Was really tough to handle a person lik Maan...Ya he was nothing more than a skeleton...When Geet found him...He was like any other well built man. N within few days...He had lost his complete shape with that what happened to him.But approximate 6 feet height made always it difficult for a girl like Geet to handle n care for him. His daily needs were same like any normal man.But she had moulded herself to face everthing.How ? Only she knew.Coz till now hospital staff,ward boys nurses were doing this job.
It was about 3 when Geet came in Maan's room...He was gazing continuously toward the roof without a blink.This was just like his routine now.Under medicinal effect most off time he remained unconscious at hospital.n rest of time looking at roof...Geet had a bowl ..Doctor gave a list to Geet n she had to follow it strictly.So she had boiled dal with just lil salt. Or could say soup. She placed it on table next to Maan's cot n set next to him.
After continuously glaring him for few minutes she was waiting for any acute reaction from his side...But no effect..It was not easy for her to interact with him as she could not speak.But how she gathered such courage for all this even she didn't understand.
She grabbed Maan's upper body in both her hands n placed a extra pillow under his shoulders to raise his neck upto some angles.She tried to put soup in his mouth.But he was not taking..It was important coz he couldn't live just on drip.She squeezed opened his mouth..But slowly slowly put some spoonfuls of dal in his mouth lik a child.Which he had at last...She smiled.Wiped corners of his mouth n decided to give him more after some time...
Doctor asked her to feed Maan in measured amounts at definite intervals of three hours.But whole fluid or having no granules in Dal,vegetable soup,milk or juice. Just lik any other baby feed.
She was happy at her success..Three days passed Geet was doing all from her work to earn n taking care of Maan. She had forgotten her own identity..Working just like any machine.She had to stay with him in same room to look after and this news spread like fire in whole community n one day some people of repute n Panchayat came to her home.Ram Chand,Lalit Kumar both Panchayat members.Bharat Singh local market committee head,Mandir Pujariji n his wife...
Rano estimated why they were there.
Savita Devi ( Pujari's wife): Dekho Rano behan tumhari beti ki sabhi izaat karte hai aab bhi..
Rano : Aab bhi...? Savita behan what u wanna say ? ( she was amazed what she meant aab bhi )
Ram Chan: Aab bhi...meaning everything will remain as such..for that you should shift that man some where else from ur home...( pointing his finger toward Rano cleared )
Geet came ..she was observing all things but she had to interfere when matter was getting worse.To made them understand she also had slate to write things
Geet:(Wrote) : Where we should send him Ram Chacha. ? He would not be on our pity till now...If he could walk or say anything..( she put slate on his hand)
Lalit who was sitting next to Ram Chand also read what was on slate...
Lalit: Geet we can shift him to any asylum...There is one near to Shimla for such people...( he gave suggestion)
Rano: But why !!!...We are looking after him ? If you can't help..we don't need too( (she second Geet supporting her )
Savita: Rano Behan you know...how this decision gonna put wrong impression on other girls of our society..Keep everything apart it can also become a hurdle to find groom for girlz who are at marriageable age (such a baseless excuse she gave )
Geet snatched her slate and all of them started to look at her.She nodded she folded both her hands in front of them in anger.She wanted all to leave mother daughter with Maan alone.
Savita: Geet hum samjh gaye What u r up to...But u hav to leave him...wo yahan nahi reh skkta...( she got up n moved toward Maan's room )
But Geet stopped her at door.Even when Pujari ji came forward.she closed door . She was that strong wall which came in between that poor creature n power called society.Power which was trying to break that wall with full blow..but they couldn't
Pujari Ji : Geet you are insulting panchayat people..You know what it means ?( much annoyed he warned...)
All people in home were shouting in such a high pitch that whole village gathered outside home.Some people came inside n tried to push her.
Person one: Geet isko tum yahan nahi rakh sakti...
One lady : Yes yes...you have to remove him from here otherwise think about yourself...then you will not be able to live here...
Rahul : Kya tamasha hai yeh...aap sabh ghar se nikal jaayea..kissi bimaar ki madad karke kya gunah kiya hai isne...( He came in front of Geet )
How he reached here Geet was surprised like every one.But his support was enough for Geet to boost up her determination
But nobody cared.When some people tried to bring Maan out .Geet took vegetable knife in front of them.n whole people moved backward...She first showed it to all n then put it on her belly
Ram: Geet don't be mad...give this too me ...leave this knife..( even his words had been soften coz he not expected this )
But Geet nodded her head..Till then serpanch (village head ) came n he moved all other people out of home.)
Rahul snatched knife from Geet n calmed her down .
Sarpanch: Geet you want to keep him with you thats fine but for that you have to accept one decision we all took... ( Sarpanch gave her option ...any decision what was that ..she was waiting...)
Rahul :Kya faisla...kissi ki madad karne se pehle apka faisla sun-na hoga koi aur mazak reh gaya ho to wo bhi kar leeziye ( he taunted)
Sarpanch: All these members and other respectable people they met me before coming here..
Rano: So whats your ultimate verdict...you might have taken ..so gave your verdict now...(She moved forward)
Savita: Yahi k agar Geet ko isse apne sath rakna hai to is se viah (marriage) karna hoga...
