Chapter 3

"GEET" Maan yelled angrily.

"What? What?" she ran out of the washroom hurriedly, she stopped and started laughing seeing Maan on the floor.

"You're finding this funny?" he hissed ignoring the pain shooting on his foot and stood angrily storming towards her.

"Dekho, you fell and how is it my fault?"

"Who left the gigantic suitcase in the middle of the room?" he pointed.

"It's gigantic na? Dikh nahi sakte kya? Glasses doon?"

Geet continued with her tirade, only to be stopped when Maan clamped his hand against her mouth glaring at her.

"Chup! Bilkul chup, ek aur awaaz nahi" he told her firmly then removed his hand. "It’s clear you’re not happy and nor am I with this wedding".

"What’s there to be happy? Meri shaadi saru se ki..."

"Didn’t I say to shut up?" he glared at her.

Geet hmphed and waited.

"Dadima isn’t well, she’s going to stress and continue to worry if she sees us fighting like this so we’re going to have to act like everything is okay. We’re going to mind our own business, you do whatever you want and live however and I’m going to do the same. We’re going to have to continue sharing this bed because Dadima is going to stress if I was to send you to a different room and she’d know something is up" he relayed. "Are you able to act maturely?"

"I’ll agree to playing along, but you can’t call me jungli anymore".

"Fine, same goes for saru" he replied to which she agreed.

With that agreement, Maan headed into the washroom to get ready and Geet went downstairs deciding to see dadima.

Naintara smiled standing up when Geet joined them downstairs, "Hey Geet, you sleep okay?" she asked.

"Um yeah" Geet nodded.

"Veerji didn’t keep you up all night did he?" she smiled teasingly.

Geet squirmed uncomfortably and looked around, "Dadima kahan hain?"

Just then Dadima walked out of the kitchen and smiled, she approached Geet and patted her cheek gently.

"Naintara, tell Nakul to set the table. Maan bhi aate honge breakfast is liye" she told her and looked at Geet. "Maan ko office jana hoga aaj, isi liye humne aaj subah appointment banayi hai aapke college transfer ke liye" she explained, Geet was elated. She didn’t even have to bring the subject up and Dadima as promised is getting the transfer done.

As Maan dressed he mused over his behaviour with Geet, this was not the guy he was at all. He tended to avoid conflicts with women, he barely paid any mind to them then what was it about this girl that just irritated him.

He was going to avoid the woman, little did he think it was going to be impossible considering she was sharing the bedroom with him.

"Maan, breakfast" dadima called out to him as he advanced towards the front door.

"Dadima, I'm running late today. I'll grab something at the office" he told her and excused himself.

"Iss ladka ka kya karun?" Dadima sighed heavily, she looked at Geet who'd looked on curiously. "Maan zyada tar breakfast ke liye bhi nahi rukta, humesha office, office. Socha shaadi ke baad ghar mein todha waqt bitaiyenge" she sadly relayed.

Geet reached over squeezing dadima's hand offering some sort of reassurance, she could tell the elderly woman was saddened.

After they'd eaten breakfast, dadima, Geet and Naintara went for the college appointment.

"Thank you so much, dadima" Geet thanked her profusely coming outside of the appointment feeling excited with the news of being accepted in the college. She was almost jumping excitedly.

"You're very welcome" Dadima grinned happily seeing her bubbling excitement.

"Dadima, it would be good to get some different clothes for Geet. Salwar kameez mein loug usse tease kar sakte hain" Naintara suggested.

Dadima agreed and their next stop was the shopping centre.

"Mere paas kapde hain" Geet tried to reason seeing them picking out different dresses, kurtis, jeans. "I brought some of my jeans and stuff over" she added.

"It doesn’t hurt to have more" Naintara smiled and grabbed a blouse holding it in front of Geet, "this will look nice with the skinny jeans".

"Aur kuch chahiye, bete?" Dadima asked as the cashier rung up their purchases, Geet shook her head instantly. She had thanked Naintara and Dadima on their drive home, she hadn't expected such warmth from them considering she had not been married into their family more than 24 hours yet. She closed her eyes thanking her parents, not that she would tell them in front of her face because knowing her parents they'd surely love to rub her face in it and tease her.

It had been a month of their wedding, Geet and Maan had fallen into routine.

Maan was up before her, he'd be ready and be out of the room before she'd wake up. And Geet would be asleep by the time he returned home, dadima grew concerned as she had noticed a pattern of Maan leaving and not returning home early.

She had not expected him to become even more busier, she had discussed her concerns with Naintara.

"Dadima, aap veerji ko jante haina? Woh kaam ke siwai kuch aur dekhte hi nahi" she answered. "Geet bhi kafi busy hogayi hai" she added.

"Unka break kab hoga college se?" dadima queried.

"Pata nahi, jab Geet aayegi, main puch sakti hoon. Lekin kyun?"

Dadima then explained in great detail of what she planned.

"Dadima aap bhi na…" Naintara laughed and high fived her.

This is going to be an SS for now, I don't know if I want to make it an FF but I will see.
