Chapter 5 : In His Arms
Geet's smile expunged in vapor witnessing such a livid Maan. She didn't really understand what was happening or why Maan voluntarily dragging her with him!! So she wriggled a little, stopping Maan exactly at the center while Aayan was coming towards them with an apologetic expression.
Just as she was about to open her mouth she noticed an unknown pretty lady stopped Aayan and whispered something inside his ears!! Geet didn't pay much heed until Aayan's expression changed drastically!
The most interesting thing is when Maan followed Geet's gaze and noticed that lady!! More than Aayan, Maan's face went pale!! All white!! And that was vividly noticed by an intoxicated yet curious Geet!!
Both of them saw that lady dragging Aayan's hand and taking him to some other corner, Aayan also seems to hurriedly follow that female and they soon vanished outside the party hall!!
Sweat was forming up on Maan's forehead...
Why is he so tensed all of a sudden??
Scrunching her eyebrows Geet was observing Maan and thought to question him after giving much thought to this!!
"Maaan!! Due to heavy music, she had to shout but that didn't work so a curious Geet tapped her index finger at Maan's shoulder!!
"Haannh?? She marked Maan getting startled tremendously and even when looking at her there is nervousness playing inside his eyes!!
"Woh ladki kaun thi?? Kyun... Aayan ko aiss...Aise leke gayi bahar?? Aur aapko kiya huwa hain?? Her eyebrows furrowed amidst the sudden confusion!!
"Umm...Woh kuch nahin... Maan evaded her query without a blink!!
"Why are you dodging my questions?? Do you know her?? Who is she?? And why did you hit that creepo... But she too is tactful and showered him with direct questions!!
"Geet...Ye sawal tumhe Aayan se puchna chahiye...Tum bhi wahi ho main jaha hoon, so mujhe kaise pata hoga?? He sounded quite cold and dusty!!
"Aapne meri glass bhi le liya...Mujhe abhi...chahiye... drink...Aur uff aapka gussa kitna darawani hain... She said something more but he couldn't hear due to the loudness taking lead, "Kiyaaa??? Can't hear it...You need what??? water?? As he screamed offering his ears towards her, an innocent Geet neared even closer, increasing his body heat!!
All his anger, irritation, apprehension melted away immediately. But when and how??? What is this girl doing to him exactly!!! When did he enjoy someone's company that much??
Grabbing Maan's biceps Geet moved her lips near his earlobes, "I wanna eat stars...Bhukh lagi hain...Yahan se...Nikal na hain... Maan felt every bit of tingle she caused!!
"Kiya khana hain??? Turning his head he gawked at the tipsy Geet thinking he might have misheard and she flashed her pearls gesturing him towards the roof, "Stars...Woh dekho na...Upar...So bright...So yummy...Mom ne cook ki hain...woh bhi toh stars ke sath rehti hain naa... Those disco balls were definitely not stars. And that cursed spotlight flashed exactly on them!!!!!
"Oh, God... Maan chuckled at her plight while she cutely mumbled in his ears, "God nahin Geet...Abhi dooo naa...Mujhe bhukh lag rahi hain...Aur kitna garmi bhi...
Main ye utar doon... His eyes widened with shock as she literally started pulling her outfit!! Please don't start striping now!!!
"Jala mujhe rahi ho aur tumhe garmi lag rahi hain...Kiya karoon main iss pagal ladki ka...Pata nahin maa kaha hain...I need to take Geet somewhere safe before she is fully out of her wits...Adhe ghante mein meri jo halat ki hain iske baad main khud girne lagunga!!! His eyes wandered everywhere desperately as the irritation due to the spotlight being of them increased.
And there, that crazy cuteness was searching for buttons on her outfit near her bosom. Gathering some courage a shy Maan slapped her hands and placed them back on his shoulder.
Marking all her madness Maan closed his eyes briefly and then obstructing Geet's drunk movements, he lifted her up in the air at the excuse of dance and tried to find for a quick exit before the effects of intoxicants intensify with time.
As they were headed outside both Maaneet saw Aayan was rushing back inside in search of someone, horror was playing inside his face!!
Why won't that be?? His whole world just turned upside down now with the recent disclosure!! He has to talk with Savitri now!! Only she can solve this whole thing!!
There she is!! With a huge sigh of relief, Aayan paced his feet and reached the second floor to his grandmother!!
