Rudr stared at Vivaan in disbelief momentarily. "What?"
"You heard me clearly dad. I don't want to do anything to Geet or her dad"
"But you said..." Rudr stood up glaring at his son.
"I was angry and drunk. I love Geet and it hurts. But then I can't... I can't hurt her" he shook his head sighing heavily. He'd lain in bed holding her picture as he thought of their friendship and the days they'd spent together before she'd drifted away. He tried to think of so many reasons that she might have, but failed to come up with something.
"So what should I do? Watch you sulk?" he grit out angrily. "You're my son!"
"And Geet is Sameer uncle's daughter dad. How do you think he would feel if we hurt his daughter?" Vivaan questioned. "Just... back off for a while alright. I need time and space so I'm... going to go away to London to watch over the office from there"
"Vivaan you..."
"Dad you heard me, I need to figure things out. I might not want to hurt Geet but... I don't want to watch her with someone else. I need time and space right now okay?"
Rudr clenched his fists to his side not answering his son back, instead he turned his head away in displeasure, Vivaan sighed heavily excusing himself and walked out of the home office giving his father space and time to register his words clearly.
Unaware of the fact that he won't give up so easily.
"Vivaan?" Geet frowned seeing her friend stood outside looking around uncertainly, she stood from her chair walking to the door and opened it. "Vivaan" she called garnering his attention. He turned smiling faintly and walked over.
"I was looking for you" he informed.
"What for?" she questioned opening the wider allowing him into her cabin.
"I'm heading off to London for a couple of weeks" he replied looking at her warmly. "I just wanted to see you before I left, I know we've not spent a great deal of time like we once used to..."
Geet felt a pang of guilt tighten against her heart knowing she was the one who pulled away from him and their friendship.
"I... don't know what went wrong with us, with our friendship..." he stared at her sadly. "Anyways I just wanted to say bye" he muttered offering a smile.
She nodded. "How long are you going for?"
"I don't know. I just need space and some time away from here"
"Yeah a break would do you good" she responded.
"Yeah" he chuckled. "I miss us Geet"
"I know, I miss us too" She nodded. "Uh I better get back to work" she gestured, he nodded stepping close for a hug, she embraced him back and slowly pulled out pressing a kiss to his cheek.
Vivaan stared at her for a moment before he excused himself and walked out, Geet stared at his retreating figure for a moment knowing she had caused this distance but then she didn't want him to learn of the truth of their fathers, she'd broken down completely learning who her father was, when she stumbled across the truth one afternoon she'd pulled away from reality blocking off everyone even her best friend whom she used to follow around.
She'd promised herself that she had to make sure Vivaan didn't learn of who his father was, she couldn't stop herself from breaking but she could stop her best friend's heart from breaking so she'd pulled away from him, avoiding him which made it easier for her not to blurt out the truth.
She missed their friendship dearly, but she didn't regret pulling away from Vivaan because she was able to save him from the heartache she'd felt when she learned of their father's true selves.
"Miss Handa you seemed quite comfortable with your boyfriend so I don't see the problem of you marrying him?" Maan raised his brows walking into her cabin having witnessed her hugging her friend or whoever he was.
"You're so funny Mr Khurana" Geet rolled her eyes inwardly. "Did you want something sir?" she dismissed his comment not caring what he thought, he was her boss and playing a pretend boyfriend, nothing else.
"I need you to drop this off at Haider Houses, they're expecting these folders"
"Excuse me? Unless you're forgetting sir I'm a Supervising Administrator and Support officer" she reminded. "Shall I remind you of my duties?" she questioned.
"And I'm the Manager Geet" he replied.
"Of course, you're my manager however the administrators are mine" she smiled. "I'll delegate this to Pinky, she'd gladly go for the walk" she reached for her desk phone. "Anything else sir?" she raised her brows in question, Maan pressed his eyes closed in frustration, he stalked out of her cabin heading back to his.
"Nikhil is really hot right?" Sasha looked at Geet for an answer as she settled on Geet's desk with her lunch.
"He's alright" Geet shrugged. "I don't know, I didn't exactly goggle at him like you" she replied.
"I bet he has thick muscles under that tight shirt of his" Sasha looked over her shoulder stealing another glance at Nikhil.
"Okay you're weird" Geet noted. "What have you got for lunch?" she peeked into the lunch box of Sasha's. "You eat such weird food" she made a disappointed face. "I'm going to head out for lunch" she snatched her purse heading out the door. "Guard my cabin with your life" she called heading out.
Sasha hummed back barely registering her words whilst she stuffed her mouth with sushi and admired Nikhil.
"Yes dad?" Geet answered her phone just as she stepped into the elevator barely registering if anyone was in the elevator or not.
"Geet when do you finish today?"
"6 like every day dad" Geet responded. "Why?"
"Well I'm having some guests over tonight, I thought you'd like to join"
"Who is it?"
"Your Radhika bua"
"Moti bua? Do I look stupid? I'm not coming home whilst she's there" she responded. "I'll head over somewhere else for the night"
"Geet I want you home" Sameer replied sharply.
"Well cancel dinner with that moti bua because all she goes on about is how my mother walked out of my life for another man and how she thinks I should be married. I'm not coming to listen to her bullshit Dad!" she replied determined in her stance.
"Well she's not wrong in your mother walking out" he muttered.
"Mr Handa if my mother walked out on me it was because of you" she replied tightly. "If you loved her enough and paid more attention on her then she might have not loved someone else and left me" she snapped angrily cutting the call off, she casually glanced at the steel walls noting a dark figure behind her, looking over her shoulder she drew in a sharp breath. f**k sakes she thought as she stared at the elusive Maan Singh Khurana staring down back at her. She turned away watching the number on the digital screen as the elevator went downwards.
Maan didn't speak having heard the one sided conversation of Geet Handa's, he didn't say a word for it was her problem and her life. Like him, she'd probably want her privacy respected and he was going do that. He did want to almost chuckle at her choice of words especially her moti bua'
He was however surprised at her confidence and response to her father, he'd have her expected to be timid or afraid of her father but she was neither. It was probably because she was a don's daughter but it didn't seem like her confidence stemmed from being Sameer Handa's daughter. There something else he thought inwardly.
Geet stepped out into the staff car park heading towards her car, she almost groaned seeing how efficiently her guards were already waiting in their car beside hers, and she clambered inside cursing the efficiency and loyalty to her father as they followed behind as she drew away.
