Maan was travelling back from America, the last 3 years had been one big business meeting. He spent the 3 years focusing on business and only business. His parents had given up asking him to enjoy his life, he was a changed person now. No more the flirt, the fun-loving guy who travelled Europe without a care in the world. People called him the mean machine, hardly ever spotted doing anything other than attending business conference and business parties. Over the years, he tried very hard to forget the women responsible for this change but it was only a try, a big try but try on the whole. Every time he saw the sunrise he saw her smiling face, every time he witnessed the night stars he remembered her tears and every time he listened to the pattering of rain he heard her laughter. His mother found the letter which he conveniently forgot in the dirty laundry basket. It was 3 months after their trip, for 3 months the letter she left for him in Italy was untouched and those first 3 months was the hardest for him. He spent countless hours drinking trying to fight the urge to go back to her.
Dear Maan,
I am sorry but I don't think I can face you ever. I'm leaving Maan, I'm leaving this place, I'm leaving you.
You helped me change as a person, your different. You were very kind and that scares me.
You made me whole, but I can't break down again so I'm leaving.
All the best Maan.
Geet
When he read the letter, what little resolve he had to go and see her broke. His ego got badly hurt, what did she think he would use her like her ex. Did she not know him better and what the hell did she mean by him scaring her, was he some kind of monster. After reading the letter he still thought about her 24*7, with him even knowing that she never wanted to see him. Had she not just mentioned that on the letter, she didn't want to face him ever again, she might as well added never ever again. Maybe he should apply for indefinite leave, that would do the trick of her never seeing him again. But then again the worlds too big, he thought sarcastically. She clearly stated she was leaving him behind never to return. But she had him hooked on, not even a second went by with him not thinking about her. He was aware of the changes in her, the transformation in her. The Geet Handa who was always present on Magazine covers and gossip column disappeared to the business section of the newspaper. She was no more the party animal but a civilised business women. He tried to ignore her success, her failure, her altogether. But at the end he would end up picking the paper, or Googling his women. Yes he knew she was his, the women who stole his heart and stolen it shall remain. His flight had stopped in Germany, being here brought forth a bunch of memory especially because of its neighbouring country. He knew this wouldn't be an easy ride, he might as well get some shut eye.
'Wait I thought my secretary booked an single seat' She asked the airhostess who showed her a seat next to a man in First class. Maan was immediately reminded of the women when he heard that voice, he knew who it belonged to. Should he act ignorant or should he acknowledge her presence. But why should he always take the first step his brain argued. But she looked the same, actually better. Could he not initiate one final time, his heart forced. She longer owned chubby cheeks, it was replaced with fine cheek bones and her face matured showing her superiority. God she looked amazing, could he not hold her just the once, no not again don't fall for her his mind combatted defeating his losing heart.
'Pinky is completely useless' she mumbled under her breath, what on earth would she do with her good-for-nothing secretary yet best friend. Oh well it wasn't the end of the world, she just needed to adapt sitting next to others even if they owned the most repulsive aftershave, speaking of which this smelt familiar.
'Can you please get me sparkling water' she said putting her wayward thoughts aside after working for 37 hours straight she should be astonished that she could still stand on her two feet forget her smelling ability.
'Make that two' Maan said over her causing Geet to turn around. Maan noticed the emotions that came over her face, the surprise, the happiness and then the love. Was he reading it write, since when was he a face reader, wait isn't it an eye reader or what ever reader there was or is.
'Hi Maan, remember me' she said controlling her emotions, all the tiredness she felt left her that very instant. She couldn't believe he was here, finally she found him. 'Please don't let it be a dream' she prayed
'Geet Handa' she introduced herself when after a couple of seconds he still didn't respond, actually he was more than surprised that she still remembered his face, let alone his name. Had he been an idiot not to go after her all those years ago.
Geet was hurt, he didn't even recognise her. This was the same man she had been searching for over the past 3 years. She realised after 2 weeks, when her mind was clear that Maan was never after her money. Had he been then he wouldn't spend his money of their outing. He brought her clothes, he paid for their dinner, he also paid for dinner date. She noticed that he never asked her to pay, ever. Even when she insisted, he was different but she thought the same about him. She was definitely an idiot in every sense but that didn't deflate her hope. She searched for him every time she visited a new city, she even hired detective who told her that she had limited information, she only knew his first name for godsake. But she never gave up, she hoped she would meet him again and apologise for her mistake. But she hadn't expected him to forget her, did the time they spent together mean nothing to him. It was a life changing experience for her but maybe not him, he probably forget the very instant she left. Why should he remember her, was she even especial she told herself.
