“I won't ever fall in love, geet...I swear”

His words echoed in her mind. Again and again. Piercing her heart like a needle. She didn't attend the next lecture. Her favourite Professor his could lured her too. She left the college before him. No adieu. No apprisal. Not their usual loitering at parking lot Not a small styrofoam cup of tea. She waited for none. She just left, when he went upstairs to reissue the book.

She wasn't in love with him. No. I am not. They were both so focused in their studies. Their career. They were in love with the idea of being in love. Theirs had been a platonic friendship. But together they admired the Dev Naintara love story. And many other love legends. Like Laila- Majnu, Heer- Ranjha, Romeo-Juliet . They just wanted to devour the feeling of being in love. The most talked about. The most wrote about. The most cherished. The most serene. The most lusty. Pain and pleasure together, The combination, the love. They longed to be in love. They wanted to be among those few fortunate who are cursed with the cupid's arrow right across their hearts.

Wondered aloud in each other company . How it felt to be loved, to love other.

“It’s fun ?or it's hurts?...Jaisa bhi hoga acha lagta hoga” they mutually agreed and giggled watching the Dev-Naintara in head over heels in love. The tiny mini gesture the couple showed warmed their heart. They wished to fell in love.

Her vision became hazy as theirs words began to ring in her ear.

‘Geet! Its valentines day today’

‘So ? In case in you are forgetting let me remind you. Maan, our exam are starting next month. You need not roam around in college with red Roses. And better complete the chapter today. It will keep your mind of these nonsensical saga okay now study.”

“Miss Padaku then how on earth we are gonna find our love”

“Mister you need not to find love..It happens. Samjhe"

She wiped the lone tear with the back of hand.

“Aaj chhole bhature bane hain ghar mein....four would be enough ki aur thoosegi"

“tere jaisi bhukkad nahi hoon...that would be tad enough”

“Geet, what happened? Beta.”

Rano was buying vegetables from vendor. When she had seen her daughter walking lifelessly. Teary. Millions of presentiment crossed her mind. Rano left the basket she was holding and followed her daughter inside.

“why are you crying bachche?” Geet hugged her mother. It worried her. She prayed and chided herself for horrendous thoughts passing her. She rubbed her back trying to soothe both their self.

“Where is your scooty beta?” rano cupped face “Do..es....does someone.. did bad to you?”

Geet shook her head still clutching her.

“Phir kya hua beta bolo kuch"
