Ok honestly I would have updated this OS next week sometime, but since life's getting busier then expected. I thought to finish it off before I forget, sorry its much shorter but sweeter. I hope you like it
The final part is influenced by my favourite novel Shopaholic and Sister (Sophie Kinsella), an amazing story about two siblings who met much later in life. Different as cheese and chalk, if one is a shopaholic, the other is a firm believer in going green. The credit card abuser meets the tramp, who doesn't even know the existence of such cards. Crazily insane story about how the two hate each other and then miraculously like the same difference later, finally accepting each other as sisters. OK I'll stop or else I'll rewrite the whole story, but do read if you have the time. Amazing story.
Transport Love - Sailing to Happiness (Ending)
'Breath in and out as slowly as possible, remember focus on inner peace. Inner peace cleanses bad intention, leading to inner beauty' the yoga teacher said in a calming voice though his accent was atrocious. In the middle sat Maaneet. Maan was strictly following the instructor but Geet found it really hard to concentrate. 'What the hell did he mean by focusing on inner beauty', what was inner beauty, as far as she knew the inside of the body was gruesome with organs and a lot of blood. Didn't they show that on 'Freddie Vs Jason' when Jason cut up the poor students.
'Awww' Geet shouted, she hated that movie. It scared the living daylights out of her and the stupid yoga instructor reminded her of the same movie that she was trying hard to forget for the last 10 years.
'what happened buttercup' Maan asked collecting Geet in his arm, who looked like she'd seen a ghost. Most of other cruisers also rounded up around them wanting to know what scared the beautiful and lovely Geet. The Yoga teacher however was the least bit happy, Geet always found excuses to escape his classes and also distracted other members including her husband. Who was totally hot, could she not just sit down for once, so he could check her husband from top to bottom, left to right, ear to ear or whatever perverts do.
'I was imagining inner beauty' came the answer from a timid looking Geet, the group burst out laughing including Maan.
'Geet my dear your too cute, if you were not married I would have adopted you' said an elderly women in her 60's. Maan could not stop wondering how cute his wife was, everyone seemed to love her, be it her smile, her innocence or her stupid and utterly annoying questions.
'Well I would have married you' said a man similar to their age, this didn't settle well with Maan who shot a glare towards the man and quickly picked up his wifey darling carrying her back to their cabin, maybe there he could show her what inner beauty was.
Maan and Geet were now on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, it was a 2 week long tour that would enable tourist to experinece a life on the Caribbean Islands but that wasn't the only continent they visited. The last 10 months was spent travelling the world. They, well technically Geet decided to spent a year together to make up for the 3 year difference, honeymooning for a year, yeah baby. When Geet suggested it, Maan was loving the idea of him and her being locked up without any disturbances for a year. A whole year, that's 12 months, 365 days. WOW, he had it all planned, night and day would be spent in the bedroom itself. But Geet had other plans, she wanted to create memories, to tell her grandchildren she responded when Maan asked why. But who would tell her that they needed to spent time together to produce a child, in this rate he would never be a grandfather. Poor Maan. They travelled the whole of Asia in the first 5 months, starting off with India, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan and then finally visiting China. She brought 10 silk scarfs from Thailand, 4 Vietnamese dresses and lots of beautifully hand crafted jewellery from Philippines for herself which were going to be delivered to her Delhi home. Geet also brought tonnes of stuff from India and other countries for herself and Maan, and for the family. How could she forget them, they were such angels when she proposed this idea everyone including her father and her in-laws were so supportive, so the least she could do is buy some gifts. Most of which were already delivered to her house, Anni had called to congratulate her for her fantastic taste. After all she was Geet Handa, sorry correction Mrs Geet Maan Singh Khurrana now. Oh yes she also brought a Chinese vase from China for Pinky, unfortunately they couldn't make it back in time for Pinky's and Adi's wedding which took place 4 months after their wedding.