They chatted for a while regarding their businesses, Geet explained to him that she was travelling to Delhi to reconstruct and renovate their Delhi hotel. It was her dad's first hotel, she wanted to present her father the remodelled hotel for his 50th birthday. While Maan spoke about his business adventures. Neither wanted to mention their past, too scared that the emotions they were controlling would spill if they treaded that path. They both reached the top of their career but everything remained the same in their personal life, broken.
'Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the Pilot speaking. I'm afraid the right wing engine of the plane is down, I would try to land this plane carefully as soon as possible. The good news is that we are nearly reaching Delhi' the Pilot announced calmly
'WHAT, I can't die this young' Geet shouted, total havoc was created after the announcement. The plane could go crashing down any minute now, so this situation wasn't taken lightly by most customers. Maan held onto Geet knowing she was scared, well actually he too was frightened but glad that he would die in the arms of his love. At least his death would be a good one, like the love story types. If not together on earth then at least together down below, he thought sarcastically.
'Before I die I want to make a confession' Geet said looking at Maan. Is she going to propose his mind screamed, yes finally she will admit the truth that she loves him, it was clearly visible in her eyes.
'I'm not a size 6 I lied for the last 5 years to the magazine and I don't exercise everyday, I'm too lazy for that' she admitted looking ashamed.
'I also hate my dads secretary, so I asked the staff to kill the plants that she gifts my dad. I know she wants to lure him in so I told dad that she's a lesbian. I truanted English lessons a lot during high school but told dad that the tutor hates me so he marks me absent on purpose. I inform dad about all my exes who cheated on me because I like to see them hurt, sometimes I lie when I want dad to take revenge on people I don't like. But just a punch, I promise' she voiced out pinching her neck. Maan was too shocked to respond, what on earth was she going on about.
'I hate the smell of lavender yet I endorse its fragrance. I mostly sleep during presentation and ask my people for their opinion. I'm scared of the dark, I hate spiders and all creepy crawlies. I hate most of the managers at our hotels, they think I'm stupid. I am not a thickhead but I did cheat on my maths exam and I' Geet confessed looking down unknown of the effects it had on Maan. Maan could not believe his Geet was so nave and innocent, she was admitting all her secrets to him. They say a women takes her secrets with her to grave but Geet was completely opposite to all the women he met in his lifetime, maybe that's why he was still deeply in love with her.
'and I think I'm still in love with a man I met on the train 3 years ago' she concluded looking up at Maan. His breath got struck, did she just admit she loved him in between all her gibberish. Only this women would make a speech like that.
'I tried looking for you ever since but I only knew your name Maan, I had no clue who you were or what you did. That holiday in Europe changed my life, you changed my life. I'm sorry I thought you were after money but you weren't, I realised that but much later. I love you Maan, your the only man for me. Please tell me you don't have someone else' she rushed in one breath when he didn't react, she was close to tears. She just couldn't imagine him with another women. What if he has, no he hasn't moved on her heart silenced her ever doubtful brain. He looked the same; those eyes still looked the same, so how can he move on.
'Your crazy Geet Handa, no one makes a confession like that' he said bringing her close, so her head lay over his beating heart. The same heart that beat every day, every minute, every second for this women, for his women, for his Geet.
'I have only loved one women and that's you' he confessed kissing her head
'I love you Maan' 'I love you too' he answered. Who would have thought in such a situation two lovers would admit their love which otherwise would have taken another 3 years maybe. People were still screaming, hyperventilating and creating all sorts of nonsense around them. But nothing mattered no more, if they were to die today then they had no problem with it. They were with each other forever now, in the arms of their beloved.
'I don't want to die, I want to marry and have kids and ... and torture you' Geet cried, the life that lay in front of them seemed beautiful. Could their fate be so cruel, would it not offer them an opportunity of togetherness, of love, of a family of their own.
'Geet baby don't cry, it'll be ok I'm here now. Ok if your not size 6 then are a 14' he asked earning him a smack
'Do I look that fat, anyways I lied' she said shrugging her shoulder trying to change her statement, maybe her confession wasn't the best idea ,she never made the wisest decisions in difficult situations. But she couldn't risk not entering heaven with all the lies she told in her life, but maybe it wasn't that bad. She now lay where she belonged and that was in Maan's arms over his heart which she ruled.
