Sorry I'm super behind on reading and commenting.
I just finished a bulk of my exams and before the next round starts I caught up with this!
I just read Chapter 2, 4, and 5
Maan is being such a big meanie! He agreed to marry her and now he's so rude to her and poor Geet is terrifed of Maan but even more terrified of being sent back
Daadima is so adorabe, and sweet, and scary when she's strict with Maan šŸ˜†
Looking forward to more of Geet and Vikrant's bonding as well as Geet's bonding with Daadima
Psssht Maan can wait he's being mean anyways
Jokes, I lied, I know it will take time but I can't wait to watch them slowly turn into friends, then fall in love
Again, apologies for the lateness! Forgive me please!

Chapter 6

Geet pressed her eyes closed hearing the door open, she hoped he wouldn't guess she was awake, she pulled the blanket to her neck in the hope of hiding herself as much as she could.

Maan stared at her back for a moment, he thought she'd be asleep but then she'd only come upstairs only half an hour back, would she sleep quickly?

He cleared his throat moving closer to his bed. "Suno" he called.

Her eyes widened in shock, she clutched the blanket tighter in her fist, her breathing rate increased and her heartbeats rapidly escalated as she feared what he might say. Would he kick her out? Or tell her to pack her things. Sweat misted her forehead as she tried to figure out what he might say or do.

"Are you awake?" Maan called, cursing her mentally for not responding to him the first time.

Geet swallowed hard shifting slightly and tentatively looked at him over her shoulders.

"J... ji"

He rolled his eyes mentally hearing her response. He may be sharp but he wasn't super sensitive or anything, he didn't have a sixth sense to hear her whispers from a few feet away.

"Since you'll be staying here I don't want you interfering in any of my things, don't ever intervene in any matter of mine, keep away from my things" he told her. He knew Dadima too well to know she wouldn't mention it to Geet about everything he says, so it'd be good for her as well as him to clear things.

"Ji" Geet muttered in response nodding.

Maan looked away from her, grabbing his files and laptop he walked over to the sofa and decided to work, he wouldn't be able to sleep right now and he had a lot of pending works he needed to complete before tomorrow morning.

Geet turned back onto her side, what should she be feeling? Happy, sad, helpless. Her hand touched her manglsutr and she looked down. The manglsutr that was happiness to her mother felt like a noose around her neck, Geet thought back to her parent's relationship, despite the way their family lived life and treated women, she knew her father loved her mother a lot, he respected, admired her mother a lot and he loved her so much. She was his baby girl, she remembered the sweets he'd use to give to her before dinner and at night.

It was after her father's death the men dared to raise their hands on Geet, because when she had father with her he protected her always, he died at the tender age of 35 when Geet was only 6yrs old. She hadn't remembered much of his death or anything, all she remembered was how her mother cried.

Geet's hand tightened around her manglsutr, she wondered whether she'd ever feel the love, respect and admiration one has for their partner, she wanted to be loved like how her mother was, she wished her family let her choose the guy she wished to marry so she would've at least chosen someone who'd at least respect her but she had Maan written in her fate. The man who doesn't even acknowledge her let alone respecting her.

Savitri Devi was up early sitting in the living room talking over the phone, Geet's fear, her hesitancy was something that concerned her a lot, she worried if Geet continues to keep herself reserved she would end up depressed or even worse God forbid. She made a call to a dear friend making sure not to mention Geet's name nor her relationship to her, she didn't want Geet, Maan Singh Khurana's wife to be talk of the town, she knew how news spreads fast especially since Maan had always stayed away from media keeping his life private which made journalists more hungry for any news of Maan Singh Khurana. Her friend suggested to see a therapist, it'd probably help gain some confidence if they start sharing their problems and lessen the burden one might have, Savitri Devi cut the call and thought deeply about the advice given, could she right?

She sighed heavily, there was also a problem getting Geet to go and another problem would be if she's going to even talk. She barely talks to any of them at home and then telling a complete stranger seemed impossible. There is also the other factor that therapists persuade their patients to open up slowly. Would this work out? She thought to herself. There is no harm trying. She told herself mentally, yep she'll book an appointment for later on the week so Geet has some time to settle and adjust the idea of living here for good but today she'd get Geet registered in the private clinic.

Geet jumped when she heard the loud knocks on the door.

"Have you gone to sleep in there?" Maan called out, he'd waited as patiently as he could for the last 15 minutes for her to come out but this was just testing his patience, he had to get to the office soon as well.

Geet hurriedly stepped out the shower wrapping the towel around patting herself dry as quickly as she could, she'd wrung another towel around her hair then started getting dressed and stumbled quite a few times over her own feet.

"Have you died?" he called knocking again cursing her beneath his breath. Damn women. He thought to himself.

She gathered her dirty clothes from the floor where she'd dropped them before getting into the shower and hurriedly walked over to the door and opened it.

"Bathroom mein so gaye te kya?" Maan yelled as she opened the door.

She shook her head tightening her hands around the pile of clothes she'd gathered quickly, he shook his head stepping aside pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Would you move now?" he clipped out.

