Who all think Amaal singing every episode is ANNOYING!
"Meers I love you but I am not bloody fasting next year" Vikrant muttered looking up ahead searching for a glimpse of the moon.
"I won't fast for you either" she replied winking at Geet.
"Meers" he turned to her scowling.
"Don't even think about giving me those look mister, this works both ways" she nudges him.
"Couldn't you be more like bhabhi? Look how awesome my bhabhi is, she's fasting without complaints. Is she complaining that Maan bhai isn't?"
"Don't make me break your nose" Meera threatened. "Forget breaking your nose..." she inches her head closer. "I'm going to divorce you"
"Meers!" Vikrant gaped at her completely shocked. "How could you say such a thing?"
"Dear God! Here comes the emotional fool..." she murmured rolling her eyes.
"Do you realise what you're saying? Those vows we took... those words we said to each other... every moment we share..."
"Shut the f**k up man" Amelia intervened joining them on the terrace, slowly all the women trickled up onto the terrace as it was almost time for the moon to appear.
"Leave him alone" Geet poked her on her stomach.
"Ouch" Amelia glared.
"That shouldn't even hurt, stop being dramatic" Geet rolled her eyes. "What are you doing here anyways? You're not fasting" she pointed out.
"I just want to see who got what presents" Amelia shrugged. "What did you get for Meera?" she turned to Vikrant.
"None of your business" Vikrant looked away angrily.
"Aww is my baby angry with me?"
Vikrant flipped her his middle finger, his smug smile morphed into a frown when someone caught his finger and bent it down.
"Don't you be embarrassing dadima in front of all them, she didn't bring us up like this" Maan muttered narrowing his eyes at his young brother.
"Sorry bro" Vikrant sighed feeling guilty and ashamed, he glanced over his shoulder feeling a little relieved that the women were more concerned looking for the moon.
Maan released Vikrant's finger and went to stand beside Geet.
"The moon's there" Araina called out garnering everyone's attention. Whilst they'd been waiting patiently, they busied themselves into chattering away with others trying to ignore their grumbling stomachs.
Geet looked up and beamed feeling relieved, though she hadn't complained verbally she was feeling terribly hungry. She glanced over at dadima who joined her side and explained what she should do. Geet did remember last year however it was awkward because the husband she fasted for was the man who hated her presence.
Last year she was feeling awkward, nervous, scared and sad. She didn't remember much from last year and this year she wanted to do it correctly for herself and her husband.
Geet's eyes stayed on Maan's as he offered her water, she remembered back to last year and recalled on how she thought it was impossible for this man to be her husband, her companion, her lover, her friend, her everything... she sipped swallowing thickly. Tears glistened in her eyes, last year they glistened for the feeling of loneliness that lingered within her and this year... The tears are for the love and happiness she has in her life.
Maan felt relief and grateful that the day was over, he didn't expect Geet to fast for him. In fact, had it been his choice, he wouldn't have wanted her to. Geet might not have voiced her hunger but he noticed it in the smallest gestures of hers her hand rubbing her stomach, her continuous biting of her lower lip, her licking at her lips when they'd felt too dry, her shy glances towards the windows and clocks. He grabbed a sweet offering it to her which she'd taken a generous bite out of.
Maan lifted his brows questioningly seeing her tears.
Geet cleared her throat shaking her head.
You sure? He mouthed feeling concerned.
Geet nodded silently and mouthed I love you to reassure him.
Always he smiled.
"Oh wow!" Amelia squealed from the other end.
Everyone turned their heads curiously and grinned when Vikrant presented Meera with a family heirloom bangles which was left for his to be wife.
"Main aati hoon" Dadima informed Maan and Geet then walked towards Meera and Vikrant.
"How do you like it?" Dadima asked touching Meera's wrist, she smiled proudly at Vikrant then looked at Meera.
"It's beautiful dadima, thank you" Meera replied wrapping her arms around dadima tightly. "Thank you for making me a part of your family" she whispered so softly that no one else would've heard her.
"I'm proud to have you bete" Dadima answered back pulling away and pressing a light kiss to her forehead.
"What did you get Geet?" Amelia called out from where she stood.
Geet scowled at Amelia and looked down shyly.
Maan cursed Geet's crazy friend for the attention that was now on them, dadima looked around and looked at Maan.
"Amelia what's it to you?" Meera intervened before anyone else could speak up. She quickly turned to dadima. "Dadima can we go downstairs now? I am starving!"
"Me too" Vikrant piped in.
Dadima chuckled feeling lightened by the change of subject and nodded. "Chalo sab. Khana tanda ho jayega..." she gestured. Everyone started retreating downstairs, dadima glanced over her shoulder shaking her head when Amelia approached Geet's side.
"Show me what you got" Amelia looked at Geet.
"Baby diya hai" Geet snapped. "Dikha nahi sakti"
Dadima laughed.
Maan looked at his wife utterly shocked.
"Why are you getting angry for?" Amelia scowled. "I'm telling you all now, she's pregnant. She's got the bloody hormones!"