'Ladies and Gentlemen I'm pleased to say we have landed safely in Delhi. We would like to apologise for the turbulence and hope you would travel with us in the future' the pilot announced again this time creating a whole new atmosphere, people were clapping and hugging each other out of sheer joy of still being alive. Geet too hugged Maan whereas Maan kissed her cheeks resulting in a tomato red Geet.
'I will never ever travel with them ever again and nor would you' Geet commanded pointing her finger at Maan once they were at the airport.
'Anything for you darling' the endearment sounded so sweet to Geet's ears, she loved how fast he was moving. No one could tell they just met after 3 years, they looked like a much in love couple. After collecting their belongings, Maan escorted Geet to his car to drop her off to her accommodation, he also wanted to spent more time with his Geet. The drive was slow, real slow with even cyclist passing them.
'Maan drive faster' Geet ordered but Maan replied that he was with his love so drive would always be slow, he couldn't afford to move his eyes from her. What if it was dream he argued, to which Geet just kissed his cheeks. Maan felt like a fool why didn't he go after her 3 years ago, he knew all there is to know about the Geet Handa and even confessed it to Geet. To which she stated that distance only increases one's love. She had no complaints, her Maan was with her and that's all that matters. The same evening they had another dinner date, somewhat similar to their Rome date but this time it was in Delhi and they didn't part. Geet fell more for this Maan, who made sure everything was perfect for her. He remembered her taste, her likes, her dislikes. He was the best there was, that's for sure. Well she was no less either, making up for the time lost, both hugged and talked equipping each other about their lives. Well they couldn't sing, dance and laugh the night away as both had important meetings the following morning.
Geet entered the reception of Khurrana Construction the next day, and soon was escorted to the MD's office.
'Miss Geet Handa meet the MD of Khurrana Construction Mr Maan Singh Khurrana' Adi who was Maan's righthand man introduced the back of a man to Geet. This was extremely rude, how can he just ignore such an important client like her. She demanded recognition, maybe this wasn't an viable collaboration she thought. She could hire another company for the reconstruction of her hotel. This man was insolent, was he not taught the basics of etiquette 'respect a women's presence'. Eww no one ever disrespected her like that till date, when she got up to walk off that's when he turned around giving her the biggest shock of her life.
'Maan what are you doing here' she immediately asked without thinking
'I'm here to meet Mr Maan Singh Khurrana' he stressed his name, he loved the look on Geet's face. She looked so cute in her confused state, like a child. It was a total of 2 minutes before Maan saw her facial features changing, the little light bulb in her head must have lit up.
'OOO MMM GGGs your the MD' she jumped in her spot feeling happy that she worked out his puzzle. Maan quickly walked around the table, he liked his women all excited, she looked incredible in her white blazer and black tight pants. But her jumping sealed the deal, can a women look hot and cute at the same time? Obviously not. Only Geet had the capability to create such thrill in him.
'why didn't you tell me yesterday night' she complained smacking his hands off her that came around her waist, he knew yet he didn't inform her. He managed to hold onto her shoulder trying to calm his lady. Maybe he could have told her yesterday, but the look on her face today was completely worth it.
'Sorry sweetheart I wanted to surprise you and can I say you look smoking hot' Geet blushed up and Maan concerned her forcing her into a hug. Both were drowned in their love, completely forgetting their employees who were witnessing their rude boss Maan and strict discipliner Geet coo-chi cooing opening. Adi and Pinky urged the occupants out the cabin knowing their bosses where in total different zone, but needless to say both were equally happy for their bosses.
'Want some coffee, I think it'll take some time' Adi suggested Pinky not knowing what to do.
Adi popped into Maan's cabin, it had been nearly 3 hours and he still heard no news from Maan. But what he discovered was an empty office, had the love birds flown away from the nest. Are they not moving too fast? Adi knew this must be the women that Maan fell in love with 3 years ago on his holiday. Maan had shared his story of loving a heartless women, but she didn't seem that bad. To be honest she was a kid, god knows how she was creating such a stir in the hoteling business because she looked docile and acted like a child.
'Where were you guys, what do I pay you lot for? Geet, there is no such thing called professionalism no more' Maan reprimanded a shocked Adi, had his boss-cum-friend just accuse him when his the one who took off with his newly found girlfriend. Maan could tell Adi was annoyed but liked teasing him. Life seemed so blissful with Geet beside him, Geet on the other hand knew Maan was joking at Adi's expense. Geet spent the whole day at KC with Maan showing her around with neither wanting to leave each others side.