"Daadi maa...Mujhe aapse abhi isiwaqt bohot jaroori baat karni hain...Daadaji srif aap dono ke sunege... The urgency inside Aayan's voice startled Savitri a little, "Aayan...Beta...Kiya huwa?? Itna haanf kyun rahe ho...Areh huwa kiya hain?? That soft smile was soon wiped off from Savitri's face by Aayan's desperate hold on her wrist!!
"Aap abhi mere saath chaliye please... Talking in a blazing speed Aayan literally dragged a stunned Savitri with him, "Maa aur Choti Maa...Aap bhi... He took the ladies with him and they disappeared outside!!
Strangely, Maaneet who were observing everything in silence could understand the significance of that moment when the sangeet got wrapped by the nervous announcement by Savitri followed by all the family members of Khurana's and Mohindar were being called for an important meeting at the Khurana Mansion!!
"Maa aap kyun mujhe aise bar bar mafi mangke sharminda kar rahi hain...Aagar itni hi koi complicated wajah hain toh mujhe janna bhi nahin...Par agar Geet se koi galti ho gayi hain toh I am sorry...Bin maa ki bacchi hain naa...Aur shayad aaj usne galti se drink peeli hain, aur isilye thoda zayada dance kar liya warna woh waisi nahin hain...Kiya kisi guest ne kuch kaha hain?? Maan beta ji ne toh acche se mamla sambhal bhi liya...After a string of seeking forgiveness Savitri was still out of words as in how to divulge!!
"Beta..Geet se koi shikayat nahin hain humko...Galati Aayan se huwi hain...Aur humse bhi...
Aaj sangeet mein ek nahin do cheeze saaf ho gayi hain...
Humein Maan ko chunna chahiye tha Geet ke liye...uski ek nahin sunna chahiye tha!! Savitri felt her blood pressure can't rise any further!!
"Shant ho jaiye Maa...Abhi bhi cheezy bigda nahin hain...
Aur Veerji, Aapki koi galti hain aisa soch bhi kaise saktey hain aap .. Darasal...huwa yun, aap toh jante hain ye bacche kaise nadan hote hain...Inse nadani aur galtiya toh hoti rehti hain..." Madhurima paused a little while arranging her words and escaping a quick gaze at the silent Preetika(Aayan's mother).
"Ek saal pehle, Aayan ne bataya woh shaadi karna chahta hain...
Sheela se..Aayan ki college se dost hain, humne socha dono ek dusre se pyaar karte hain toh jald se jald shaadi karwa dete hain...Shaadi tay hone hi wali thi par beech mein thodi si misunderstanding ho gayi thi...Aur Unka rishta tut gaya...
Hum sab toh jaante hi hain aajkal ki generation ki bacche decision breakfast se bhi jaldi karte hain... Impulsive decision lene mein toh mahir hain...Aaj break up toh kal sulah...
Toh abhi,,, woh ladki Aayan se mili hain...Uski halat thodi complicated hain...Aab aise mein ye shaadi hoga toh 3 zindegi barbad ho jayegi... Isiliye...
Veer ji... Aap ko gussa karna ho humko kosna ho toh koslo...Gunah ya Galti magar ye huwa hain humse... Madhuri narrated with patience, sounding very tender and warm!!
She doesn't want any chaos for sure!!
As their tensed situation carried forward, there Geet was clinging into Maan's chest as he was taking her towards his car to drop her home!!
"Puru puru...Ye doori kehti hain, paas merr..ee...aa jaa re...Yunhi... She was making awful bizarre sounds and was now fully tipsy to her wits!!
"Maan...!! Sensing him carrying her into his arms Geet moaned his name!!
Though he didn't want to admit yet his entire existence whispered of how he liked the sound of his name forming into her supple lips! His name feels much adorable coming out of Geet's moans!!
Astonishingly enough he craved to hear her again, placing his orbs at her innocent face finally! Not afraid of being burned anymore!!!
She looked much impeccable than the moonlight. Blameless, as she was gazing deeply towards him with a delicate pout.
"Bolo naaa...Maan... He couldn't keep his gaze intact for long as Geet started to affect him more than his own anticipation!
Tucking her inside the vehicle Maan answered, "Hmm?? Kiya? Looking at her innocent yet drowsy eyes!!
"Tussi mainu chad ke naa jao... She was sounding beyond cute!!
"Main yehi hoon...Hum ghar jaa rahe hain... As Maan was petting a wild Geet in order to tame her but making him more smitten she clutched on his right hand which was caressing her tender cheek!!
"Mujhe ghar nahinnn janaaa...Mujhe aapke paas rehna hain...Purr puruu...Gana sunao...? Saying so in an intoxicated voice Geet dragged Maan closer to her, gazing at him with her dilated pupils!