Rano: But how is this possible ? no...( stunned mother screamed)
Before Rano could say some thing or any other person could force them...Geet came in front of Rano n stopped her placing hand over her shoulder...Took her slate.
Geet:( wrote )..If this is ur ultimate verdict..I will marry him and even today...(she had tears in her eyes when she put slate in front of Sarpanch)
At last Tamasha was over.Every body had left.Rano dragged Geet to room where Maan was on bed...unaware to decision she made.It was ironic...he was getting married to Geet..But was just like any other silent spectator outside who was there as a witness of that Tamasha.
Rano : Geet what u r doing ?bhavana-on (emotions) main beh kar itna vadda faisla. ( she shook her from shoulders)
Geet looked at her mother with emptiness in her eyes without reaction...
Rano : Geet jawab de...kyo apni zindgi barbaad kar rahi hai...woh bhi us Admi k liye ..jiska sirf Naam he patta hai tumko ( Rano looked at Maan)
Geet put Rano's hands down from her shoulders n moved toward door.Rano tried to stop her.But she left.when she came back ,had slate in her hand.
Rano waited patiently for Geet's words.
Geet ( wrote ) : Maa...you are saying this too me...how much you suffered for me so that you can make my life happy...but you always supported what was right ..( she gave it too Rano)
Rano repeated words written by her...
Rano : Why not Geet...you are my daughter...If I don't care for you then who will...I can do anything for you ( she rolled hand over Geet's head... )
Geet ( wrote): Yahi Maa..yahi to main apko samjhana chahti hu...kya sirf khoon ka rishta he kaffi hota hai..that we can go to any extent for our relations.But think .agar main hoti Maan ki jagah aap mujhko chod deti .( Geet waited for her mother's reaction)
Rano: Geet u r rite but if u marry Maan what ll b outcome 😲...socha hai tumne...in logon ka muh band karne k liye tum Maan se shaddi kar rahi ho..taaki inko apne sath rakh sako...(she was on her words trying to make Geet understand)
Geet: To kya Maa ...should I sent him to any asylum...For what these people r compelling...kya hoga inka...ek jinda lash ki tarah padde rahegay..no body gonna care for him...shayad agar inki kismat main zinda rehna bhi hoga...yeh wahan theek hone ki jagah apni zindgi he gava de..But m not gonna let this happen.( n she stepped toward Maan's cot giving her verdict )
Rano: Geet I have nothing to say more...I taught you to choose what is right...how can I deny it now ? But think after u marry Maan...woh theek ho gaye..or unho ne tumko chod diya to..what ll we do then ?(she chased Geet )
Geet: Maa don think what gonna happen...To save him from this so called society ..I left with just one option due to these people to marry him...Why to think now he gonna accept me or not...
Rano was speechless. She tried to smile But her worries about for her daughter's future had shattered her down from inside.
Stage was set for this unusual marriage.This marriage might be a drama for all.. People had been gathered all around.But for Geet this was toughest decision..Her whole life was gonna to be changed after that.For Maan this marriage mattered nothing.But for Geet this was biggest turning point of her life.
Sham brought Maan on wheel chair.to lil court yard...Where Pandit Ji had lit fire in Hawan kund. Every body was curious to know how this marriage gonna b performed.
Geet was wearing same red suit which Rano sewed for Geet to wear in Mala's weeding. But nobody even Geet was aware that this gonna be the weeding dress for her...
Geet could fulfil her part in all rituals related to marriage...But how Maan?..Who was not able to raise his hand up.How could he putVarmala,Sindoor, Mangal sutar But above all 7 phere.She asked Sham to leave Maan's wheel chair for her n took him in front of Hawan Kund.
Rano,Rahul,Leela,Sham,whole persons of repute those came to her house n compelled her for this decision n common people were watching this holding their breath.She took Varmala from Leela Mausi...first put in Maan's neck.She gave Mala in Maan's hands but Geet she held his hands...Geet commanded Maan's hands to put varmala in her neck.This might have never happened n never gonna b happen.
During Sindoor daan n Mangal sutar she did same as she did during Vermala time.Directed Maan's hands by herself...
What next.Rano came forward for Gath bandhan but whether Gath bandhan mattered for that person who could not take 7 phere .How could Maan follow Geet behind her for three pheras..how Geet gonna follow him for next four.
Geet asked Pandit to proceed..She held Maan's wheel chair from back n completed four rounds of Maan's part.But what about remaining three ..how to complete those three where she had too lead ?
Might she have some thing for this already... That's why there were pieces of ropes in Rahul's hands.She had asked him to bring ropes but what was reason even Rahul was clueless.
Taking pieces of ropes from Rahul .She tied one end of each rope to wheel chair arms n took other ends in her hands .n then started to pull Maan's wheel chair like any animal pull cart.These people those were against Geet They were thinking why she was ruining her own life for the sake of a person having no relation with her...
Geet was Maan's wife now..Two speechless creatures had been tied to one knot . Due to voices raised by this evil power called society...But was this decision enough to shut them up ? What Geet gonna do now ? Where was her life taking her ? Might even Geet have no answer.
Everybody left coz they hav nothing to say in front of this brave girl.Who accepted challenge given by them.She took Ashirwaad from Rano n Leela.Broken Rahul left jst after phere.But from inside He was feeling proud of himself that he loved her.A girl who buried her own identity to give life an unknown's identity...