It was the weekend and as promised Maan showed up at Geet's hotel room sharp at 9am. No she wasn't the earliest of risers unlike Maan, but last night she didn't get a wink of sleep as she was totally excited about their sightseeing tour. They visited several famous sites like Humayun's tomb, the Lotus temple, Yamuna and the Coronation park. Maan narrated the history behind each monument (1). Although Geet was severely tired, she continued following Maan for the smile she saw on his face. He looked like a man who pursued his happiness.
'Geet honey' Maan shouted asking her to hurry up for the nth time
'I can't Maan, I'm exhausted. I think my legs going to fall off' she said sitting on the curb, yes she liked her man happy but at the rate he was going she'll need an amputation, the man never stopped.
'Sorry baby, Ok what do what to do now' Maan asked realising life in the UK was much easier, people hardly walked for half an hour (2) and here they were at it for the last 9 hours (3). They had their lunch in between the mini tour which consisted of authentic Indian cuisine but Maan being clever made sure there was minimum spice, now nobody wanted a stroppy Geet. He had handled her once upon a time 3 years ago, and didn't want to cross that grumpy Geet again.
'I want to be in your arms, carry me please' she asked like a baby, extending her arms upwards towards him. She was knackered and couldn't walk another step further. How could Maan refuse his baby, so he carried her in his arms all the way back to the car and drove straight towards the hotel. He continued his carrying mission until they reached her room where they shared their late night meal. Later they settled on the sofa and watched Geet's favourite movie '27 Dresses'.
'Maan when we get married I want it on the beach as well, with the blue water and..' she yawned snuggling into him, soon falling into a blissful sleep. She looked incredibly pretty even in her pyjamas. He made a promise to fulfil her wish, come what may, they will definitely have a beach wedding with natures finest elements as the witness to their love. They had spent a week together but it felt like an eternity, it felt normal for Geet to talk about their wedding to her 1 week boyfriend Maan. Similarly he couldn't wait to see Geet as his bride. Life was easy, smooth and simply just worth living with each other as companions. He vowed to never let her go again, he couldn't miss the sun when he decided never to experience the snow. He let her go once only to realise he loved her far beyond love itself and now that he knew she was his light, he could do anything to let that light burn forever, but only for him. With that thought of their future, he too fell into a peaceful sleep resting his head on top hers. That night unknowingly both treaded a new path, reaching a completely new level in their short relationship. A path of commitment and dedication towards each other.
Maan and Geet entered the hall together hand-in-hand, Geet was dressed in a long royal blue one-off shoulder gown looking exquisite and Maan was dressed as a dapper in his black Armani suit, however Geet made sure his shirt complimented her attire. It was her fathers birthday and as planned it was the opening of the redeveloped hotel. Over the last 6 months, they spent countless nights dining and an enormous amount of time fighting and making up. Life seemed amazing, even the paper's didn't seem to bother them any more which initially was such hindrance. 'Are Delhi boy Maan Signh Khurrana and London girl Geet Handa an item', 'Love is in the air for KC and GH heirs' and 'Love is the new throne for Maan and his Lady love Geet' were the headlines for todays newspapers. Each day seemed like a fairy tale but today was huge, Geet was going to introduce Maan to her dad. She had practised in front of the mirror for the last couple of days. Her daddy's opinion meant the whole world to her, she knew he would agree as Maan truly loved her for who she is but still every daughter had a fear not to upset her father whom taught her the basics of life.
The party was going extremely well, Mr Handa loved the improvement. Today he was happy that Delhi, his home town was the first to experience the amalgamation of both father-daughter duo even if is for a hotel, he was always proud of his daughter but here he saw a new Geet. Who looked happy and fresh, a father also has paternal instincts but Geet was never just a daughter for him, she was all he had, even the smallest of changes was clearly visible to his eyes.
'Daddy I want to introduce you to someone' Geet said distracting her father who was with an old acquaintance. Most guest's had left apart from a few friends and mostly hotel staff clearing the setting.
