Chapter 5
'Sam grab the door, will you?' Geet shouted from the kitchen feeling immensely overwhelmed with the steam coming out from the boiling pasta, kitchen wasn't her forte however with Sameera working full-time and with Geet recovering from a heart-break and overcoming the stress called LIFE, she thought to best utilise a little effort and maybe discard a lot of pent up frustration. Obviously, some of it was also caused by 'Baby Daddy' as Sam refers him; it had been just over week and yet Maan hadn't gotten back. Geet was almost certain she would never hear from the father of her baby; by no means would a man with a head willingly be involved in her mess.
'Sam' Geet screamed loudly as the loud knock persisted, trying very hard to focus on chomping down the onion. Kitchen was to be her stress-buster, yeah right! She felt her nerves bundling in synchronized jabs, somehow increasing the level of frustration she felt tying her anger on a shot leach.
'Oh' Sam screeched shutting the door and then reopened after fixing her wayward blonde hair, leaning ardently across the red door as if to model for some fashion magazine.
'Hi baby daddy' she greeted sweetly, maybe rather too sweetly as he pushed back falling to the step behind in stupor. His face was devoid of any recognition however the twitching of his brows showed his displeasure.
'If my nephew is as hot as you, I should be so lucky' Sam continued dreamily, freaking Maan out with the pure looks of passion she threw his way
'Is Geet here?' he asked soon as the awkward silence sparked closer to weird. When all she did was watch him, he moved a little closer trying to look through the little gap that was open. Dealing with strangers made him nervous hence he moved back almost immediately. Especially strangers as such who look for opportunities to throw themselves at him, not that he wasn't used to certain behaviours from the opposite gender however regardless he still felt uncomfortable and uneasy.
'GEET hot baby daddy is here' Sam shouted with a teasing smile turning her head towards the kitchen which was situated at the end of the passageway. The quicksand that had enveloped him a few seconds ago, dispersed with the intrusion of a sweet smiling Geet. The initial shock and surprise wasn't missed from her face either.
'Hey' Geet called in a shaky smile busy wiping her hands on the semi-strained dishcloth tugged in her apron pocket.
'Can you give us a moment Sam?' Geet asked with every ounce of patience she had felt, living with Sam wasn't easy however she couldn't devalue a friend who was trying her best to make sure she was ok but at times like this, it was frustrating. Sam was like the most excitable individual she met, and the opposite gender was a volatile weakness. But at the end of the day: Sam was her best friend since Nursery. To be frank maybe one of her only friends.
'Fine' Sam moaned like a child and Geet directed a sorry smile at Maan who was shown the large living room. While the two girls got into an expression speech; he focused on the interiors. From the outside, he knew Geet was from a well-off family. Her family home was a detached 3-storey in the remote areas of Kensington. The rich black gates, trimmed hedges and the huge pebbled driveway provided a wealthy picture, however the inside was even grander; if that was even possible. The passageway looked up to a diamond chandelier and the floor housed a marbled tile which shone in bright. The living room itself was wide and open, the soft off-white sofa settled in the midst of an equally impressive coffee table. Everything oozed of her riches from the ornament cabinet, to the proud fireplace, and even the large fish tank; making it all the more uncomfortable for him.
'So' Geet started with a soft voice seeing how he is lost in viewing her house, it was then Maan had adjusted back to Geet noticing how the door was left slightly ajar, maybe her creepy friend stood at the other end.
'I'm sorry, I know its unexpected' he attempted half-talk as Geet instantly cut him off saying how she was glad he came anyway, seen as she wasn't expecting to see him ever again. She had planned not to beg him for help again, after all Geet had her own set of rules and not to forget an image to protect.
'Well I... erm...I' he stammered looking for the right words, he had planned a speech however the look of the small cute woman and the magnanimous of the house levelled down his courage
'Will you do it then?' she asked edging on an answer favouring her outcome, which she was accustomed to having things her way being the only child decently wealthy parents
'Yes ... Yes I'll be the legal father of the baby and your civil partner' he admitted with closed eyes trying to gain the strength to answer the question that would follow
'OMG' they both heard the scream from outside and rushed footsteps followed, as if she was running away from being caught nosing
'Thank you, thank you so much. You don't know how much this means' Geet teared forwarding a delicate smile his way as he fell back on the sofa finally releasing a sigh
'But I don't want to take undue advantage of you, I mean I am so so so grateful but has your girlfriend agreed. I don't want any problems in your relationship because of me' Geet pushed forward from her sofa to seat beside him of the large L shaped sofa however still mindful enough to leave enough room between them.
'You don't need to worry about thar, since it's over' he heard her shocked grasp and following was another WOOHOOO' from the door making both of them giggle at her friend's ability to see light in such a situation; she was definitely a little cookoo.
'Are you sure about this?' Geet asked again and seeing him node in positive, she walked near the large window and pulled out her mobile from the apron pocket.
'Hi Rana, could you come here and yes please bring the required papers' she smiled after what felt like ages again turning his way mouthing a 'You sure?' to which he smiled and for the first time Geet realised how his soft black eyes sparkled in the otherwise very dull background of her living room. Something about him froze her heart-beat but was quickly revived with Rana's encroaching voice.
Next: I know I said Maan's GF and he will be shown in this part but now in the next instead.
Sorry