She ducked her head down and walked out the washroom but turned her head suddenly looking over her shoulder when she heard a loud crash, her eyes widened when saw Maan had slipped onto the floor, the pile of clothes from her hand fell down as she covered her mouth with her hand, in the hurry of getting out she didn't dry the wet floor and he'd slipped.

Maan groaned cursing beneath his breath, he turned his to her direction standing to his feet, his eyes fierce and glaring at her, before he could shout or yell, she stepped backwards afraid of what might be coming, she didn't want a round of smacks so she ran out the room.

Maan closed his eyes cursing the damn woman, he stretched trying to straighten, he'd hurt his back and legs, he was sure he'd bruise now but there wasn't anything to be done, he looked where she'd dropped the pile of clothes and slammed the door. The girl didn't know anything called clean, first she leaves the washroom a mess, floods the damn floors, leaves her clothes lying around, God knows what else he'll find. What was Dadima thinking?

He switched on the shower and stripped off his clothes then stepped inside, a cold shower would probably calm him down a little and relax his mind before work or else it'd be a bad day for him as well as his employees who'd be facing his wrath.

"Aap agaye?" Dadima looked up as she noted Geet climbing down the stairs. "Maan ne tang toh nahi kiya na?" she questioned hoping Maan was going to what he'd promised last night.

She shook her head, she couldn't bring herself to even complain and she couldn't even tell Dadima the truth of what had happened, what if Dadima doesn't like her after she learns her grandson had gotten hurt because of her own stupidity.

Dadima smiled, relieved inwardly. "Aaye" She gestured. "Breakfast karne"

Geet followed obediently and sat down next to Dadima like yesterday, she turned her head watching the servants bringing breakfast over, she wondered how much everyone actually eats seeing the wide spread before her. She eyed each dish curiously, from toast to cereals and hot paratas were brought out with a pot of coffee and tea.

"Aap ko jo khana hai le lijiye" Dadima told her wanting Geet to choose what she wants to eat, she continued to serve herself and watched Geet from the corner of her eyes hoping she'd make a move and was pleased when she saw Geet reach out and grab herself a hot parata and place it on her plate, Dadima smiled inwardly and glanced at Geet time to time enjoying that she was actually eating rather than playing with her food like yesterday though she was eating rather slowly. But that didn't matter right now, the fact that she was eating was enough to put a smile on Dadima's face. Once they'd eaten Dadima got Nakul to clear their plates from the table and walked out with Geet into the living room.

"Bete hum aaj aapko kahin lekar jaana chahte hai" Dadima told her as they settled on the sofa.

Geet nodded in response, what could she say? I don't want to go. She'd probably get a good slap across her face if she did she thought to herself. Dadima hoped this appointment would bring some change in Geet and she desperately wished Geet would be able to share her thoughts with her, she wanted to know why Geet being an 18yr old could be so quiet, why she was hesitant and afraid, when an 18yr old girl is usually vibrant, bubbly and full of life Geet was the total opposite.

Geet's eyes drew to the stairs and widened as she saw Maan walking down, she looked at Dadima then back to Maan, he was coming down and he's going to kill her for sure, she chewed on her lower lip and her eyes drew towards the kitchen.

"Hum... main pani leke ao" she stood to her feet looking at Dadima who nodded, she then turned and hoped he didn't reach the living before she left, she breathed out a sigh in relief as she'd entered the kitchen but she was worried. What was going to happen when he told Dadima? Would she hate her now?

Maan looked around for Geet wanting to blast her, he was still annoyed and quite angry, she'd been the reason behind his fall, not seeing her he walked into the dining room and settled himself on the chair and wondered where Dadima was as well, he'd missed seeing Dadima in the living room since he was looking for someone else. Dadima stood to her feet, she was curious seeing Maan look around so she thought he was probably looking for her.

"Hume dundh rahe hai te kya?" Dadima asked as she walked in.

"What?"

"You're looking around Maan" she told him.

"Oh" he nodded grabbing a toast and biting into it.

"Accha Maan bete I need a favour" Dadima spoke and settled herself on the chair next to him.

"I think I done enough favours for a lifetime Dadima by letting that girl stay" he replied sipping his coffee. Geet peeked into the dining room as she stood behind the wall partition that separated the kitchen and dining room, she shouldn't really eavesdrop but she wondered whether he'd complain about the morning incident, she didn't want Dadima to dislike her, it was an accident and she was in a hurry since he was about to break down the door.

"You're doing the favour Maan" Dadima replied firmly giving him no choice resting her elbows on the table watching him.

"What?" he sighed looking at her with a bored expression.

"You're going to drop me and Geet off somewhere" she told him nonchalantly.

"That disaster! I'm not doing it" he shook his head.

"You've got no choice here Maan bete, you're dropping us off"

"You want an argument for breakfast Dadima?" he questioned gritting out his words.

"What argument would that be?" she lifted her brows. "If you refuse Maan I won't talk to you for a long time" she warned him.