'Yes darling what is it' he asked looking at the man beside his daughter, yes he was aware of the developments in his daughters life. She was far too innocent to know what men were like hence he had hired detectives and body guards to follow her. 'A father must do what a father must do' he argued whenever he felt guilty for intruding in his daughters personal space. He also read the gossip column just for her, to know which fish tried to catch his pearl again. He had done a background check against Maan the first time the papers mentioned his name. Although the reports were good, the boy still had a murky track record. So Mr Handa wasn't as keen on him.
'This is Maan Singh Khurrnan and daddy I want to marry him' she said in one go closing her eyes, almost every time she introduced a friend, her father was disappointed and she ended up listening to lectures about how nave she was to understand people's true intension but this time she new she had it right. After all Maan was perfect, she was sure even her dad would agree.
'Are you serious, you know him for like 6 months' her father argued counting on his fingers, absolutely not ready to give his daughter away to some else, especially to a man she knows for only 6 months. Common its only 6 months, for Christ sake. If it was 10 years maybe he would consider edit, but 6 months no, never.
'But I love him daddy, I think he is the one' she said for the 3rd time in her life, she wasn't exactly a player of any sort, so 2 serious exes is just right. However she was on the verge of marrying just the one, which wasn't Maan. Actually the name was subtracted from Devil, so without a shadow of doubt everyone should have expected Dev to be a cheat. Maan however was a major playboy until Geet happened to him and that her father was aware of through special means, what else does he need detectives for. Only to keep an eye on his doll.
'Daddy please' Geet was in tears, Maan firmly held her shoulders and indicated not to cry. He knew it was too fast maybe they could spent a little more time together before settling down but Geet didn't want to hid it from her father no more. He knew all her secrets, he was her best friend, her only true friend apart from Pinky and now Maan and Adi.
'Ok I accept, now don't cry you know you look like a drag queen when you do' he joked pulling his daughter into a hug. Not liking her tears one bit. Her father pampered her a bit too much, well she is the only thing worth living for him.
'I love you daddy, I knew you won't say no to me'
'have I ever refused my princess' he protectively held his daughter but Geet pulled Maan into the family hug saying he too is a family member now. He was after all her soon to-be-husband, plus it looked wrong with him looking all awkward. She tired hard to break the ice but both were too egoistic. Her dad was way too proud, the size of Pluto if you ask her and Maan, well for now his sorted sib=nce she kicked him down a notch or two. There was no place for ego in love, she always ranted. Maan mellowed down trying his best to impress the old man for the sake of his love, after all he knew what her father meant to her.
'You've got some moves boy, I must say your quite fast but you might just fall flat on your face, if your not too careful' said Mr Handa when Geet disappeared with the manager to check something, he needed to interrogate this new fellow in his daughters life.
'Its love sir and actually I feel like I have known her for eternity now' he genuinely answered smiling to himself. Life for him seemed perfect right now. Mohinder Handa knew this man really loved his daughter and was proud of her choice. After all he too was aware of the upcoming shark of the business world known as Maan Singh Khurrana. If rumours were true, Maan would be going places in the near future. So he definitely wasn't a leach like Dev but Mohinder too was a ferocious shark, with big scary teeth. That could throw Maan's sharkiness out of the water, ha beat that, Mohinder thought in his head. Looks like Geet is right, her father was way too egotistic. But seriously will this alliance be compatible for his tinker, will Maan treat Geet like a princess.
'Remember my boy, one tear one bone, two tears two bones. I hope you get the message' Mohinder hinted putting his arm around Maan's shoulder, yes he believed this man did have true feelings for his daughter but a father must take precautions, didn't he. Plus he was a big bulgy man, for Geet he was like a teddy bear but for others he was a bear, a head ripping big bear.
'Ok what did you think Maan, how did it go with daddy yesterday' Geet asked Maan when they met during their lunch break. Geet explained how she thinks her father is impressed although he didn't voice it out, she could tell by his facial features. Normally if he didn't like someone he has a murderous look which scares people off, but with Maan he looked chilled, almost intrigued.
'You know your dad well'
'Well of course I do silly' she said playfully hitting his arm that snaked her by the waist. He liked her father and any man would be highly protective over Geet. He sure is and he only knows her for a while, so it was natural for her father to feel so.
'So one big task done, you ready for yours' he asked Geet knowing hers was an uphill battle, to be honest it was no battle she had already won the war. His family was happy for him, for them their son returned home the day Geet stepped back in their lives. Yes they were aware of her but decided to wait for when they were ready. But Maan being Maan wanted some fun hence made up a story of how he belongs to an orthodox family.