Speaking of Weddings, Maan and Geet got married exactly after a year, a year on from plane fiasco remember. So they marked their 1st anniversary with the 'Wedding of the year'. It was perfect, Maan made sure that it was on the beach as promised to Geet with the finest of everything. People thought they were crazy, especially her dad who was constantly trying to deter her from marrying this quickly, she argued that what's the point in waiting if she loved him. But the father felt jealous, he never lost anything in life and here he was losing his daughter to Maan. How can any man accept loosing to another man especially if it involved the daughter of the 1st man. But Maan sailed through that also, promising to visit London every month with Geet, he also encouraged Mr Handa to permanently shift to Delhi, this way he could be closer to this children. Which obviously worked, Maan is a charmer who can charm even a snake, well maybe not. But anyway going back to the wedding, yes so it was on the beach, check. It had water, sand and sky, check. Both Maan and Geet and their family were present, check. Geet looked fabulous and Maan looked dapper, check. What else is there, erm their friends were there, check. Dcor was amazing, check. Media, including David the monkey were halted by big fat body guards, check. Music was blasting, check. Finally it marked the beginning of a new journey for Maan and Geet, uniting two loved ones forming one big lovey-dovey mush, double check. Last but not the least it was a fantastic day, both Maan and Geet loved every minute of it, especially when the priest announced 'You may kiss the bride', there were hoots, giggles and awwws but Maan cared the least. He was savouring her after a whole month, Dadima had strict provision so Maan could not touch, feel or even smell her, a double whammy check.
The wedding was a battle with Geet opposing Maan at every given opportunity even threatening to cancel the wedding when Maan rejected her ideas. Could someone please inform Geet that Maan was beyond desperate now to get married to her, the love of his life. But he was sure that she had other plans, when he bribed the priest for the earliest dates, she outright refused saying she can't get married in week. A girl apparently weaves a dream of marrying all her life, what the hell was all that about. He was a boy and he most definitely didn't dream about marrying one girl and staying with her for the rest of his life but that was only until Geet stepped into his life. After that all he knew was to claim her, to mark her as his so lecherous men laid their eyes off his women. Geet wanted the traditional Indian wedding for Maan and his family's sake. But Maan wanted an normal English wedding for Geet, she was scared of fire so if he wanted to marry her without any problems then this was the best option. Both Maan and Geet are stubborn, none willing to back down thinking about each other. Eventually they did get married, Geet had it her way. What if she re-evaluated her idea, her father was consistently asking her to reconsider anyway. So it was a big fat Indian wedding like she asked, minus the fire. Getting permission for an open fire on the beach was near to impossible, well that's what he told Geet who amazingly believed him. His poor wife didn't know the power he possessed, if he wanted he could buy the beach. Oh well it worked out perfect in the end, his wife was really easy to fool which would come in handy in the future.
'Hi Anni, how are you? I'm not talking to you, why haven't you called me. I was so bored, we talked to each other 3 weeks ago and now you remember. I'm angry at you. Don't ever call me again' saying so Geet slammed the phone onto the table without giving Anni a chance to speak or defend herself. But what can she do, she was tired of seeing new faces, Maan was the only constant face over last 10 months but right now she was annoyed with Maan who was at the so-called yoga classes. 'Traitor brothers traitor sister' she mumbled to herself, the phone was constantly ringing but she ignored it. That would teach both those users a lesson, how can they abuse poor Geet. When ever they wanted attention, Geet gave mountainous amounts of her time but when she asked in return, they simply left her to it. She knew Maan has the hots for his yoga teacher, that ugly monkey, yuck. 'Geet that's wrong, you know Maan loves you' she argued remembering last night when Maan punished her for voicing her doubt to him. To say he was shocked was an understatement, but he tortured her saying that this should prove that he only loves her and neither was he gay.
'Maan, Anni's getting engaged next month' Geet shouted at Maan who was sitting right next to her, he would probably be deaf in a month or two. The women shouted at every given opportunity without paying attention to her surroundings. He still remembered their trip to the United States and Mexico, they spent two months travelling through Texas, Miami, Canada and New York. But she was the most excited about their visit to Disney Land in Florida and since then her excitement never died down, when ever she was happy she would scream, poor Maan his ears endured so much. He knew all men were subjected to this, but not on their damn honeymoon.
'Maan you listening'
'Yes sweetie I am, by the way I am just here what is the need to scream' he suggested pulling her to him with naughty intensions, maybe he could shut her mouth with his. That would stop her screaming and in return he too would have some fun.
