CHAPTER 13
ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, MILITARY PROCEDURES, MILITARY TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. Two months had passed after Yash & Meera's wedding. Due to their hectic schedule, Savitri Devi and Pammi could not arrange their wedding reception. Finally unable to delay anymore, Dadimaa fixed their wedding reception on next Friday night, as it was long weekend. Khuranas and Malhotras were inviting all their family, friends and business acquaintances. Hence, it was going to be a grand affair! Maan was passing by and stopped hearing, "Maa, Geet ka card Pinky ko de doon? Geet Pinky ke saath rehti hai." (Mom, should I give Geet's card to Pinky? Geet stays with Pinky.)
"Nahi Pammi! Geet ko mai khudh card dene jaaongi! Iss bahaane mai usse dekh bhi loongi!" (No Pammi! I'll go and give her the card myself. That way I can meet her as well!)
"Maa, aaj kal aap ki tabiyat theek nahi rahti. Geet ka card Maan ya Vicky de aaye toh?" Pammi suggested (Mom, you are not keeping well now-a-days! Maan or Vicky can give Geet the card!)
"Nahi Pammi! Maan ko nahi, agar card dene ke bajaaye usne Geet se jhagda kar liya toh phir ek nayi mushkil khadi ho jaayegi! Pehle ki Maan ke gusse ke kaaran Lalaji ko abhi tak hum manna nahi paaye hain! Aur Vicky toh inn mamloon mei abhi naasamjh hai!!" (No Pammi! Definitely not Maan. Instead of giving card, he may end up fighting with Geet, creating problem again. As it is we have not been able to please Lalaji even now! Vicky is immature in these things!)
"Theek hai Maa! Daarji ka card?" (Ok Mom! What about Daarji's card?)
"Lalaji ka card aur ek mithai ka dibba Munshiji ke saath bhijwadoongi!"(I will send to Lalaji a box of sweets and card with Munshiji to Hoshiyarpur!)
"Maa, Rishabh ka card?"(What a out Rishabh's card Mom?)
"Usse mai khud de aaongi!" (I distribute it myself!)
"Nahi Dadimaa! Aap ki pehle hi tabiyat theek nahi hai. Rishi Bhai ko card mai khudh puhchanonga!!" Maan finally spoke (No Dadimaa! You are not well, I'll go and give Rishi the card.)
"Jaisa tum theek samjho!" Dadimaa said coldly. (Whatever you feel is right?) Dadimaa had been very upset with Maan after Geet had returned the necklace back. She was talking to Maan bare minimum. Maan would have preferred if Dadimaa would have given him a tight slap instead of this cold treatment!
Pammi gave Maan the card and both ladies left. For past two months Maan has been searching for his "Mrignayani", "HIS GEET!" But unfortunately even his Private Detectives could not trace her whereabouts! Now he felt himself to be foolish for not considering this fact that Geet could be staying with Pinky as they are friends! He had asked Adi about new interns application list but didn't find her name on the list as well. He assumed she has joined some other construction company! He first picked the phone and yelled at the detectives for their inefficiency. Next he bought a box of favourite sweets of Daarji and picked the card addressed to him and left for Hoshiyarpur! Daarji was overjoyed and touched to see Maan and asked about Yash and Meera's welfare. Maan had dinner with Daarji stayed the night in Handa Haveli and left for Delhi early next morning! As it was Sunday lunchtime when he arrived in Delhi. no one questioned about Maan's whereabout as they were all busy discussing about Yash & Meera's wedding reception.
On Sunday morning, Dadimaa with Pammi went to meet Geet (Maan was in Hoshiyarpur that time!) to invite her for reception. Dadimaa was hoping Geet doesn't refuse. Geet welcomed them with lot of love and affection and served them tea and snacks. Dadimaa had reached early so Geet will be at home. Being a weekend, Geet had shampooed her hair. She was drying her hair when ladies arrived. Pammi was enamoured seeing Geet's beautiful long hair which she always kept tied during the wedding. After Dadimaa with Pammi left, Geet was in a turmoil that how will she able to hide her feelings in front of all? During wedding, she used excuse of work and then her wound to avoid Maan. What excuse will she use during the reception. She will not know anyone except Dadimaa, Pammi, Yash, Meera and Vicky who will be busy looking after guests. Luckily Dadimaa had invited Daarji, Teji, Lucky and Pinky, so she will stick close to them, thereby avoiding Maan.
On Tuesday after lunch, Maan had a meeting with Rishi as they were doing a joint venture for a Government project. Maan reached early and was waiting in Rishi's cabin as all the staff knew him and how close Maan and Rishi were, they didn't stop him from entering Rishi's cabin! After waiting for about half an hour he went to the cabin next door, assuming it to be Rishi's secretary Natasha's who use to always drool on Maan and try ways to come close to him. When opened the cabin door, he was surprised to see a girl wearing churidaar kurta bent over a blue print and making corrections.
He entered the cabin and said, "Excuse me?"
Hearing his voice, the girl stiffened but slowly got up shocking Maan. "Yes ! Can I help you?"
"Geet!"
"You have got my name wrong Mr. Khurana. Its Ms. Handa!"
Before Maan could say anything Rishi came, "Hi Maan! Sorry I'm late! Ms. Handa, can you please send two cups of black coffees in my cabin!"
"Yes Sir!"
Geet called the cafeteria and asked peon to serve coffee along with few snacks. She went to Conference Room and got it ready for presentation. The meeting started both sides i.e. Khuranas and Singhanias gave their view points, presentations etc. Then Maan and KC staff left. Geet was particularly offended with their junior architect, Sasha but as she was senior to Geet, and Geet was only a part-time intern so she didn't say anything! Although one person observed Sasha's attitude with KC as well as SC staff especially towards Geet.