"Why are you still here harping? Come downstairs" Meera dragged her away alongside her.
Dadima walked over looking between them. "Maan bete Geet mazak kar rahi hai. Muh band kar lijiye" she nudged his chin playfully.
"You're just as crazy as your friend Geet" Maan murmured feeling relieved now that it was only them three upstairs.
"Aap..." Geet frowned. "Dadima..."
"Maan she saved you from her friend and saved you from embarrassing yourself"
"How was I going to embarrass myself?" Maan questioned narrowing his eyes.
"I'm guessing you forgot Geet's present this year as well"
"I'm not stupid" Maan replied firmly.
"Oh really Mr Khurana? Hadn't it been for me, you would have remained stupid and let my beautiful bahu slip from your fingers" she countered.
"Dadima" Maan scowled.
"Maan Khurana" she mocked.
Geet looked between them both amused, seeing Maan and dadima bonding was definitely a sight of amusement.
"Well...?"
"Well what dadima?" Maan raised his brows.
"Did you get my bahu something?"
"That is none of your business" he tossed.
"Bete that means he's stupid and didn't get you anything" dadima looked at Geet. "This is from me" dadima held out a long velvet box.
"Dadima... you shouldn't have" Geet sighed. "Aap jante hai ke main yeh sab..."
"It's not as big as last year, I promise" dadima cut her off.
"It's not that dadima, I don't wear much jewellery..."
"It's not gold, well it's white gold..."
"Geet just take it" Maan touched her shoulder.
Geet took the velvet box and threw her arms around dadima. "Thank you, I really really appreciate it"
"I know you do bete" Dadima patted her cheek. "Now open it and see"
Geet opened it and gasped at the beautiful diamond bracelet. "It's stunning" she smiled brightly. "It's so beautiful" she touched the delicate bracelet and looked curiously when she noticed the engraving on the other side. She turned it over and read My bright star Your dadima.
Geet glanced up at her. "Dadima... I... Thank you" she repeated unable to form words properly, she loved the gift and the words engraved touched her heart. "I love it, I love you" she wrapped her arms around dadima once again and pressed a kiss to her cheek.
"Maan bete, put it on her" dadima gestured.
"Abhi nahi, I'd like to keep this for a special occasion" Geet informed. "I'll be having lots of opportunities to wear it in a few days" she winked.
Dadima laughed and nodded. "Let's go downstairs now seeing as Maan hasn't got you anything... useless"
"Whatever" Maan ignored dadima and walked alongside them as they joined everyone downstairs.
"Everyone else fasted but those two and they're eating like hungry hyenas" Vikrant murmured looking at Amelia and Araina.
"What did you just say?" Araina scowled.
"Asshole" Amelia hissed.
"What's he said wrong?" Karan quizzed and smirked. "He only said the truth"
"And what about you?" Araina scowled. "I don't see why you're even eating either"
"I'm not eating like I've been starved like you" Karan countered.
"Mama! Tell bhai" Araina tugged on her mother's saree.
"Araina tu baby hai kya?" Geet cut in.
"Bhabhi tell bhai..." Araina frowned.
"All of you stop, Karan, Vikrant..." Maan shot them a glare.
"Why the hell are you always siding with them for?" Karan narrowed his eyes.
"I'm not siding with anyone, I'm simply telling you all to stop arguing. Enjoy the night, you're bloody embarrassing dadima. You're not kids anymore" he explained.
"Now he's a philosopher..." Karan murmured.
"Don't make me break your nose Karan because I will break it like last time" Maan responded nonchalantly.
"I feel sorry for you bhabhi, you've married a bully" Vikrant looked at Geet in pity.
"Meera I feel for you, you've married a clown a not so funny clown" Geet mimicked.
Maan hid his smile though he very much enjoyed Geet being herself in front of him with her friends, he'd rarely seen her like this because she'd always been too shy or was always trying to get him to speak and join in with them. Whilst the others chuckled Vikrant scowled and Geet smirked.
"Is a baby my gift?" Maan slipped his arms around Geet looking at her reflection in the mirror. Geet rolled her eyes noting he was teasing her.
"Don't be listening to Amelia and her crap" she nudged him, he simply smiled into her neck and dropped a soft kiss to her nape.
Geet closed her eyes tilting her head back.
"Was today hard?" he asked placing his hand on her shoulder and gently rubbed.
"It was okay, I just forgot how hungry I'd gotten last year" she murmured enjoying the soothing massage. "Where did you learn to massage?" she asked softly.
"Dadima" he pressed a kiss to her temple. "Few years ago, she'd suffered from this tightness in her back" he started. "Our family doctor showed me and Vikrant how to massage her back to stop the tightness, stress affected dadima a lot. The tightness could have led to muscle damage and some other things if we didn't massage her properly..." he trailed off remembering the tough years that dadima had been through.
"You're good" Geet murmured opening her eyes and looking at his reflection. "Does she still get them?"
"Not as much as before, I have her booked in with a masseuse every two weeks on a Sunday" he replied.
"Oh is that where dadima goes?"