'Stop it Maan, I'm not in the mood and remember how you were screaming. Messi I love you' she intimidated. Yes he had been a little too crazy during their visit to South America. Geet wasn't the only one spending as Maan also brought many football T-Shirts from Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Out of all the places he visited he was most enthusiastic about these footballing nations which for him were the greatest. The previous two months were spent in Europe, rekindling their memory but making new ones along the way. Their trip to England and Scotland was the most romantic, it was freezing since they visited the country during winter but that was the best part. Geet plastered her body to him 24*7, and he was loving it which was blatanly obvious to all. Cornwall was breath-taking but Geet in her nighty was better. The Lake District was beautiful, but Geet and her brush was alluring and the mountains in Scotland no longer looked majestic in front of Geet's hazel hypnotising eyes. With each destination he visited, he remembered Geet. It was taxing going back and forth, but totally worth it when he saw her face. The happiness grew ten folds when she hugged herself to him, posing for another picture perfect moment to show her future grandchildren which he was sure would be born soon with his hormonal imbalance and their lengthy honeymoon.
'I think we should go back for Anni's engagement' she finally managed to say getting herself out of his grips, Maan acted like a two year old always wanting to be glued to her. 'Where was his boyfriend now' she thought to herself, hating him giving attention to that creepy yoga teacher. Everyone knew he liked Maan but Maan was a blind fool, always talking to him. If he liked that monkey then he should tell her, she would be happy to leave him alone with that psycho for a few hours. She knew Maan would come back crying, after all Geet was the best, she gloated. It was 2 in the afternoon and they were still in their cabin, Maan desperately trying to kiss her at every given opportunity, maybe he didn't like that desperado, Geet gleamed. But why does he give that thing attention when she's around, she was beautiful, intelligent but the most important thing she was a girl. Poor Geet was in a competition with a man, who was not even worth a hair strand in Maan's eyes because he only loved one women. The one women who was is entire existence, Maan's administration or assault on Geet increased causing her to back off.
'Maan stop it, I'm serious I want to go home' Geet said deciding it was time to go back, as it is she missed Pinky's wedding but she didn't want to miss another function at any cost. She was also jealous of the other man in her man's life, he ignored the females but for some reason he couldn't walk away for him, yuck. 'Yes finally' Maan could not be happier, he had a lot of business to take care of which he kept himself away from for the last 10 months, only poking his nose whenever it was required. Honeymoon was good, no great but a new life awaited. Plus he didn't like all the male species around his flower, he was her bee, one and only bee.
'But what about Australia' he pretended to be affected to earn some brownie points knowing his wife would try to persuade him in her own ways.
'Bhabi thank you for coming' an emotional Anni hugged Geet hating herself for cutting Geet's wish short.
'Are you crazy, how can I miss my sister's engagement. Don't feel guilty I had enough of all the travelling, my backs hurting and to be honest I was scared your brothers affair will ruin our marriage' Maan who had started to rub Geet's back stopped knowing who she was referring to. Geet however loved it, 'payback for ignoring me' she conveyed the message through her eyes when Maan glared at her.
'Bhai, what is she saying' a shocked Anni asked, it wasn't a year and her brother started all these shenanigans. How could he, he loved her.
'She's lying' an annoyed Maan answered looking down, everyone in the hall were looking at him. Dadima and his mama who sat opposite him were giggling along with his papa. Geet's daddy however looked serene, was this the stillness before a storm.
'I'm not, Anni come to our bedroom I'll show you a picture of him' Geet said getting up taking Anni along with her
'Baby stop, darling nooo...' he ran after her, his wife was crazy telling people he was gay. What would his family think of him, what would his father-in-law think. Geet would ruin his image, of all people in this world did he have to fall for this bully of a women.
'Maan what have done to yourself' Geet shouted when he came out the bathroom. It was a week and life seemed crazy with Geet and his family pulling his leg about Manisha, the yoga teacher. Geet was super angry knowing he knew that monkey's name so she left no stone unturned to torment him but he loved the attention she gave him when they were alone. After all she had a lot of making up to do, she ruined his image so he needed to destroy her sleep. It was fair, wasn't it. Maan wanted to go straight to work, but Geet being Geet emotionally blackmailed him with her fake tears and 'you don't love me no more' dialogues. There was also a lot of unpacking to do, his wife had brought a lot of junk, including two dining tables. Two tables when they already had one, where was he to place it on his head. 'I forgot' she conveniently answered in tears when he was furious at her for wasting his money on garbage earning him a smack from his parents. They said they would gift it to Anni and place the other in the outhouse solving the issue, but there was still three rooms filled with worthless items she collected over their honeymoon. Memories she called the objects, memories of their honeymoon but photos would have been sufficient but no this was his wife we are talking about, his wife who slowing was taking his life.