Geet spent the next couple of days practising her speech written by Maan in Hindi, which was an Alien language to her. French was hard, but this was near impossible.
'Maan do I have to' she complained over the phone the first day, but he turned serious saying that she should forget about them altogether, scaring her out of her skin. After which she practiced like an obedient student each night. But it only got harder, he now expected her to wear a sari as well. A SARI for Christ sake but according to Maan wearing the sari is the easy bit since he brought a Lehengra sari for her of his choice. All she had to do was pop on the shirt and flip the drape over her shoulder.
'Maan I can't wear it' she cried over the phone, she had no idea of which shoulder the drape should go over. This sari business is way too complicated, she whined. However she was thankful that Maan had brought her a ready-made sari, yesterday night she viewed a clip on Youtube on how to wear a sari and after the video finished she ended up with a severe headache. How do these women do it, she mentally saluted womanhood and counted herself lucky, after today never, ever ever again would she be wearing a sari, it's way too difficult to walk in but she did look good in it, she thought appreciating her look. Maan would be flat dead, yeah.
'which ever you want baby, try it on the left. I'll be there in a while. Oh by the way I don't mind checking you out' he joked in a seducing tone, he was in the hotel to pick her up, actually walking along the hotel corridor. He thought him joking would ease her, but here it had the opposite effect. Geet completely flared up, whenever Maan complimented her, she would blush the brightest of reds making her look absolutely, unexplainably beautiful. To say today was any different would be wrong, he was bowled over by her simplicity, she had opened the door for him but all he did was stand there and grape causing her to be more nervous. She looked like an unforgotten fairly. 'You look stunning' he commented stepping in making her go red all over again.
'Geet seriously stop it or else we won't be stepping out of this room today' he warned, controlling his urges which was next to impossible. He always wanted to see her in a sari, he knew she would look good in the white netted sari he brought her but no she looked hot, was it even possible. It's not fair his brain screamed, he now needs to cover her up so other men lay their eyes off his women. He asked her to pop on his blazer making her angry, she spent the last couple hours fixing her sari trying to look perfect but he was set on ruining everything. But the man had his own reasons, after all he was a jealous soul. Imagine that he was jealous now, what would happen when men actually saw his angel. He was probably going mad, loving Geet has its perks but right now when his trying to cover her visible waistline from view, it was everything but a perk with Geet glaring at him. But he knew how to dissolve her anger, a simple peck on her cheek and it all vanished. The frightened Geet returned so he shared some words of wisdom, well when it's coming from Maan they not the wisest of words. Especially if his scaring her rather than making her feel better. The ride to Khuranna's was a short one but for Geet it seemed like a never ending rollercoaster, Maan at her side had a solemn look on his face making situations worse for her.
'Papa, this is Geet Handa and Geet this is papa, my hero' Maan said buttering his father, he had introduced Geet to his mama, dadi and Anni saving his father for the last. All were seated outside in the front yard on the patio. It was huge and beautifully designed with flowers and trees. Had she been in a better mood she would have definitely cherished the garden, but right now she left she was in limbo. Dadima started off the conversation complimenting Geet's beauty and was highly pleased seeing her in a sari.
'Oh no I cheated, Maan brought a ready-made one' she answered Anni who was surprised that her bhabi could assemble the 3 metre long cloth. Geet soon realised her folly when everyone gave her amusing look, she didn't look at Maan knowing he would be scowling since he did tell her act like her perfect 'bahu'. When he asked her initially to lie, she flat out refused saying 'she was no liar' but Maan was quick to remind her of her secret exposing fiasco on the plane. She was under pressure she argued, and now she didn't want to start off with a lie, what if his parents hated her. It all made sense, one lie and she'll be out of the house and then he'll marry a women they had chosen for him, like all sad love stories. Maan loved his innocent Geet, whom wouldn't even hurt a fly and here he was asking her to take fake credit for someone's work, that's what she called it. According to her, someone spent their time and effort making the sari and she would never take appreciation of something she didn't do. So Geet stuck to her gut instinct and said the truth.
'Maan lied to me, this is not what I expected' his mother tried a strict voice but in reality she was just teasing her son, however who would tell Geet this who was more anxious knowing she got Maan in trouble. So the next 10-20mins was spent on discussing things i.e. about Geet's father and her family, her life etc. With each second Geet was getting more nervous, yes they were sweet but didn't her dad warn her about sugary-coated people. Here Maan also strictly advised her to keep her head bowed down and her eyes glued to the floor which was hurting her neck now.
