so happy to see Darji again…

They even had a room for Darji in their new home and Darji will be staying with them only… .

Darji was her best friend… he introduced her to the reading habit… he was the one who told her stories about the history and not the usual fairytales….

Darji was literate enough to read and write Punjabi…

He learnt English on his own interest… he never missed the English news on Radio and DD…

Geet liked to listen to them along with him, she would ask about everything and he was happy to tell whatever he knew…. He was her Wikipedia at that time…

It was all perfect, a family reunion with the three generations back together…

The shifting process was going on…

Most of the things were packed and they could move anytime…

Ranno insisted that they stay for one more night in that lucky house from where Maninder’s dreams came true….

They had a special place for that house where they have stayed for nearly ten years…

They came here when Geet was three and now she is thirteen….

Geet had only sweet memories of that place, though it was a small two bedroom apartment, it was more than enough for them..

Even in those weekends when the Khuranas came for lunch, the ladies took the dinning area, the men occupied the living area while the girls had a good time in Geet’s room…

Maan would be the one left to be on his own, he was not young enough to enjoy playing with the girls nor was he old enough to join the business talks of the men…

But having interest in the business line that their families have ventured into, he was keen to know what was happening at M&M constructions…

He never asked Madan about that, for his father still considers him as an immature boy…

But Maninder on the other hand encouraged Maan’s interest in their business, he shared whatever that Maan could understand…

Maan was a quick learner and he used such opportunities to enrich his business knowledge..

At times he would join the girls when they played cards.. Geet was a pro, she had a good memory and she learner the techniques of the game from non other than her Darji..

Most of the times Annie would be on the losing side when she would go and bring her big brother to take revenge…

Sometimes Maan would win but many times it’s only Geet who won..

Geet took it as a challenge to never let that Khurana win… it was like talking revenge for his invasion into her privacy, she did like such intellectual challenges and wanted to show that she was a tough competitor….

Maan on the other hand was using the opportunity to admire her rather than challenge her, he was ready to lose but kept the fights longer so that he had more time to spend with her…

Annie was always on her brother’s side… she would be supporting and encouraging him throughout…

Maan would deliberately send Annie to bring him refreshments and Geet will go into her silent mode then.. she had rarely spoken with Maan when they were alone..

That too only about school… Maan would know about the school events from Annie and ask about them… Geet was this quiet obedient student, but once when a teacher erred in history, Geet started arguing with her from the knowledge she had from her Darji…

At last the teacher gave up… Annie told that she was surprised to see Geet’s that Avatar….

She had this obsession to correct the facts like people who had problems with wrong grammar… she won’t be able to tolerate any nonsense about what her Darji had told her.. for her, Darji was never wrong with his facts.. mostly that was true… but sometimes even Darji had made mistakes..

That was the loopholes that helped Maan a lot…

Maan was amused but he found a way to converse with her…

Poor Maan had to work hard in his social lessons for that… but that only helped him in improving his grade to Madan’s surprise, thanks to Geet Handa…

Maan would bring up some interesting topic from the past and when Geet put her views Maan would automatically start giving opinions against her views.. she would keep arguing until Maan gave up…

Annie would be bored and leave that place in the middle…

She could understand Geet, but why was her brother interested in such boring subjects?

Once they had an intellectual compitition of sorts, a simple questionnaire to test their metal abilities… but as usual our Geet Handa took it very seriously… she hates to lose any mental battle, and to lose to this Khurana was the last thing she would want…

Maan: how many nines are there in 100?

Geet being over smart starts counting immediately…

Her brain works faster using shortcuts…

One nine in every 10 digit, so 10… but wait 99 has two, so he is trying to trick her??

Geet responds with confidence and pride that she has out smarted him…

Geet: I know, I know, it’s 11

Maan: no, it’s wrong

Geet: how?

Maan counts using his fingers like Kindergarten kids…

Maan: 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, 79, 89, 9….9

Geet: that’s right, eleven only, you are cheating

Maan: wait, I didn’t finish

Geet looks at him doubtfully…

Maan continues with a winning smile….

Maan: 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98 , how many nines Geet?

Geet can’t take the defeat easily…. She feels like she is being insulted…

Maan: it’s 20 nines totally

Maan won Geet in that argument…

Geet couldn’t accept that she lost a silly question…

How was that even possible?

Geet had sleepless nights for a couple of days for she couldn’t take that defeat by that Khurana easily…

But Maan had a lot of fun having meaningless arguments with her like that after that…

In all those arguments Maan was the one on the losing side, but he was happy as long as Geet was happy…

Geet was reminded of those interesting times spent in her room, she was going to part ways with that place…

She had some pics of the house to cherish… some were family get-togethers in which Maan was there too…

Maan on the other hand was thinking about the new ways to get this new bonding forward…

But then everything changed overnight, literally…

Their enmity just started to blossom, when Maan had just got the confidence to turn it into friendship, fate took his Geet away from him…