Geet who brought Maan's tasteless coffee to their bedroom was more then just shocked with what she saw. Gone were Maan's long beaded tresses, in its place were his short gelled back hair that now looked like worms. His neck filled with chains was also missing, in its place was a red tie matching the colour of her burning heart. A watch shined instead of his bracelets and the thread. How could he just replace all that without asking her. 'How insensitive of him' her mind shouted. She had her dyed hair, the tan was clearly evident and she still had her painted nails with his name.
'That was a sacred thread, its to protect our bond' she cried missing her husband, her Maan. He went and sat beside her on the bed, holding onto her knowing how sensitive she was about him. Ok maybe he should have told her that he was transforming back to the businessman Maan, the free roaming honeymooning Maan was going to be replaced by the rational and professional thinking Maan. But she had to expect it, their honeymoon was over and things needed to return to normalcy. Now they will start living their real lives which he presumed wouldn't be a smooth sail. Geet continued to cry hitting his chest, hating his look but Maan convinced her in his own ways. After 2 hours she seemed to agree that she should also go back to work, with Maan gone what was she to do all day. She also needed to go back to the old Geet, like Maan just did.
'Geet what happened' Pinky asked seeing her friend in tears, the Geet she knew was great at managing her business but this Geet was hopeless. It had been two weeks but Geet was slowly learning everything again. To say it was difficult for her would be an understatement whereas with Maan it looked like he took the tides under his stride, business seemed to be perfect for him. Geet every night went home in tears not liking her working life no more, finding it hard to face the old tidal waves after a long hiatus.
'Baby it'll get better, do you want me to join you tomorrow' Maan asked not liking his angel in distress, maybe getting back to normal life for her was too hard and he tried to support her as much as possible. It couldn't be easy for her to adapt to everything after 10 long months of peace.
'No daddy said his coming to show me the ropes again' Geet answered after sobering up, she's making it seem harder then it is. She was fine before, all she needed to do was pay more attention. Tomorrow would be a new day, and a new improved Geet would follow, hopefully. With that thought she went to sleep snuggling into Maan and Maan protectively held his treasure soothing her from her worries.
'Wow, Anni you look fantastic' her fianc said seeing his soon to be bride in a dark purple Lehengra. Geet had hired the best beauticians for her wanting her sister to look absolutely divine. Over the last 3 weeks, Geet and Anni spent a number of hours shopping for this upcoming engagement, Geet had always took Anni as her sister from the 1st day since she had no siblings. Maan could not be happier, Geet was fantastic with his family and doing well in her hoteling business helping her father maintain his reputation in the hospitality world. Life was smooth and running efficiently, and not to forget she looked delightful in her bottled green lehengra, like a princess, his princess and the future queen to his children. But Maan looked nothing less then a prince, a shining prince to his shining princess. Yes the newly engaged couple were the centre of attention but people couldn't stop being attracted to Maaneet, a couple very much in love. A couple perfect for each other in every sense.
Soon it would be a year to their marriage but Maan acted the same, still the mischievous lover. He loved Geet more than ever and she was willing to jump through hoops to make her dear husband happy. They were sailing to happiness, yes there were tides sometimes drifting them off to problems but that is life. Life was everything but a bed of roses and that added value to life, making it priceless. Everyone faced hiccups, but they stuck as man and wife battling through the winds and storms to form a stronger foundation of unity. Once the strangers who were railing their hearts in darkness soared through new heights and finally sailed to true happiness with their beloved forming their backbone. Geet was ever so thankful for the wrong train journey and Maan was grateful to the crashing plane, but their love had blossomed on the cruise, marking a place right in the centre of their hearts. In the form of one another they found contentment and satisfaction. Life wouldn't be easy and there are more transports to discover. But life wouldn't simply be life without Geet in Maan's life and vice versa. There were steadily sailing to a life of togetherness, a life of love and a life of happiness. What will come their way in the future is unknown but what was confirmed is that they found love. A love as pure as gold, as clean as a water and as fresh as flower. They were united, a newly formed concoction known to the world, well our world as Maaneet.
With that we come to an end. Thank you for all for reading Transport Love, I hope I didn't disappoint. It was a fun journey for me and hopefully you had fun too. The transport system can be a pain in the neck, so next time you're on the bus, train or even a ferry remember this OS hopefully it'll put a smile on your face and you never know you might meet your Maan (lol).
