Learning new languages is fun and awesome!
But unfortunately I cannot learn when someone just gives me translation. That never works with me, I always forget the words! I have to listen to people talk in that language then I start picking it up in few days! Some of my neighbours are punjabi, gujarati, marathi, haryanvi, marwaadi so know a little bit of it!
unfortunately there was no Bengali aunty in our area or would have learned that a bit too!

BB its every one problem we cant learn any other language untill we listen...
thats y i know inly hindi english n bengali 😳😆

I know! But I wish I could learn through translation!

I want to learn french because it is supposed to be the language of love

german because I am fascinated by it from school days due to Hitler

Spanish from the time I watched Zorro

Italian due to ancient rome is my fav. part of history

Russian because to it was THE USSR

Japanese coz my dad learnt a little bit and forgot

And in indian language, bengali coz I find their pronunciation very different so it seems interesting

Malayalam because every mallu knows tamil

Kannada coz my daadi was expert in it and I want to honor her

and Telugu coz my cousin can speak

And... I think thats all

Also i want to learn the dead language Ardhamagadhi and Prakrit! Have been fascinated about them from the time I read about them in school while learning about Emperor Ashoka

And also sanksrit so that I can read Geeta and understand it without translation!

List kuch jyaada hi lamba hogaya na!😆

I actually downloaded an app from itunes on my ipod touch. The app has Geeta in sanksrit and its translation!

My fav. line is "Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya..." the one which was used to regularly in old Mahabharat! Loved the line and always quote it to everyone who mentions Geeta!😉

Wish I was brought up in mumbai. there we have the option of french, german, sankrit and others as second language in school. My mom and cousin both learnt french. Of course they forgot it but that is a different issue.

Boisar is a village so we had hindi and marathi as second language! Sheesh! Sanskrit bhi hota toh chal jaata! But marathi was way boring especially when you dont use it much at all! Faayda kuch nahi hai marathi seekhke! Coz as long as you stay in Maharashtra you can pick up speaking it any time and as the script is same as hindi reading it is also easy! Hindi, I did not mind learning coz it is out rashtra bhaasha but marathi could have been learnt just like that too! I could have learned some other language in its place. But unfortunately humaare school mein aur koi option nahi tha! I still have not forgiven my parents for bringing me to Boisar. There are so many things I missed because we shifted here!