"Why? Where did you think she goes?"
"I thought she went church or something" Geet shrugged.
Maan chuckled. "Only you'd come up with such things..." he pressed his fingers firmly into her shoulderblades.
"I feel sleepy now" she muttered ignoring his teasing comment.
"Before you sleep..." Maan stepped back opening the drawer then returned and stood behind her. "This..."
Geet glanced over her shoulder noting Maan seemed unsure and a little hesitant. She turned around noticing the gift bag in his hand.
"I... This is from me" he cleared his throat.
"You didn't have to" Geet offered a shy smile.
"I wanted to" he replied lowering his head and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "You've gone all day hungry for me, this is the very least I could do"
Geet placed the gift bag on the dressing table and pulled the boxes out, there were 3 boxes and an envelope. "Yeh... this is too much" she looked up at him.
"Just open it" he curled his arm around her waist pressing a kiss to her temple. "This is nothing compared to you starving for me"
Geet picked up the small box first, she glanced at Maan who seemed curious. She popped open the box and inside lay the most beautiful set of anklets she'd seen.
Recognition hit her the anklet was a tresor paris white gold plated efifile argent crystal anklet, this must've cost him an arm and a leg she thought to herself.
"Maan this is expensive" she looked at him.
"Money again?" he lifted his brows. "Money isn't worth anything if I don't have someone to share it with"
Geet wanted to reply, give him her reasons but she has done it many times. And right now she doesn't want to be arguing with him over this issue, she's going to let it slide tonight but when they bring it up again she's going to give him her views and make sure he understands.
"Its very beautiful" she complimented. "I like that you remember I love payals" she smiled.
"Will you wear it?" he asked.
She nodded lifting her foot and placing it on the small dressing chair, Maan took the anklet from the box and slipped it on for her.
"It's so gorgeous" Geet gushed brushing her fingers over the small crystals.
She opened the next two gifts, one was a matching sapphire and diamond cushion halo white gold pendant to her blue nile sapphire ring which she has worn religiously since Maan had given it to her and the other box contained blue nile sapphire and micropave diamond earrings which he'd also gotten matched with her ring and pendant.
"I know you don't like fancy jewellery so this is just something small" he took the earrings and replaced the ones she was wearing with the small diamonds.
"Small?" Geet chuckled turning around in his embrace and slipping her arms around his waist. "I love it, it's expensive but it's really gorgeous"
"I'm glad you like them... you've not opened the envelope yet" he reminded.
"Anything else?" she giggled taking the envelope he held out.
Geet looked at him peculiarly as she opened the envelope, he seemed curiously excited?
She stared in surprise for a moment as she read it silently...
"Geet..." Maan tapped her shoulder when she didn't seem to respond. She continued to stare down at the envelope.
"You're making me a little concerned now..." Maan chuckled.
Geet slowly lifted her eyes, Maan stared at her alarmed seeing tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong? Didn't you like it?" he questioned in concern holding her shoulders.
"No... I..." she chuckled just as a tear slipped down her cheeks. "I love this" she sniffed and looked down at the envelope she held in her hands.
She couldn't believe he'd sent in an application for her provisional license and booked her in for driving sessions that too for 30 1 hour sessions.
She was going to learn to drive! A wish that had remained unfulfilled for a very very long time.
Another desire that her husband fulfilled.
She lurched onto her toes and wrapped both her arms around his neck, Maan reciprocated instantly lifting her off her feet as he pulled her against his chest.
He tightened his arms and squeezed reassuringly as he listened to her soft sniffles and felt her wet tears falling onto his shoulder.
"I've wanted this for 3 years" Geet murmured against the side of his neck. "Daarji never let me... and I couldn't even sneak in lessons if I tried..." she slowly pulled away cradling his cheek. He never once released her, he simply held up suspended in the air in his arms.
Geet pressed her forehead against his closing her eyes. "Thank you for this... it means so much to me" she murmured hoarsely. "No gift or amount of money compares to this..." she lifted her head looking down at him. "Sometimes I feel this... us... is just an imagination of mine. Nobody has it this good... nobody has it this perfect..."
"Nobody is perfect, not me or you nor our relationship" he replied. "But we work with our flaws, we understand each other... we accept each other as we are that's why we've got it perfect" he pressed his lips to her eyes kissing away the tears.
"I'm so happy" Geet giggled with tears still cascading down her cheeks. She looked at the envelope and back at him. "It means so much..."
"I wish I hadn't delayed it till now if I knew it meant a lot" Maan answered honestly. "I'd not offered booking lessons because I wanted to give it you as a present..."
"You had this planned for a long time?" she asked.
"I wanted to make up for everything I missed out on the first time" he smiled. "It wouldn't erase my mistakes nor do I expect it but I do want you to remember these ones..."
"Our first year doesn't count" Geet brushed her finger across his jaw. "We started a new year together on our anniversary remember. That was our new beginning"
He nodded silently smiling softly, Geet leaned forward pressing her lips against his taking the initative this time and telling her husband through her small kisses that she appreciated him.
