Part 60

It was another day in the life of the khuranas but then it was not an ordinary one. This was the Sangeet function of the eldest Khurana. The beautiful hall room had been decorated for the occassion. The wedding planner had truly outdone herself. Purple and white orchids along with colourful drapes were decorating the hall room.

Geet along with Rano and Tej were staying in Maan's pent house. Rano had come three weeks ago from Shillong for the occasion of Geet's marriage. They informed Mohinder and his family even who had promised to be there for the functions. Meera and her family along with Sid's family were also there so the penthouse was bustling with activities from past two weeks. Geet's room had turned into full fledged dressing room as Meera and pari were trying on different type of lahengas on Geet. Rano was smiling watching the three girls as they fought over dresses. Meera's mother couldn't have enough. She had always treated Geet as her own and today finally Geet was smiling.

Finally Geet was frustrated with both her friends and said.

Geet:" Hush both of you. Meera, tell me what do you want?"

Meera:" I want you to wear this pink and white lahenga. It is your favourite combination and would compliment your skin perfectly."

Geet:" Fine, Pari, what do you want?"

Pari:" I want this lavender one. Look at it! It's a beauty."

Geet sighed. Leave it upon that incroggible man to create such a problem for her. Not only had he pampered her with new dresses and accessiories in the name of college preparation but had managed to buy six different lahengas for Sangeet and Mehendi. SIX!!!! Aghghgh! And anything she would protest about and that man would look at her with his hypnotic pool of chocolate and say," Don't I have this much right on my Mishty?" That man would be the death of her someday.

Finally Geet said softly," I think I like this mauve color one better. What do you both think?"

They all were perplexed so finally Rano intervened and said," Why don't you try them once Geet? We can decide which one makes you the most beautiful."

Geet:" But Maa, all six of them!"

Rano:" No beta. I think we all agree that tomorrow for the mehendi you can wear this mehendi green one. That would be most suited."

Meer and Pari said in unison," Yes aunty."

Geet finally tried all the three lahengas and no one could doubt that the mauve colored one suited her best. Soon it was time for lunch. Since the beauticians would be coming afternoon so they finished a quick lunch and forced geet to have an afternoon nap.

Tej was busy coordinating everything with Dev. Though the wedding planner was there but they wanted to make everything perfect for their respective siblings. Maan was fidgeting. He wanted to meet his mishty desperately. Past few weeks the ladies had kept Geet busy with their shopping sprees at different boutiques and parlour treatments. As if his mishty needed anything more to be perfect? She was just perfect as she is.

The only thing that stopped him from barging into his own penthouse was Geet's cute pleadings. Somewhere he knew that this is the first time Geet was actually enjoying with her family. He wanted her to enjoy that.

He was eagerly waiting for the evening to meet his mishty. He was waiting to see which lahenga she would be wearing tonight. He himself was ready in his white designer sherwani. Dev came in along with Adi to greet him. They had some guy time as their respective partners were busy getting ready. Somewhere in the midsts of it all they were informed that Geet has arrived and currently in one of the guest room.

The invitees had come. It was a grand affair as the eligible bachelor of the country was finally getting tied down. The khuranas had decided that it would help with wild speculations if they allow some of the media personals to attend the function. Maan's business associates and some other celebrities and politicians were also invited for the evening. From Geet's side there were very few to attend. Meera's, Pari's and Sid's family were one along with Mohinder and his family. Also Geet had invited Vicky and his friend group. Vicky was truly surprised at the revealation of Geet's realtion with Maan but was happy for her. The guests were seated when Dev announced that Maan and Geet would make their entrance.

The entire room was plunged into darkness as only two spotlights were lighting the opposite end corridors from where Maan and Geet emerged. Geet was looking like an angel desecended from heaven. Her mauve color lehenga was making her fair skin more prominent. Maan could not blink as he drank her beauty with his eyes. She had applied slight makeup enhancing her beauty. Her curls were teasing his senses as they escaped from her bun and were touching her cheeks. She had worn matching kundan set and what in the name was that! A silver waistband was adorning Geet's sexy waist!! It took everything in Maan not to go all cavemen on Geet.

