CHAPTER 11
Location : Chopra Construction
It was 10:45am., in half an hour the old clients of Chopras, Singhanias will be here. Geet was the only one who knew all about their likes and dislikes and attitudes! But, Dadimaa was not letting Geet come despite of Maan's persistent calls. Maan and Adi have already called Dadimaa around 10times! Singhanias came and presentation was about to start. The Senior Singhania, Mr. Harsh Singhania was a mature man and casually asked about Geet but the the junior Singhania, Jai Singhania refused to talk about anything else.
He kept asking Pari fairly loudly and irritating Maan, "Where is Ms. Singh? How can she just not come? I only came for her!" Jai whinned. Just then conference room door opened and Geet like fresh breeze walked in bringing a wide smile on two faces one on her newly wedded husband's face and one on Jai Singhania's face.
Jai jumped near Geet making Maan fuming mad.
"Ms. Singh, I'm so happy to see you."
"I hope you are well!"
"Do you want us to postpone the meeting?"
"Mr. Jai Singhania, as Geet is here LETS START THE PRESENTATION !" Loud and thundering voice of Mr. Maan Singh Khurana sounded. Quietening everyone present in conference room and starting of presentation. Lights were dimmed and Geet started presenting the project layout and two smitten men were drooling on her! Lights came on and with it Maan's day dreaming came to a halt. However, Jai Singhania was still in his dreamland! Jai was a nice and decent youngman but a flirt! He was harmless but a flirt nonetheless! Girls fell for him due to his wealth and partly for his looks, but he felt that he is irresistable! After presentation, Geet gathered her bag and slides; and left Maan to handle the logistics. Geet was having a tough time controlling her inner instinct to punch Jai Singhania so hard that he will be sprawled on floor with 106 bones broken out of 206 bones in his body! But as it was not possible with him being profitable client to their construction company, she quitely slipped out with Pari (or so she thought!)
Jai followed Geet to her cabin surprising Pari and her. "Ms. Geet why are you avoiding me?"
"I'm not avoiding you Mr. Singhania, I left as my presentation was over. Now Mr. Khurana will deal with budget, cost of materials etc."
"Geet, I'm not interested in the damn project. I'm only interested in you!" Jai bent on one knee and said, "Geet, I love you! Please marry me!"Leaving Geet and Pari stunned. Unknown to them Maan had followed Geet and heard Jai's proposal making Maan on the point of eruption and ready to strangle Jai Singhania.
Before Maan could barge in, he heard Geet talking, "Mr. Singhania, please get up I request you! I'm sorry to disappoint you but if I marry you I'll go to jail on charges of bigamy (two marriges)!"
"Bigamy?"
"I have been married for past six years!" She showed Jai her mangalsutra.
"I have never seen your husband! Have you?" Jai said first looking at Geet then Pari.
"My husband is in Indian Army and is posted at the Indian border."
"I don't believe you!" Crest fallen Jai said slumping on a chair. Pari gave him a glass of water. After drinking water he left. Leaving a giggling Pari and smirking Geet. After they quitened, Pari asked, "Ma'am are you really married or it was just to get rid of that big pompous flirt!"
"It is true Pari!"
"So, thats why you did "Karwa-Chauth"!" Geet nodded blushing. "Ma'am how will you cool down, Maan Sir?"
Geet was also thinking about the same issue. Maan walked away impressed at the way his wife handled the situation!
Geet was about to start her work when Yash barged in saying, "Bha...Ms. Singh, Savitri Deviji has called you urgently to meet her right now!"
"Don't you have any manners? You should knock before you enter someone's room, especially a woman's room! Mannerless man!" Pari said annoyed.
"Don't you teach me manners! If you had manners you would have come to office fully dressed not wearing this slip of clothing which shows more and hides less! Besides my brother will soon own this office and I have full right to come!"
"WHY YOU..."
Before fight could accelerate, Geet interrupted, "Yash sir, I'll be there soon as I'm leaving for the day! Where do I have to meet your Nanimaa?"
"You have to meet her at ABC Hotel, Presidential Suite. Driver is waiting to take you!"
"Ma'am, you are leaving but its only lunch time! What about the takeover details?"
"Pari, I'm actually on leave today and for few days as I have a festival at home as you can see,(indicating her mehendi, sindoor, churis and general dressed up state) but I only came because of Singhanias project as I knew Maan Sir and Adi Sir are new and will face problems. I will not be coming for a few more days, you can take Maan Sir, Adi Sir or Yash sir's help! Now I really must leave! Can you please inform Maan Sir of my departure?" Geet rushed out of the room while Yash and Pari were glaring at one another!
Geet sat in the car and left with the driver. He drove to GK Apple Orchards Cottage and stopped. Geet entered and saw an upset Maan with Dadimaa. Before Geet could make her presence felt, Maan thundered, "How dare he, that Jai Singhania propose to my wife? I'll cancel his project!"