'May kuch key na chat ti huw' she said in her broken Hindi interrupting everyone, all were pleased with her efforts but Anni and Maan found it real funny. It's now or never Geet, you can do it girl' her mind bloated her confidence, she has been practising for more than a week now. She knew she could present this speech without a glitch, it was a walk in the park.
'may app ki beti say baa hut pi-yaar cart ti huw, may aap ki dinner car lungi and I would' she realised she was back to her mother tongue when Maan touched her elbow. Her dialect was really funny that he found it hard to compose himself especially with Anni reminding him that she loved the 'beti' and not 'beta'. She also said car lungi' did she just watch Chennai express or what, it was meant to be cook karungi'. But oh well she looked cute. Awww his sweetheart was cracking him up.
'I not doing it Maan, you're laughing again' she pouted trying to walk off
'Geet baby look my family are impressed just a little more persuasion from your side and you'll have them eating from your hands like me' he winked causing her to blush up
'hogaya romance bhai, I want to hear bhabhi. Say it nah bhabhi, you sound too cute' Anni encouraged secretly recording this moment for the future, it'll be handy when blackmailing her bhaiya and bhabi. Her brother was a prankster but she never knew he would do it to her bhabhi whom every innocently like an obedient child was giving her speech with such dedication and enthusiasm. Poor Bhabhi, bhaiya's so mean' Anni thought quietly.
'oh yes may app ki Gap di, oh no khap ray dongi like a nag raani and may aap ki kaam bhi car ungly. I love Maan too much please don't separate us' she was in tears having no more patience in her to complete her Hindi speech. Both dadima and Mama quickly cuddled her saying that no one would dare to break them up.
'But Maan said...' 'He lied beta, Maan' his mother shouted and that was it Papa could not hold his laughter no more and burst out laughing, his son was mischievous and that's how he liked it. But how on earth did he manage to get this sweet, innocent girl. Papa came and hugged her, Anni then went on explaining what she said in Hindi 'I want to say something, I love your son too much and I'll eat your dinner. I'll also wash clothes like a servant and do all house chores'. She also made sure to correct the 'nag' to 'nag', letting her know it was a snake rather than a household helper. Geet felt like a total fool, how could Maan do this to her. That idiot, moron, stupid jerk.
Anni and Maan was in splits, the momentary awkwardness flew out the window. Geet was highly irritated, how could Maan make a joke of her, he told her that it meant 'I love your son and he loves me too, I want to be part of this family. I am willing to adapt myself and would love if you could accept me'. That lousy liar, Geet was fiery red by now and had a tough time controlling her anger. Maan on the other hand witnessed the changes in his family especially Geet and decided to escape before it's too late.
'Bhabhi his escaping' Anni shouted, papa, mama and dadi also encouraged her to get her payback. So here they were with Geet chasing Maan with a stick that Anni provided her with, trying to hit him.
'Anni please help' Geet shouted finding it hard to run in the sari and holding the big stick was tiring her out so she threw it at him failing miserably as it fell on her feet instead.
'Ouch' with that Maan stopped and everyone came running to her to check if she was ok, but Geet too is as mischievous as Maan. She could not let him win, so to let him know she was far smarter than him she pulled this act. With a signal from Geet, Anni quickly held onto Maan and forced him to the ground holding his hands above his head and Geet immediately sat on his stomach. He was trapped by both bhabhi and sister duo who then tickled him to death, with the elders watching. Now it wasn't everyday they witnessed a scene like that.
'Geet leave me ... please baby leave...me' he managed to say in between his laughter
'Maan say sorry and that Geet Handa is smarter than you'
'and Anwesha Khurrana is better than you' Anni joined, what could Maan do when both refused to budge so he accepted that Geet and Anni are better and smarter than him. As soon as he was released he chased the culprits all around the garden. Laughter could be heard, at last happy time seems to have returned in the Khurrana Mansion.
Life seemed perfect, with their love and elders blessing, could Maan and Geet ask for more. Both reached not only new heights professionally but also personally, they soared through their test. Finally finding themselves in each other arms, well not exactly because Maan was chasing his beloved. But ironically he was running after the women he ran away from 3 years go. They were now with each other, for better for worse and in sickness and in health. No they're not married but soon that too would follow, after all the ending of all epic love stories is marriage. Isn't it?