While Maan was mesmerized by Geet, Geet was no less. The white sherwani was fitting perfectly on Maan making his abs more prominent. His exposed chest was tentalizing Geet's sense. He was smoking hot!! But it was his eyes and expressions that gave Geet goosebump. It was as if his eyes were undressing her right here. She raised her eyebrows a bit and he winked. Red hue spread over her as they walked towards each other in trance.

They met in the middle. Maan raised her choori claded hand and placed a kiss on her knuckles. That one gesture expressed what thousand words couldn't have. He placed his warm palm on her bare waist earning a tremble at the sudden touch. Then they both walked towards where Daadima, Rano- maa and others were standing. Once they reached the stage rings were exchanged. Geet was wearing the same one Maan had given her during his proposal while Maan's was a simple gold band with the words Forever and always' inscribed on it. Geet had specially asked the shop for that inscription.

Soon it was time for the main event to start so everyone settled down. Annie who had come from abroad with her husband was so excited to finally know her Maan bro was getting married.

The room was darkened as the first event started. It was a dance item by Annie, Naina,Meera and Pari. The three ladies were beautifully claded in their lahengas making their respective partners' eyes pop.

As the music started they began doing the steps perfectly. All of them were trained dancers in katthak so they had decided on doing the first song as a semi-classical piece.

It was a beautiful song exactly depicting the condition of their hearts. All of them danced really well and Geet could feel as if the song was telling exactly her own feelings. They finshed the song with a beautiful pose and every one of the guests clapped.

Soon it was the turn of the larki vale to present something for the couple. Well Tej and Sid were ready. After all it was there sister's marriage. Both Meera and Prachi had joined them on the stage as the music played...

Tej and Sid matched their steps as the song started.

Suddenly Sid started lip syncing with the next part of the lyrics...

Tej was not behind; He started singing alongside dancing with Prachi.

Both the guys started takking steps together.

Meera and prachi smiled and blushed at the antics of their lovers. Somewhere into the dancing they forgot their fight as both the girls danced. Tej and Sid lifted their partners as they sang

They gracefully brought their lady loves down as they did their steps:

Rano came up at the stage at this point and sang the lines looking at Geet.

Both the ladies were teary. Maan could feel Geet getting emotional so raised his hand and took her to stage. All the ladies on stage had a group hug making the scene emotional. So to change the mood Tej, Maan and Sid went ahead with the rest of the song Maan doing his own steps as he never practiced for this.

It was beautifully done and the guests enjoyed it. But if the larkivale had done there piece Larkevaale were ready as well.

The lights dimmed as Maaneet took back their seats. Naina and Annie came on stage covering their face with dupatta as the spotlight fell over them. They started with what seemed classical steps as the music started.

Gopiyon sang ghoome Kanhaiya

Abb saanwra na bhaaye

But the soon the felt a change the steps and removed their ghunghats and started taking the next steps.

At this point Dev and Arjun joined them oozing attitude as they took the next steps.

Arjun and Dev smirked and held their hand as they danced.

Meanwhile none of the guests had noticed when Maaneet had slipped out again. Suddenly people noticed as two more figures joined the stage and it was none than the bride and groom.

Maan went centre stage as he pointed at Geet smirking before doing his steps.

Well our sherni was no less. She patted him full attitude before pushing him away and began damcing.

All watched them as Maan held her waist bringing her closer. The other couples followed them as they finished the song together.

Needless to say, that the sangeet ceremony was a huge success. I mean it is only sometimes you can see Maan Singh Khurana so carefree. Daadi could understand the restlessness of her grandson so 'send him and Geet in his room to have dinner together while others looked after the guests and bid them goodbye.