"Maan shaant ho jaaye! Calm down! Firstly Jai Singhania did not know that Geet is your wife! Secondly, you should have trust and faith in your love. Didn't you just now say how impressed you were with her reply to Jai? and Lastly, you both have to have full trust and faith on one another as that will be the first card Rahul and Sasha will use against you both is jealousy and insecurity to separate you! Geet has proven her love, faith and trust in you in these 6yrs. Now its your turn!"
Geet finally decided to enter the conversation, "Maan Sir, aap kyun chinta kar rahe hain? GEET AAP KI THI, AAPKI HAI AUR AAP KI HI RAHEGI JAB TAK IS SHARIR (body) MEI JAAN HAI!" (Maan why are you worried? Geet is, was and will always be yours till their is life in this body!)
"GEET!"
"GEET MARR JAAYEGI, PAR GEET KO SIWAYE MAAN KE AUR KOI NAHI CHOO SAKTA!" Maan covered her mouth so she can't talk about her death and hugged her oblivious to the presence of Dadimaa. (Geet will die but will never let any man touch her beside her Maan!)
Just then Vicky came running. "Bhabhi, Bhabhi, Yash bhai ko kya hua? Woh gym mei aise workout kar rahe hain jaise Maan bhai karte the jab unhe lagaa tha ki aap ne kissi aur se shaadi kar li hai!" (Bhabhi,what has happened to Yash? He is doing strenous workout like Maan bhai, when he felt that you have married someone else!)
Geet looked in Maan's direction making him embarassed. "Kuch nahi Vicky bhaiya, mujhe lagtaa hai ki Yash bhaiya ko pyaar ho gaya hai aur unki jald shaadi honewali hai. Magar kuch samay lag bhi sakta hai kyunki dono bahut ziddi hain!" (Nothing Vicky. I feel Yash has fallen in love and soon will get married. But it may take longer than expected as both are stubborn!)
"Ladki kaun hai?" (Who is the girl?)
"Dadimaa, woh main baad mei bataaongi, pahele mujhe dekhna hai ki aag dono taraf barabar lagi hai ki nahi?" (I'll tell you later. First let me confirm that both have similar feelings for each other!)
Dadimaa and Maan were elated to hear about approaching happiness in Yash's life!
Dadimaa with Sameera, Meera and Pinky was decorating Maan and Geet's "sej" (wedding bed) when door bell rang. Everyone was surprised as the whole family was inside the cottage, then who could it be? Geet was going to answer when Maan stopped her by holding her hand and asked Bhola to open the door. Bhola opened the door and Pari entered saying, "Bhola bhaiya, Geet Ma'am kah..." but stopped seeing Maan holding Geet's hand. "Sir aap?"
"Pari sit down! Bhola sab ke liye chai aur coffee lao!" Maan still holding Geet's hand sat on a sofa and said in a stern and serious tone, "Pari, what I'm going to tell you is strictly private and confidential and I hope you will not break our trust ! If this truth is leaked out then it can endanger Geet's life!" (Bhola, bring tea and coffee!)
"I promise sir!"
"Your Geet Ma'am is MRS. GEETIKA MAAN SINGH KHURANA! We got married today morning!" Then Maan, Adi and Arjun narrated the whole story. Maan concluding with, "Pari we have taken you into our confidence as I will leave for Delhi in few weeks and you work closest to Geet. Mr. Chopra is old and battling his own grief hence he and no one outside our family knows!"
"Sir, I'll keep my eyes and ears open!"
"Pari, if you find anything dubious and suspicious, call me immediately! Don't worry even if the thing is very insignificant?"
"Yes sir!"
Just then Yash walked in and yelled seeing Pari, "TUM! TUM YAHAAN BHI AA GAYEEN! MERA PEECHA KAB CHODOGI?" (YOU! You have come here as well! When will you leave me?)
"Aap ko kya lagta hai ki aap paisewale hain toh sab ladkiyaan aap par marti hain, aur aap ke peeche bhagti hain? BILKUL NAHI! Aap ko apne baare mei bahut galatfahami hai! Aap jaise khadoos aur sadu insaan se koi pyaar toh kya dekhe bhi nahi! 'Karela woh bhi Neem chadha!' " (What do you think that just because you are rich, girls follow you? NO! You are suffering from a massive misunderstanding! Arrogant and conceited person like you, no one can love forget even looking in your direction!)
"Goodnight Sir & Ma'am!" Pari wished Maan and Geet and left.
After Pari left there was a pin-drop silence as no one knew how to react! Only Maan who couldn't control any longer, laughed heartily after a very long time saying, "Wah! Kya ladki hai!" (Wow! What a girl?) Geet also joined Maan giggling shyly!
Yash was too mad to notice, Maan's laughter. Yash was fuming and muttering to himself, "Mujhe Khadus kaha! Sadu kaha! Khud kya hai, Miss World?" (I'm arrogant! I'm conceited! Then what is she, Miss World?)
