I agree with you. It's extremely disheartening as a writer to repeatedly spend hours on a chapter and get very little feedback from readers. Honestly, it sometimes makes me lose interest in writing, which isn't really fair on the wonderful readers who do comment.

Another thing I want to say is that just liking or writing 'nice', 'good update' and 'waiting' aren't really comments. To me, that's cheating - a way to get the writer to update and to defend yourself without actually putting any effort into it. Take the time to drop a line or two that is SPECIFIC to the story. It means the world to writers. I am a reader too and I don't have heaps of time to spare either. But honestly, if you claim that you can't take two minutes to string together a few sentences even though you had 5 - 10 minutes to read the update, you're making a really pathetic case.

Writers really have no obligation to stay where they are getting next to nothing back so next time you start harping on about disloyal writers going to other forums, think about whether you're doing anything to make them stay.

like u say when we type for hrs n days

they cant leave a two sentence appreciating words too

only few do it

i do agree wd u all wrtrs...being nt actve fr long on ds site n thn silnt reader fr a while n nw i m actve reader...i needed an opportunity or push to break my inhibitn tht was gvn by post by shona... n nw i commnt n lyk on all d storties i read...bt still learnin to wrt big commnt... bt atlst m tkng effrt...
