CHAPTER 6

ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS . Any royal titles, MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, MILITARY PROCEDURES, MILITARY TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. There also maybe some HINDU MYTHOLOGICAL references but they all are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. If any resemblance to persons, places, events and stories it is purely coincidental! It has FANTASY (totally untrue) undertones to it. KINDLY READ IF ONLY COMFORTABLE!!!

Maan was inside the main combat area. The young man and Maan bowed in respect before the start of fight. When the young man raised his head Maan first time saw his opponent’s beautiful hazel coloured eyes.

Then it was announced on the mic, “SAVADHAAN” (Attention/ON GAURD!) and the battle began.

Maan defended all the attacks made on him thereby stripping him of his upper attire and leaving his bare taut muscular body for everyone to see.

Then Maan attacked the young man, and the young man defended himself. The people present in arena were spellbound at the superb sword fighting going on. How long the sword fight continued no one knew resulting in Maharani and Princesses also coming in the arena. Maharani Bhagyashree whispered to her husband, “Maharaj, abb yeh pratiyogita sheeghr samapt kijiye agar kaheen………” (Maharaj, please quickly announce the end of the fight. What if.....)

The crowd gasped as Maan’s final blow came with his sword passing near the youngman’s face slicing through the cloth mask on the young man’s face bringing an in drawn of breath from all gathered in the arena. Luckily the youngman was standing in such a manner that only Maan, Maharaj, Maharani and Rajkumaris were able to see the young man’s face no one else.

Maan said in sotto voice to his opponent, “Aap jaayiye aur kapade badalkar aayiye hum yahaan sambhalte hain.” (Please go and change your clothes while I handle here.) Maan said taking a graceful bow bring a roaring applause while the young man ran towards the arena’s changing rooms.

Within five minutes the young man returned admist roaring applause. Although the young man’s physique was slim and non muscular but he was not the same young man Maan fought with. As, Maan had fought and won in “talwarbaazi” from none another than RAJKUMARI RAJLAKSHMI GEETESHWARI RANAWAT! Maan had come to know the identity of his opponent the moment his kurta had been stripped off his upper body leaving his upper body bare with the sharp cuts of his opponent and his opponent had turned red in face at the sight of his bare upper body. Therefore, the rest of the sword fighting for Maan was more in jest rather than in seriousness. Because if Maan had been seriously fighting, Rajkumari Rajlakshmi would be lying seriously injured at his feet by now.

After half an hour, Rajkumari Rajlakshmi dressed as herself (but her face was covered in a long net dupatta) and stood near Maharaj Gajendra,

he announced, “Kshitija padhare huye sab hi Maharaj, Yuvraj aur Rajkumaron ko hum haat jodh kar dhaniyavaad kehte hain Kshitija aane ke liye aur Rajkumari Rajlakshmi Geeteshwari Ranawat ke swayamvar mein bhaag lene ke liye. Aap sab upasthith jan ne swayam dekha hai ki iss talwarbaazi ke vijayeta kaun hain. Woh hain YUVRAJ MADHAV RAO RAJSINGHANIA (Maan Singh Khurana).” (I deepest thanks to all the Kings, Crown Princes and Princes who have come to the Kingdom of Kshitija for Princess Rajlakshmi Geeteshwari Ranawat’s swayamvar. As you all have witnessed CROWN PRINCE MADHAV RAO RAJSINGHANIA is the winner of this round.) There was a thunderous applause. Then Maharaj Gajendra continued, “Hummein yeh kuch samay poorv battaya gaya hai ki yahaan ikatrith sab Maharaj, Yuvraj aur Rajkumaron ko naqsha padhne ki kushalta haasil nahi hai athva woh sab Architect bhi nahi hain. Iss trutti (error) ke liye hum aap sabse se kshama prarthi. Kyunki iss vishaye par naa toh humne aur naa hi humare mantriyon ne poorv dhayaan diya thaa, iss liye humne abb ek aur pariksha rakkhi hai aur woh hai pistaul chalane ki. Iss liye vijayeta woh hoga jo inn teeno parikshaon mein se kamse kam do parikshaon mein “vijayi” hone. Kal pratah pistaul chalane ki pariksha aarambh hogi.” (I was only informed sometime back that among gathered Kings, Crown Princes and Princes all may not be able to read blueprints or be a qualified Architect. I apologise to you all with folded hands for this error on my part and also the part of my Ministers. Hence, we have included one more test which of pistol shooting. Hence now whoever wins at least two tests out of three will be considered for the final swayamvar. Tomorrow early morning will commence the test of pistol shooting.)