"You can't do that" he responded but he knew damn well the old woman will do just that, she'd stopped talking to him for 2 days once and he'd gone crazy in those 2 days trying to please her and melt the woman's heart, she accepted his apology when he bought her favourite flowers and promised to do whatever she wished, Dadima took the greatest opportunity she was given and made him take the weekend off and spoil her, since he'd risen from the ashes Maan barely spent time at home, he kept himself busy with work all the time. So that weekend was surely a treat for Dadima, she made him do what she'd wanted to do for some time, from shopping together to having lunch together then they spent their afternoon at home talking, watching a couple of old movies together and with a good dinner to end the night with.

"Mr Khurana you know I will do just that" she turned her head to him staring at him firmly.

Maan rubbed his forehead. "You promised not to force her onto me"

"I did no such thing and I haven't forced her onto you, had I done that I would've locked you in your room with Geet and not let you out till you accept her" she replied. "I'm simply asking you to drop us off"

"Why me? Why don't you take any of the drivers?"

"Are they my grandson?" she questioned back sharply. "You're my grandson and don't forget you're her husband as well, you might not accept her but it's a truth you can't run away from"

"Dadima look, I said..."

"I know what you said" she intervened. "Do you have a plan to send me to the hospital?" she questioned and turned her head away. "I'm going to die soon and you can fulfil my little wishes"

He rolled his eyes knowing she was trying to emotionally blackmail him, he sipped his coffee and continued to stare at the back of her head and waited patiently.

"You're so insensitive" Dadima snapped turning her head as she realized he wouldn't answer, it'd been more than 2 minutes and after 2 minutes if he hasn't talked it usually means he won't be responding. "Here I'm talking about dying and you're calmly having coffee"

Maan placed his cup down and faced her completely focusing on Dadima only. "Can you not talk about dying please?"

"I will and it's true, I will have to die soon" she responded with a scoff. "I jus..."

"Alright" Maan interrupted knowing she'd drag on and on till he'd said yes so he might as well save himself the long lecture and the headache by agreeing. "When do you want to go?"

"After lunch" Dadima replied pleased with herself that she'd gotten him to agree.

"Alright I'll be back around 1pm" he told her wiping his mouth with the napkin and stood to his feet.

Dadima nodded but frowned when she noticed him walking into the kitchen. "Where are you going?"

"I think I left my phone in there yesterday" he responded back confusing Dadima, she hadn't seen his phone and she knew for sure he doesn't enter the kitchen unless absolutely necessary. She followed wanting to see what he was really up to.

Geet's eyes widened as she caught a glance of Maan coming, she slid against the wall hoping he wouldn't see her, she turned her head pressing her eyes closed, her heart racing as she could almost feel his presence, Maan stepped inside and couldn't find her however Geet on his right and he had his back diagonally to her.

He turned to his right to leave the kitchen and stopped seeing her pressed against the wall as if hiding from him.

"Find somewhere else to hide" he spoke and she snapped her eyes opened seeing him just a few steps away from her, her eyes frightened, her heart racing even quicker and her face paled.

"I... I'm sorry" she mumbled out quickly. She didn't want anything to happen to him, she'd felt guilty and it was an accident, she was going to clean up after herself but she was in a hurry as she was afraid she was going to end up getting hurt for taking her time.

Dadima frowned in confusion, she couldn't hear or see anything since Maan had stopped just right outside the doorway of the kitchen, he wondered who was he talking to, the servants or Geet, he looked his usual stern self but he wasn't shouting or anything.

"One thing I'd like you to hammer into your head and remember for the rest of your lifetime, if you're going to stay in my room, then clean up after yourself!" he firmly told her. "I don't have servants to tend to your mess!"

She nodded dipping her head down, her sight blurred as tears gathered, she wanted to explain she didn't intend to leave the mess but she was so afraid.

"And Dadima stop spying" he turned around and saw her a few feet away.

Dadima straightened clearing her throat. "Who are you talking to?"

"Just clearing up some things" he responded and cast another glance at Geet then walked away. Dadima walked inside and saw Geet against the wall and she'd grew worried seeing her head dipped.

"Bete?" she walked over touching her shoulder.

"I... I d.. didn't mean to" Geet cried softly and looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, "It... it was an... accident" she continued. She'd thought Dadima heard and was going to hate her so she wanted to explain herself to Dadima since she'd been so kind towards her and hoped she wouldn't dislike her for that small accident.

"Kya hua?" Dadima questioned, she turned her head hoping to catch a glance of Maan so he'd explain but he was gone. "Bete" she turned to Geet and wiped her cheeks. "Kya hua? Maan ne kya kahan?"

She then explained in broken sobs how he was knocking on the door and she'd hurried out without mopping the wet floor and he'd hurt himself and the mess she'd left behind.

"Bete" Dadima started softly, she was amused inwardly and wished she'd seen a fallen Maan on the floor, it surely would've been a sight to her but she kept her thoughts to herself seeing Geet cry. "Kuch bhi nahi hua" she told her gently. "Aap rona band kijiye"

She nodded sniffing wiping her cheeks but her tears continued to slip down her cheeks.

"Aap chaliye" Dadima led her out the kitchen heading back into the living room, she then tried to comfort Geet that the incident wasn't such a big deal and assured her everything will be fine.