"Areh woh dekho suraj...Haww...Aaj kha ke nahin nikla naa ye suraj!! He followed her gaze to find out the pale sun she was talking about, "Kiyaah!!
"Haan dekho na kaisa tim tim kar raha hain...Unhealthy sun!! Phik phik phik... She smiled endearingly!!
Is that more offending to the moon or the sun, he wondered with his lips curved as well!!
"Geet...Haan dekho bahar...chand kaha hain mujhe dhoond ke batao?? Seeking this opportunity he tucked her in the seatbelt, "Main seat belt nahin... She threw her hands like a stubborn child as Maan patted her head lovingly, "Ssshhh... And he started driving while she was leaning on him, playing with his shirt's sleeve!!
"Maan...Mujhse kitna percent nafrat hain aapko?? Suddenly her random question popped, startling him inevitably!! He stopped the car sideways and looked back at her hair falling on his chest.
"Geet.. After staring at her innocent beautiful face Maan touched her chin, made her look at him, "Tum itni pyaari ho...Koi tumse nafrat kyun karega?? Hmm?? Zara bhi nahin hain...Chalo abhi sone ki kaushish karo... He was consoling her like a fragile child but meant each of his words!!
"Chal feku...jhootey...Isliye shaadi se inkar kiya tha na?? Aur mujhe uss joker ke throat pe infection... And the bomb was dropped, guilt overwhelmed Maan all over again!!
"I am sorry...I am really sorry about that!! Actually, just because of my profession I got a bit apprehensive... He had no faintest of an idea if even inadvertently this rejection matter has made her upset. She must never think there is any problem with her!!!
"Kiya...Profession...CA ke toh chal hi alag hain...Tabhi itna sadu ho naa aap... Maan noticed how adorable her pout is!!
Each of her expressions is filled with so much innocence it just amazed him how there is a whole another persona behind her headstrong nature!!
"CA?!! As he was about to say something, Geet shook his arm softly, "Mujhe bhookh lagi hain...
"Kiyah?? His expression was too priceless as Geet laughed loudly, "Aap na sachi mein Dhakkan ho...My...Tummy hurting... Can't you hear the gud gud...Aise mein neend kaise aati hain... She indicated towards her stomach in the cutest way he witnessed, "Umm...Just 5 minutes aur, samne hi ek restaurant hain... His face was beaming in a full heartfelt smile by then but that cute kid in Geet got all grumpy, "Mainu restaurant da khana ni khana...Mainu golgappe...khan..ee hain...Woh bhi roadside...
"Roadside?? Never...Bimar padh jaogi...Phir tumhare papa mujhe marange na... It was hard for him to put his stern voice back!!
"Papa bohot acche hain and he loves you a lottt so kabhi nahin marenge...But you would be all happy happy if I get sick...Since you hate me...woh kiya bulaya tha mujhe?? Haan brat... All of a sudden her chirpiness got shadowed behind the clouds brewing inside her hazels.
"Oops you heard that too...Geet...I am so so sooo sorry...See kaan pakad ke sorry... As her tears started spilling Maan panicked a little, "I don't hate you at all...How do I make you believe that...Please maaf kardo mujhe I might have been a bit off with you earlier...
I will find roadside golgappe for you, please don't cry... He couldn't think anything else rather than apologizing!!!
"Sorry ka spelling...Maan hates me...Mumma hates me... That's why she left me...And my nanny, Sushma...She too left...Everyone hates Geet... Her watery eyes were pricking him insanely as he took her in his warmth, wiping her endless tears!!
"Ssshhh...Never...say that again...And aise nahin rote naa... He understood one more thing that night, there is endless pain buried inside that little girl, "I miss mumma...She doesn't even come to my dreams anymore...I search for her every night...In all my memories...Why mumma...doesn't come back???
And he craved to wipe all her pain away if that's possible!!
"Please don't you leave me like her... Don't stop coming into my dreams like her...I like this dream...It feels so real... She was hugging Maan tightly and whispering endless things which made him feel sad as always guiltiest!!
With hazy eyes he was stroking Geet's face lovingly as she was murmuring and revealing all her heart to him, her eyes were getting heavier with the effects of the drug and slowly slumber was calling her!!
Amidst all the bizarrity were the unspoken confession of a heavy heart which made Maan reconsider a lot of the equation.
Every dynamics he ever knew had to be changed after this. Looking at Geet's innocent sleeping face he reckoned things can't be the same anymore!!!