After the sword fight, there was lunch served to all Kings, Princes and nobility. Maan did not want to divulge his shooting skill in the shooting gallery as his “Commando” identity has to be kept hidden in front of defence personnel as well as civilians. Hence, Maan decided to stroll in the royal gardens. Maan was aware that he has won the first two rounds of challenge but the last round was still pending and he was feeling a little insecure not about pistol shooting but due to some mishap (Maan’s sixth sense) Maan looses his love, Geet (Rajkumari Rajlakshmi). He was still in his thought when without realising he reached near Rajkumari Rajlakshmi’s room. He was surprised to find her arguing, “Kamla, yeh tumhare haat ko aur Jugni ke kandhe ko kya hua? Tum par kisne vaar kiya?” (Kamla, what happened to your hand and Jugni’s shoulder? Who has attacked you?)

“Woh Rajkunwari sa....... Rajkunwari sa.......” (Prin.....cess...... Prin.....cess......)

“KAMLA!!!” Rajkumari Rajeshwari raised her voice surprising all the domestic staff present.

“Humare pati ne.” (My husband.)

“KYUN?” (WHY?)

“Woh Jugni ko maarna chawe se kyunki Jugni chori se. Mhare mard chora chawe se.” (He wants to murder Jugni as she is a girl baby. He wants a boy baby.)

“Toh kya hua? Yeh toh tumhara pehla baccha hai. Agla baccha ladka ho jaayega!” (So what? She is your first child. Your second child can be a boy!)

“Hukum, manne unhein bahut samjhaya par woh krodh mein maari chori pe goli chalayi. Manne chori ke praan bacha kar yahaan le aayi.” (Your Highness, I tried explaining to him a number of times but today in anger he fired with pistol in my baby’s direction. Please save my baby.)

“Theek hai. Jyoti inn dono ko andar le jaao. Inke zakhm par marham-patti karo; inke kapade badalo; aur inhein kuch khilao-pilao.” (Alright. Jyoti take her inside. Clean the mother and child’s wound; change their clothes; and give them food to eat.)

“Ji Hukum.” (Yes Your Highness.)

Maan had just turned to go back to his room when he heard an angry male voice. “RAJKUMARI SA........ RAJKUMARI SA........MANNE MHARI BEENDANI AUR CHORI WAPIS CHAHIYE.” (PRIN...CESS..... PRIN...CESS.....GIVE ME BACK MY WIFE AND MY CHILD.)

“Bhawar Singhji, abhi aap krodh mein hain, hum kal aapse baat karenge.” (Bhawar Singh we are angry today. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.) Rajkumari Rajlakshmi answered in a calm but firm voice.

“Naa, mhare ko mhari lugai aur chori abhi chahiye. Unhei liya bina manne yahaan se kabhi naa jaaon.” (No I want my wife and child right now. I will not leave without them.) Bhawar Singh said aggressive voice alarming male and female gaurds. Few male gaurds went near Bhawar Singh and tried to reason with him but he refused to listen. Suddenly he took out a pistol from his clothes and was aiming at Rajkumari Rajlakshmi, “Agar mhare ko mhari lugai aur chori naa mili toh tanne bhi apne maa-baap ke saath rehne ka koi haq naa se.” (If you don’t hand me over my wife and child, then you also have no right to stay with your parents.) Saying this Bhawar Singh’s fingers encircled the trigger of the pistol but before he could pull the trigger there was a shot fired making Bhawar Singh topple down. The bullet had hit Bhawar Singh’s leg. The bullet had been fired by Yuvraj Madhav Rao Rajsinghania.

But as Bhawar Singh’s finger were still on the trigger it got pressed as a reflex the pistol fired and Rajkumari Rajlakshmi was hit. Princess would have collapsed on the floor had Yuvraj Madhav Rao had not caught her on time. He carried the unconscious Princess in his arms and followed Princess’ maids to her chamber.

This incident was seen by Diwan Vidyasagar Bhardwaj and he rushed to tell the King and Queen of Kshitija about it. After making Rajkumari Rajlakshmi lie on the bed in her sisters, maids and ladies in waiting’s care Yuvraj Madhav Rao left for his room. Although his heart wanted to stay with his love but he knew that royal protocol (rajsi maryada) demands him to leave. Therefore, the prestige of Ramgarh trampled on the heart of a lover and Maan left with heavy heart for his bed chamber.

Maaneet had sword fight where Maan won but he couldn’t show his real sword fighting skills.
